Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Wyatt Sterling Says: I’m Yours Now

The situation on the bridge was brought under control.

Kyle Churchill was saved, and William Churchill cried tears of joy. The heart-stopping farce ended with Perry Pierce’s arrest.

Wyatt Sterling took Alice York to the hospital for a check-up. Besides the medicine for her throat, she was also prescribed a new topical cream for the bruises on her neck.

The nurse said to apply it once now, and then again tonight after her shower.

Alice was about to reach for the medicine when Wyatt Sterling’s hand shot out and took it first. He also got a cotton swab from the nurse, then turned to face her and unscrewed the cap.

Alice said, "Third Uncle, I can do it myself."

Wyatt Sterling ignored her outstretched hand, dipped the cotton swab in the cream, and prompted her, "Head up."

She hesitated, not wanting to be too intimate with him in the hospital.

Wyatt Sterling saw through her, threatening, "Do you believe I’ll pin you down right here, right now?"

"..."

Threats were always the most effective. Upon hearing that, Alice immediately and obediently lifted her head, letting him apply the medicine.

Wyatt Sterling: "See? You can be obedient."

Alice held her breath, a knot of frustration in her chest. "If you’re so tough, Third Uncle, then stop threatening me."

"I rarely threaten people." The cotton swab in Wyatt Sterling’s hand neared her neck. "I just do things."

This time, Alice didn’t dare to respond.

Their breaths mingled, creating an intimacy thicker than a kiss. She lowered her gaze to his handsome face, so close to hers. He was focused on applying the cream, his thin lips pressed into a firm line. They were shaped like willow leaves, yet felt fiery and dominant when they kissed.

"Am I handsome?"

Wyatt Sterling noticed her unwavering stare.

Alice answered without hesitation, "Very."

Wyatt Sterling raised his eyes to meet hers. "And right now, I’m yours."

Those words sent Alice’s heart into a frenzy. It pounded, THUMP THUMP THUMP, erratically, threatening to leap out of her throat.

She quickly changed the subject to calm her racing heart. "I don’t know if you remember, Third Uncle, but in the car earlier, I mentioned that Kyle Churchill might not be the original Kyle Churchill."

"I remember." He continued applying the cream, tending to every single mark.

Seeing how calm he was, Alice guessed, "So, Third Uncle, you already knew there were two Kyle Churchills."

"And what if I did?" he asked, his tone indifferent.

But his tone was so nonchalant it made Alice’s chest tighten.

’How could he so casually say he knew there were two Kyle Churchills?’

’She’d been losing sleep over this suspicion for nights, analyzing everything, doubting everything. Especially after being frightened on her first night at the Churchill family’s home, and later being knocked down and spraining her ankle.’

’Before she could figure anything out, the strange ’Kyle Churchill’ had appeared before her and hurt her this badly.’

’Could it be that every single thing that happened was under Wyatt Sterling’s control?’

’If so... he was truly terrifying...’

"Hiss... It hurts, Third Uncle. That hurts..." Alice’s delicate brows furrowed. "Be gentler."

Wyatt Sterling put away the cotton swab and said coldly, "I’m not as terrifying as you think."

Alice froze. "How did you know what I was just thinking, Third Uncle?"

Wyatt Sterling put the medicine away too. "Isn’t it written all over your face?"

She touched her face, half-doubting him, but her mind was on his earlier words. ’He said he’s not that terrifying, which means my getting hurt wasn’t part of his plan, right?’

Her getting hurt wasn’t part of his calculations.

It was an accident...

Wyatt Sterling asked her, "How does it feel now?"

The cream made her neck feel cool and soothing, but her heart felt warm. She nodded and said it felt very cool and comfortable.

Wyatt Sterling stared quietly at the purple bruises on Alice’s neck for a moment. "I’m thinking of changing my mind."

Alice looked at him. "About what?"

Wyatt Sterling said, "He deserved to die."

...

She heard that Kyle Churchill was also in the hospital, accompanied by William Churchill and guarded by several bodyguards.

After this incident, William Churchill was probably terrified. He couldn’t handle the blow if anything else went wrong.

As they were leaving the hospital, Wyatt Sterling said he was going to see Kyle Churchill. The moment Alice heard this, her heart sank. She was afraid his anger hadn’t subsided and that he might turn violent, so she grabbed onto him and refused to let go.

Wyatt Sterling saw right through her. He smirked. "If I’ve made a decision, do you really think you can stop me?"

Alice understood and awkwardly let go.

Still, she was worried. She followed Wyatt Sterling to Kyle Churchill’s room. Kyle was still unconscious, and William Churchill sat by the bed, his face etched with worry.

As soon as Wyatt Sterling entered, William Churchill stood up immediately. "Wyatt, what are you doing here?"

"I brought my little niece to the hospital for a check-up and thought I’d stop by." Wyatt Sterling glanced at the paper-white face of Kyle Churchill on the bed. "How is he?"

In front of Wyatt Sterling, William Churchill couldn’t just keep a worried expression. He smoothed his features and said, "The doctor said he’s in shock. They’ve put him on an IV drip, and he needs to be monitored constantly."

As he spoke, William Churchill looked at Alice beside them. "Miss York, are the bruises on your neck any better?"

Alice nodded. "Much better. The doctor also prescribed a topical cream that’s supposed to be very effective."

"That’s good, that’s good," William Churchill said, nodding.

Wyatt Sterling’s voice was low. "What’s good about it?"

William Churchill’s expression froze. When he looked up and met Wyatt Sterling’s grim face, he quickly said, "Wyatt, I will definitely give you an explanation for this. It’s just that Kyle is still unconscious, so I can’t spare the focus to handle it right now. Please bear with me."

Wyatt Sterling was uncharacteristically understanding. "After something like this, that’s to be expected. I’ll wait for you at the Churchill family’s home."

Hearing this, a smile appeared on William Churchill’s face, and he said repeatedly, "Yes, yes, of course."

Wyatt Sterling turned, his expression terrifyingly cold.

The moment he left, Alice hurried after him.

After they left the room, he strode forward with his usual large steps, never slowing for anyone. Alice would normally make a conscious effort to keep up, but now, preoccupied with the matter of the two Kyles, her pace was several steps slower than his.

He noticed and deliberately slowed his pace to wait for her. But she didn’t realize he’d slowed down and bumped right into his arm.

Stumbling back half a step, she looked up and saw Wyatt Sterling looking down at her with a serious expression. "Did you hurt yourself?"

She shook her head, quiet and composed.

He reached out his hand, palm angled and open, his intention clear: for her to take it.

’This is Washington. Walking beside him, I don’t have to hide anything. I can just openly hold his hand and walk with him. This is the future I’ve dreamed of countless times.’ Alice stared at the hand before her, lost in a daze for a moment.

She slowly reached out and placed her hand in his.

Wyatt Sterling closed his hand around hers and pulled her to his side. "What are you dawdling for? Let’s go."

Alice suddenly said his full name, "Wyatt Sterling."

"Whatever you want to say, just say it." He matched her pace, walking extremely slowly.

Alice’s hand slipped from his palm, and she linked her arm through his instead. She rarely had an opportunity like this. Most of the time, she could only watch as Melody Lancaster held his arm. To say she wasn’t envious would be lying to herself.

She looked up at the man’s cool, handsome features and mustered her courage to ask, "This time, are you going to take me back with you?"

Wyatt Sterling stopped, his gaze dropping to meet hers.
