Chapter 931: Chapter 931: I’m Sorry

Zoe immediately turned her head and saw her dad hurrying over to pull her away: "Let’s go, let’s go, this is no place for you! Whatever it is, we can talk about it at home. How did you even find me at Star Region Group?"

Zoe struggled to pull her arm out of her dad’s grasp: "I’m not here to find you, I’m here to find someone else. Leave me alone, I’m not leaving."

Evan stood there in shock for a moment before he came to his senses, wondering whether he’d been too focused on work recently, busy vying for control of Lewis Clan Group, and hadn’t had a heart-to-heart talk with his daughter in so long that she didn’t want to bother with him anymore.

Seeing him freeze there, Zoe gave him a shove: "Dad, go take care of your business. You’re here to meet Young Master Hunter, right? Don’t keep him waiting, go on!"

"Oh, right, right!"

Evan slapped his forehead and quickly turned down another corridor, heading to the meeting room designated by Harry Hunter.

Zoe helplessly shook her head at her dad’s clueless and unreliable demeanor, grateful that Harry Hunter was backing him up; otherwise, her dad would have been overthrown in no time.

She reached out her hand, just about to knock on the door when the secretary’s room door suddenly opened.

She was pulled inside by the person opening the door, and the door was swiftly closed as she was pressed against it.

"This is my workplace, what are you doing here?!"

Zuohong’s voice was filled with barely contained anger. He pressed one hand on Zoe’s shoulder, pinning her against the door, and stared at her coldly.

The tone was exactly the same as when he scolded her for being brainless yesterday!

Zoe had a heap of insults ready, but ended up speechless, her eyes reddening as she bit her lip and stared at him.

Zuohong released her shoulder, standing in front of her, his tall figure casting a shadow over her.

After a long silence, seeing Zoe’s eyes brimming with tears, he finally spoke: "I’m sorry, I was too harsh, both today and yesterday."

Zoe’s tears suddenly fell, landing on the back of Zuohong’s hand.

Watching tear after tear land on his hand, Zuohong finally raised his hand and gently wiped away the tear stains from her face.

"I’m sorry."

He repeated his apology, full of regret: "I shouldn’t have snapped at you. Yesterday, I was in the wrong."

It had been a rough night for him too.

He had always been a very rational person, never hurting the innocent or losing his temper without reason. He kept a distance from everyone and rarely got angry over anything.

But yesterday, he had irrationally hurt her.

As Zuohong wiped her tears, he noticed the more he wiped, the more they came. No wonder people said women were made of water; she could really cry.

"Why didn’t you cry when I scolded you yesterday? You’re just crying now, are you that slow to react?"

"How am I supposed to explain this to President Lewis when you’re crying like this in my office?"

"Did you come here to settle accounts today? Just scold me then! Let it all out so you won’t feel wronged. I’ll let you scold me, I won’t talk back."

He thought that if she scolded him for a bit, she would feel better, and so would he.

After crying for a long while, Zoe finally choked out, "I spent my own money on shopping, why do you have to call me brainless? Are you out of your mind?"

Great, she’s talking now.

Zuohong let out a sigh of relief.

"I was wrong; I was pressured by my mom too. She said if I didn’t buy you something, I couldn’t go home. That card was actually hers. When I went back last night, she yelled at me because her card didn’t receive any statement, thinking I was too stingy."
