Chapter 909: Chapter 909: Jealous of Secretary Zuo

But here with Isabella Weaver, she has never been Isabella’s sidekick, Isabella never tries to suppress her, so apart from Harry Hunter, the cold-blooded one, everyone else treats her well.

She has seen David put his arm around Grace Watt’s shoulder, and seen Grace lean directly on David’s back to rest when tired. They laughed and chatted, cooperating seamlessly; that kind of friendship that transcends life and death is enviable.

Unfortunately, she’s not used to it yet.

Zoe Lewis was pondering, and just saw David put his arm around Grace again. Grace seemed very casual and natural.

The two whispered to each other, occasionally glancing at Jace, not knowing what plan they were brewing against him.

Zoe laughed and turned to look at Jace beside her. He seemed utterly calm, not taking their plotting to heart.

With his intelligence and strategy, not to mention David and Grace together, even with Little Zoe added, they wouldn’t be a match for Jace.

Autumn was refreshing, the sky was as clear as if washed, sunlight pouring down, casting a beautiful glow on Jace’s fair skin.

Zoe gently touched her face, feeling a bit jealous of him.

She had never been able to outshine Cherry Lewis—except in having good skin.

Yet her good skin paled in comparison in front of Jace!

His mom isn’t particularly fair-skinned, does he take after his dad?

His side profile was rather handsome, different from the sunny-type first love she once liked; he wasn’t the sunny type, nor the cold-type like Harry, but rather calm and composed.

But combined with a handsome face, his unhurried demeanor stood out exceptionally.

She had looked into him; he always had a lot of admirers ever since he was young, an academic star, the unattainable dream in female students’ hearts.

His voice was never sharp, yet inexplicably intimidating to approach.

Zoe could now shamelessly cling to him, unafraid of him getting mad, all thanks to being one of Isabella Weaver’s people, Jace was one of Harry Hunter’s people, and Harry belonged to Isabella Weaver.

She handed over a plate in a flattering manner: "Secretary Jace, I went ahead and cooked some steak; it’s tender and juicy. Have some, lunch might be late, and the pancakes aren’t filling."

She was only responsible for cooking; all other tough tasks like gathering firewood, setting up pots, and fetching water were done by Jace and Little Zoe.

So she truly hoped Jace would eat well.

Jace accepted her gesture, ate the steak, which turned out as she described, quite tender, with perfectly controlled cooking.

Little Zoe stood by, smelling the aroma of meat, drooling, unhappy to find none for himself, and loudly complained, "Why do we eat pancakes and Secretary Jace eats meat? I don’t accept it! I want meat too! I’m still growing; even Young Master said I should eat more meat!"

David flicked his head in amusement: "You’re nineteen, an adult, you won’t grow anymore! Zoe, don’t give him any, cook for me. I need to grow muscles to protect Young Master and Young Madam."

"Who says I’m not growing? As the saying goes, at twenty-three you spur, at twenty-five you bulk, I can grow until twenty-five!"

"Then I’ll grow until thirty-five! Go, fetch water, work hard, you’ll bulk faster."

Isabella Weaver was not far away, listening to their banter, laughing out loud, and asked Harry Hunter, "Did we not bring enough meat? Why are they fighting over it?"

Harry glanced coldly at his unpromising subordinates and said flatly, "We brought half a cow; they just love to mess around."
