After Betrayal - I Married a Handsome Tycoon-Chapter 129: You Just Want to Be with Me, Right?
Moira Sloan’s stomach had been thoroughly spoiled by Connor Quinn lately.
She couldn’t bring herself to eat the takeout from the little restaurants in Everwood County.
Before yesterday, Moira would have never sent Connor a message like this.
But times had changed.
’Hadn’t Connor told her to treat him like a boyfriend?’
’She was hungry, and she wanted her boyfriend to cook for her. That was perfectly normal, right?’
Moira was the type to act confidently even when she was in the wrong. Now that she was in the right, she was even more self-assured.
A few seconds after Moira sent the text, a reply came from Connor: You want me to cook?
Moira’s fingertip tapped the screen: Uh-huh.
Connor: Okay.
A few minutes later, through the floor-to-ceiling glass doors, Moira saw Connor drive away.
When he returned, he was carrying several bags of groceries. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Watching him, a smile bloomed in Moira’s eyes.
’Honestly, aside from being a little poor, there was really nothing to fault about a man like Connor Quinn.’
As Moira was staring at Connor, Shauna Duane, who was sitting in the corner, suddenly spoke up, her tone filled with disbelief. "Are you two sure you’re not dating?"
Moira pulled her gaze away and raised an eyebrow. "Which eye of yours saw us dating?"
Shauna pointed to both of her eyes. "Both of them did."
Moira said, "Then your eyesight must be failing."
Shauna huffed.
At noon, Moira took Shauna next door to the tattoo shop to freeload a meal.
Shauna was hesitant and didn’t really want to go, but in the end, Moira had to drag her there.
The moment she walked in and smelled the fragrant aroma of food, Shauna’s expression changed in a flash.
Such is the life of a foodie.
There’s nothing a good meal can’t solve. If there is, just make it more fragrant—or make it two meals.
The young guys at the tattoo shop were all pleasantly surprised to see Moira.
Only Zachary Curran’s expression was a mix of joy and worry.
The tattoo shop had its own small kitchen. Apparently, Zachary’s stomach used to be bad, so Connor would privately cook special meals for him.
They were all in their early twenties to early thirties, so they chatted freely and without restraint.
One of them took the opportunity to ask Moira, "Boss Lady, do you have a boyfriend?"
Moira leaned back on the sofa, crossed her legs, and said with a smile in her eyes, "Guess."
Moira was beaming, her eyes often as soft as water when she looked at someone. The young man blushed from her teasing and scratched the back of his head shyly. "I-I don’t know. Y-You probably do, b-but... but I’ve never seen your boyfriend..."
Before the young man could finish, Connor’s voice came from the kitchen. "Moira, come here for a second."
Moira lifted her gaze, her red lips curving into a smile. "Alright."
With that, Moira got up and headed to the kitchen.
As soon as Moira left, this group of not-quite-men, not-quite-boys turned their attention to Shauna.
They didn’t know Moira well, and her delicate yet alluring looks created a sense of distance. They didn’t dare ask too many questions.
But they were familiar with Shauna.
Shauna had pursued Connor before, and she’d been incredibly passionate about it. While it might not have been enough to move heaven and earth, it came pretty close.
She brought him breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Not only that, but she’d bring him a coat when it was windy and an umbrella when it rained.
So, they couldn’t be more familiar with Shauna.
"Shauna, does the Boss Lady have a boyfriend?"
Shauna’s face fell. "No."
"No? How could she not? The Boss Lady is so beautiful. Is no one pursuing her?"
"If no one’s after her, then I’m going to make a move."
Shauna gave a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. "Then you can give it a try."
’You just dare to try, and a certain someone will peel a layer of skin off you.’
Meanwhile, after Moira entered the kitchen, she wrinkled her nose, choking on the smell of chili peppers.
She liked eating spicy food, but she didn’t like the smell of it while it was cooking.
Seeing her reaction, Connor turned up the range hood and asked in a low voice, "What did that pack of brats ask you?"
Moira’s skirt swayed as she walked up to Connor. "They asked if I have a boyfriend."
Connor said, "What did you say?"
Moira smiled radiantly. "I said I don’t, of course."
When she finished speaking, she saw the sharp lines of Connor’s profile tighten. A lazy, dazzling smile appeared on her face. Her hand reached for the hem of his shirt, her slender fingertips lifting the fabric and slipping underneath. Her bonelessly soft fingers traced his firm abdomen, a silent provocation. "Boss Quinn, I’m doing this for your own good. If they found out you’re my unofficial lover, how could you ever maintain your authority in front of them?"
Connor’s Adam’s apple bobbed, but his voice was cold. "I don’t need to maintain my authority."
Moira laughed. Her soft hand slid along his waistline to wrap around his side, her nails lightly scraping against his skin. "You don’t need to maintain your authority... you just want me, is that it?"
