"I was just upset that our little darling was being bullied," Shen Fanyun said with a smirk, utterly unconcerned. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"They’re a prestigious family from the Capital City. You should restrain yourself," Su Xiyang said seriously.
Wang Qing was from the Capital City herself. Although Su Xiyang was unsure how this arrogant woman had become involved with her father, she had to admit that Wang Qing’s family background was exceptionally strong. Moreover, Wang Qing’s current husband was also a man of high society. Wasn’t Shen Fanyun afraid of making a powerful enemy by slapping her daughter so brazenly?
"These are troublesome times," Su Xiyang murmured. Her new company had just gotten on track, and now this woman appears out of nowhere...
「Evening.」
Shen Fanyun drove, arriving at the Cloud Hotel with Su Xiyang. Since they were the hosts, they had to keep up appearances.
Wang Qing and an unfamiliar young man were standing at the entrance, looking as if they had just arrived as well.
"Xi Yan," Wang Qing called out. Though many years had passed, Wang Qing had always followed Su Xiyang’s life from afar and naturally recognized her own daughter.
Before Su Xiyang could even offer a greeting, the young man behind Wang Qing stepped forward. His eyes lit up as he introduced himself with a confidence that was neither humble nor arrogant, "Hello, Xi Yan. My name is Jin Bowen!
"I’m twenty-eight years old, six-foot-one, and currently the junior director of an internet company in the Capital City.
"When there’s a chance, I’ll take you for a tour of the company.
"Of course, if you’re also interested in the internet industry, I would be more than happy to be your guide and personally mentor you."
Jin Bowen chattered on, his gaze sweeping over Su Xiyang’s face and figure. The more he looked, the more captivated he became.
Wang Qing chided, "It’s not good manners to stare at a young woman for so long."
"My apologies, that was presumptuous of me," Jin Bowen said with a smile, the air of a rich young master on full display.
Just then, Shen Fanyun finished parking the car and walked straight over.
The smile on Jin Bowen’s face vanished instantly. As soon as Shen Fanyun appeared, he wrapped an arm around Su Xiyang’s shoulder and asked softly, "Why haven’t you gone in yet?"
"We were just chatting," Su Xiyang muttered.
Wang Qing watched this scene in disbelief. What is going on? Isn’t this supposed to be a private dinner? Why did a man suddenly show up? And why is he acting so intimately with Su Xiyang?
"Who is this?" Wang Qing’s tone turned cold.
Su Xiyang straightened her posture and stated bluntly, "My boyfriend."
Jin Bowen was speechless. Damn it! I came here for a blind date with you, and not only do you have a boyfriend, but you brought him right here? Whose pride are you trying to crush? Calm down, calm down. As long as they aren’t married, everyone has a chance. A mere boyfriend is nothing to be afraid of. Besides, her looks are a perfect match for my taste. A world-toppling beauty like her is hard to find, and I, Jin Bowen, am determined to have her! In this day and age, there’s no woman I’ve set my sights on that I couldn’t get!
"Where did you get a boyfriend?"
"When did you start dating? Did you get my permission?"
"Su Xiyang, what on earth do you think you’re doing?"
In contrast to Jin Bowen, who managed to swallow his anger and feign indifference, Wang Qing immediately unleashed a torrent of accusations and rebukes.
Su Xiyang replied coolly, "Am I not telling you now?"
Once they entered the private room, Wang Qing continued to glare at Shen Fanyun with hostile eyes. Soon, a second group arrived. The woman leading them looked furious, her expression grim. It was Qin Yue.
"Mom," Qin Yue called out, pointedly ignoring Su Xiyang and Shen Fanyun.
"This is my college classmate, Li Nan," Qin Yue introduced him to Wang Qing.
Li Nan, a local, introduced himself as the son of a real estate tycoon.
Su Xiyang was slightly stunned. She quietly informed Shen Fanyun how renowned Li Nan’s father was locally, but she’d had no idea Li Nan was Qin Yue’s college classmate. The world is vast, yet sometimes it feels incredibly small. How can they be connected too?
"Everyone, please sit," Wang Qing said, gesturing for Qin Yue and Li Nan to take their seats.
Jin Bowen’s gaze remained fixed on Su Xiyang. The young lecher made no attempt to hide his intentions; even with the disgust written all over her face, he remained completely undeterred.
"I hear the Cloud Hotel is considered a top-tier establishment in Hangcheng City?" Wang Qing asked curiously.
As a local, Li Nan felt obliged to answer. "That’s right, Auntie.
"This place used to have a lot of rules. It was a strict membership-only system, and without a personal invitation, most people couldn’t even get in."
Then, Li Nan chuckled and said pompously, "But later, they relaxed the conditions and started doing business like everyone else."
"Oh?" Wang Qing raised an eyebrow.
"My father put them in their place," Li Nan said, puffing out his chest. "With my father’s prestige, all it took was one word from him, and the Cloud Hotel immediately reformed.
"Dare to disobey? Ha! They wouldn’t last another day in Hangcheng City!
"So, Auntie, the Cloud Hotel might seem grand to outsiders, but to our Li family, it’s just another hotel. Hardly worth mentioning."
Shen Fanyun was speechless.
Su Xiyang was speechless.
If I remember correctly, the reason the Cloud Hotel relaxed its rules was because Shen Fanyun personally gave the order, right? I was there that day. Since when did Li Nan’s father get the credit? He even claims he ’put them in their place’ and forced the management to obey? Has this guy gotten addicted to boasting? I can’t tell if this guy is lucky or unlucky. He just came here for a meal to show off, and the actual owner of the Cloud Hotel is sitting right across from him.
"Since Li Nan is so familiar with the place, why don’t you order?" Wang Qing suggested with a smile. At the same time, she marveled at how much Hangcheng City had changed over the years; she could barely recognize it.
"In that case, Auntie, don’t mind if I do," Li Nan said as he took the menu and began to order.
Like Jin Bowen, Qin Yue’s gaze was fixed on Su Xiyang from start to finish, her eyes burning with such hatred it seemed she wanted to devour her alive.
One had to admit, Shen Fanyun’s slap had been harsh. Even after all this time, the faint marks of five fingers were still visible on Qin Yue’s cheek, barely concealed by her foundation.
"I don’t even know your name yet," Wang Qing finally said, turning her attention to Shen Fanyun.
From her perspective, Jin Bowen was the ideal match for Su Xiyang. As for Shen Fanyun? He was just a nobody, unworthy of her attention.
Shen Fanyun replied, "My surname is Shen."
"How long have you two been dating?" Wang Qing pressed.
Su Xiyang cut her off, her tone firm. "That’s my private business, and it has nothing to do with you. We’re here to eat, so let’s just eat. Don’t ask unnecessary questions."
