After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 168, Why the Hell Should I Reason with You!
「The next day.」
Su Xiyang made some preparations, planning to finish her work early to get ready for the evening banquet.
Shen Fanyun, with nothing to do, was lying on the sofa in her office, intently playing a match-three game on his phone. He would occasionally shout, "Bingo!" much to Su Xiyang’s annoyance. She really wanted to slap him.
"Could you keep it down?" Su Xiyang warned.
Shen Fanyun smirked. "What, you don’t like me playing games? In that case, how about we do something more interesting?"
Just as he was about to get up, an uninvited guest suddenly appeared in the office.
She was about 1.7 meters tall, with jet-black hair, wearing exaggerated black leather pants and shoes. She had a pair of phoenix eyes that gave Shen Fanyun a vague sense of familiarity. Have I seen her somewhere before?
"Who are you?" Su Xiyang frowned.
The young woman made herself right at home, sizing up Su Xiyang’s office before casually pouring herself a cup of coffee. "The décor’s not bad," she commented. "Then again, for a girl cut off from her family’s support and without any remarkable personal abilities... I suppose getting all this must have involved a lot of unknown, perhaps even unspeakable, sacrifices, wouldn’t you say? But of course, this sort of thing is very common in society today. Women selling their looks, selling their bodies, in exchange for a career or even just money. It seems no one bats an eye anymore."
The young woman spoke haughtily, her words heavy with insinuation and aggression.
"Who exactly are you?" Su Xiyang was furious. Who is this woman? She just shows up out of nowhere and starts throwing insults and sarcastic remarks at me. What is she trying to do?
"I earned everything here through my own efforts," Su Xiyang emphasized.
The young woman raised an eyebrow and retorted indifferently, "And who’s going to believe that?"
"What? Does it only become a fact if you believe it?" Shen Fanyun pocketed his phone and calmly watched the hostile young woman.
"Heh," the woman giggled. Shen Fanyun’s words didn’t provoke her; clearly, she didn’t take him seriously at all.
She stood up and strode over to Su Xiyang. "Hello, my name is Qin Yue," she said with an arrogant tone. "I’m your... the half-sister you’ve never met before!"
Half-sister? Su Xiyang suddenly understood. This woman was Wang Qing’s biological daughter. By Qin Yue’s logic, she really was her half-sister. I’d heard that Wang Qing arranged a blind date for me, but I never expected her biological daughter to show up in Hangcheng City as well. And with such an unfriendly attitude?
"Sister, you’re even prettier in person than in your photos. Your looks are top-notch," Qin Yue chuckled softly. "With a face that beautiful, life in Hangcheng City must have been difficult. I wonder how many middle-aged, greasy men or second-generation rich kids you’ve had to accompany over the years?" Though she called her "sister," her words were utterly vile.
"Did you have breakfast in the toilet?" Shen Fanyun interjected. He approached Qin Yue, grabbed the back of her head, and with a loud BANG, slammed her head onto Su Xiyang’s desk.
It all happened so fast that Su Xiyang couldn’t react. Qin Yue was even more blindsided. Someone... someone actually hit me?!
"Feeling clear-headed now?" Shen Fanyun asked, holding Qin Yue’s head down and slamming it against the desk three or four more times. Qin Yue struggled, and by the time Shen Fanyun let her go, her forehead was already bleeding profusely.
"You... you two!" Qin Yue glanced from Shen Fanyun to Su Xiyang, her expression a mixture of terror and utter disbelief.
Shen Fanyun sneered. "Xi Yan has me, and only me. What kind of filth are you spouting? You meet her for the first time and immediately start rumors that she sold her body and served countless men to get where she is today? Go on, try slandering her again. I dare you. If I don’t knock all your teeth out today, then my surname isn’t Shen!"
With reddened eyes, Qin Yue blurted out, "Isn’t it the truth?"
SLAP!
Shen Fanyun swung his hand, the force of the slap sending Qin Yue stumbling backward, nearly losing her balance. Fresh blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.
"What was that?" Shen Fanyun feigned not to hear.
Qin Yue fell silent.
"Su Xiyang, I came all the way from the Capital City with good intentions to visit you, and this is how you treat me at our very first meeting?" Qin Yue roared, her voice filled with rage.
"Good intentions?" Shen Fanyun paused. "Are you sure about that?"
Qin Yue fell silent again.
Su Xiyang herself never expected this so-called sister, whom she had never met, to harbor such intense malice toward her. They had never even seen each other before, yet here she was, slinging all sorts of mud. Su Xiyang was quite curious. How on earth did I offend her?
"Have I offended you?" Su Xiyang asked, her expression cold.
Clutching her face, Qin Yue ground out through her teeth, "You have now."
"Fine," Su Xiyang nodded, then asked lightly, "So, how do you plan to punish me?"
Qin Yue was once more at a loss for words.
"Get lost now, or you can leave your teeth behind," Shen Fanyun warned, picking up a wet wipe to slowly clean his fingers.
Qin Yue was seething, but she was helpless. She was just a girl and no match for Shen Fanyun. If she continued to fight, she would be the one to suffer the most.
"Su Xiyang, remember what you did today. I won’t let you get away with this! And another thing, you listen to me! If you have any shame at all, you’ll refuse Mother’s invitation and stay in Hangcheng City for the rest of your life. Don’t even think about using Mother to get a foothold in the Capital City so you can climb the social ladder. As long as I, Qin Yue, am around, I advise you to give up on that foolish fantasy!"
After leaving these baffling parting words and shooting a final, fierce glare at Shen Fanyun, Qin Yue finally vanished.
Su Xiyang frowned in silence.
"She’s just a troublemaker. Don’t let her ruin your mood," Shen Fanyun comforted her.
Su Xiyang finally understood Qin Yue’s intentions. Qin Yue was afraid that if Wang Qing took Su Xiyang under her wing, all of her mother’s attention and affection would be transferred to her. That was why Qin Yue had made a special trip: to warn Su Xiyang to never even think about going to the Capital City.
Heh, as if that woman would ever truly cherish me, Su Xiyang thought. She didn’t believe that a woman who could heartlessly abandon her own daughter would be capable of deep affection or loyalty.
But on second thought, the sudden appearance of Qin Yue will almost certainly disrupt my peaceful life. What’s more, Shen Fanyun beat her up, making us complete enemies. It’s truly one thing after another, an endless string of troubles with no end in sight.
"I know you can’t stand to see others bully me, but can’t you be a little gentler? Please don’t just immediately resort to violence..."
In truth, Su Xiyang wasn’t blaming Shen Fanyun for his actions. She was just worried that his recklessness would cause him to suffer for it later.
