After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 134: Do you want evidence, or do you want your life?!
Shen Fanyun casually pulled over a chair and confidently took a seat under everyone’s watchful eyes. In that instant, the crowd was completely dazed. They had thought Shen Fanyun was arrogant, conceited, and dismissive. But now, upon a closer look... Why does this young man seem so imposing and commanding?
Whether it was Hong Tianzhao, Chen Lie, or Xu Tai, all stood nearby in silence. By comparison, these three so-called big shots from the Capital City oddly resembled Shen Fanyun’s underlings.
While Hong Danggui was busy "inviting people," Shen Fanyun turned to the nearby Hong Tianzhao and asked, "I hear you’re quite famous in the Capital City, the kind of man whose mere stomp could make the whole city tremble?"
"Hmph." Hong Tianzhao, hands clasped behind his back, responded with a cold snort.
"How come I’ve never heard of you then?" Shen Fanyun asked curiously, his hands crossed, fingers tapping idly.
The crowd exchanged glances at his words. Was his tone, his very posture, a challenge to Hong Tianzhao’s power? Hong Tianzhao’s expression also turned slightly unnatural. Fortunately, Xu Tai reacted quickly, stepping in to salvage the situation. "The fact you haven’t heard of him only proves your own ignorance!"
It was a barely adequate explanation.
Just then, Hong Danggui returned with about seven or eight young women. They were clearly panic-stricken, having been severely threatened.
"They’re... they’re all here," Hong Danggui stammered, adding, "Just these few."
Shen Fanyun’s gaze swept over them, but he didn’t find Lin Jia or Li Ruoshui.
"You truly never learn. Don’t you know that I despise being deceived?"
Hong Danggui was speechless.
"What are you waiting for? Go!" Hong Tianzhao commanded.
Hong Danggui dared not delay and reluctantly led out a second group. The people Shen Fanyun was looking for were still not among them.
Shen Fanyun’s silence puzzled Hong Tianzhao. Had there been a mistake? Had Shen Fanyun’s friends simply vanished into thin air, having nothing to do with the Hong Family? If the Hong Family had been wrongly accused, especially after the earlier fight, then he would have grounds to take Shen Fanyun to task.
"Your Excellency had better be sure. It won’t look good if you’ve wrongly accused the Hong Family, will it?" Hong Tianzhao said coldly.
Shen Fanyun looked past Hong Tianzhao, his gaze fixing on Hong Danggui with a smile that was not quite a smile.
Hong Danggui grew nervous. Gritting her teeth, she decided to be smart this time. "I’ll go again."
Hong Tianzhao was stunned. There are more?
The third batch was brought out. It included Lin Jia, Li Ruoshui, and two other young women. In terms of looks, this group was by far the most stunning and memorable.
"Minister, you really came to save me, teehee." Seeing Shen Fanyun, Lin Jia was instantly overjoyed. She quickened her steps, eager to throw herself into his arms. This man is too charming; how could anyone not adore him?
But in the next second, Lin Jia could only watch as Li Ruoshui strode past her. Without a word, Li Ruoshui wrapped her arms around Shen Fanyun’s neck. "I knew you would come."
Lin Jia was left speechless. Damn it! How did this Miss Li steal my next move and all my lines?
Only then did Lin Jia belatedly realize that the close friend Li Ruoshui had mentioned was the very same person she had—Shen Fanyun.
"Are you alright?" Shen Fanyun gently rubbed Li Ruoshui’s head.
Li Ruoshui shook her head. "I’m fine."
"And you?" Shen Fanyun asked Lin Jia.
"I’m okay, Minister," Lin Jia said, waving her hand. She was smiling, but it felt somewhat bitter.
Lin Jia cautiously edged closer to Shen Fanyun. Seeing the intimacy between him and Li Ruoshui, her heart was struck by a sudden, unbearable pang.
Hong Tianzhao was unwilling to make an enemy of Shen Fanyun. The young man had already demonstrated his formidable methods and strength; it was better to resolve feuds than create them. A plague god like this should be sent away as soon as possible.
"I have returned your people to you," Hong Tianzhao said. "The two you were looking for are here, safe and sound, not a single one missing. So... please understand that our reception is now over. If your excellency arrived on foot, I can arrange a car to send you back."
Hong Tianzhao’s meaning was simple: *I’ve returned your people, now you can get lost!*
Shen Fanyun turned to Li Ruoshui first. "How did you get here?" he asked, though he already knew the answer.
"We were kidnapped," Li Ruoshui stated plainly.
Hong Danggui immediately rebuked her, "What are you talking about? You clearly came here to work of your own free will. What do you mean, ’kidnapped’?"
The reason Hong Danggui had brought the women out in three groups was her fear that some of the more headstrong ones would be determined to take the Hong Family to court. Unexpectedly, Li Ruoshui had just torn that flimsy pretense apart.
Hong Danggui shot Li Ruoshui a meaningful glare, a clear warning for her to be careful. You could be careless with what you ate, but not with what you said. Disaster always followed a loose tongue.
"I have a perfectly good, legitimate job. Why on earth would I come to work at your place?" Li Ruoshui scoffed, completely ignoring Hong Danggui’s warning and threat.
Shen Fanyun turned to Lin Jia. "Were you also kidnapped?"
"Yes," Lin Jia nodded.
In fact, through Zhan Feng’s intervention, Shen Fanyun had already obtained the surveillance footage from the scene. He had followed the trail and gathered all the necessary evidence. The reason for this charade was simply to gauge the Hong Family’s attitude: would they honestly admit their mistake, or would they stubbornly resist and deny everything to the end?
Shen Fanyun stood up and strode over to Hong Danggui. "Kidnapping in broad daylight. Doesn’t your Hong Family owe me an explanation?"
Hong Danggui gritted her teeth, each word ringing with conviction, "Slander! Rumors! Their words hold no credibility. The Hong Family would disdain such an act!" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"Do you want evidence?" Shen Fanyun asked.
Hong Danggui remained silent.
"If you want it, I can give it to you. But if the evidence proves that you, Hong Danggui, are not only full of lies but are also playing the victim..."
"Then I will end you."
Hong Danggui froze. His oppressive presence was immense, making her extremely uncomfortable. Her heart began to pound, inexplicably anxious and wildly erratic.
Shen Fanyun looked down at Hong Danggui, who was only inches away, his tone firm. "You have one minute to decide. Do you want the evidence or not?"
The entire hall fell silent. Even Hong Tianzhao felt a surge of unease. He sensed a murderous intent, an almost tangible killing intent. Is Shen Fanyun really planning to start a massacre here tonight?!
"Thirty seconds left," Shen Fanyun reminded her. "If you remain silent, I’ll take that as you admitting you need the evidence."
Hong Danggui said nothing.
"Twenty seconds left."
She still said nothing.
"Last ten seconds."
GASP!
Profuse cold sweat beaded on Hong Danggui’s forehead, and her body began to sway restlessly.
