Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Little Rascal, Missing Your Sister Yet?!

Shen Fanyun returned empty-handed and could only go back to Lu Jinshu’s office.

Lu Jinshu gave Shen Fanyun a meaningful look. "Has she left?"

"She’s gone," Shen Fanyun shrugged, his tone helpless.

Lu Jinshu just said, "Oh," and motioned for Shen Fanyun to come over for tea.

Shen Fanyun asked, "Don’t you have anything you want to ask?"

Lu Jinshu suddenly seemed a bit melancholic. He picked up the cigarette Shen Fanyun had handed him and lit it skillfully before slowly exhaling a long puff of white smoke.

"What you young people get up to is none of my business," he said. "However, if you dare to bully Feiyan, then this old man will have to fight you."

Lu Jinshu was half-joking, half-serious. His gaze fell on Lu Feiyan’s personal belongings left on the office sofa, where a black poster caught his attention.

Shen Fanyun took the hint, walked over, and picked it up.

A debut poster?

Shen Fanyun was surprised. The poster showed Lu Feiyan in an artistic photograph; she was sitting there holding a guitar, wearing black thigh-high boots and a leather jacket. The whole look exuded a cool, cocky vibe.

That’s Lu Feiyan’s style!

"A debut?" Lu Jinshu asked, puzzled.

After a closer look, he finally understood. His precious granddaughter was planning to enter the entertainment industry as a new singer, and she had chosen her hometown, Hangcheng City, as the site for her debut promotions!

Shen Fanyun grew thoughtful. Although Lu Feiyan had completely avoided inheriting her grandfather’s academic intelligence, she was not to be underestimated when it came to the arts. Painting, singing, and even dancing—she was proficient in them all.

According to the old principal, whenever Lu Feiyan heard music as a child, she would instantly dance along to the beat, waving her tender little hands and feet. To put it bluntly, Lu Feiyan was born for art.

"This kid," Lu Jinshu sighed. My plan was for her to find a stable job and lead a steady life. But this child... one day she’s traveling the country under the guise of sketching nature, the next she’s hollering while strumming her guitar. And now, she wants to debut?

"Since she likes it, just let her," Shen Fanyun consoled him.

Lu Jinshu nodded. He wasn’t some hidebound old pedant. Since his granddaughter liked it, he figured he should just let her pursue it.

Shen Fanyun took another look at the poster and noticed that Lu Feiyan hadn’t signed with some small-time entertainment company; she was with Jinhai Records. They were one of the heavyweights in the industry, with branches in places like Capital City and Hangcheng City.

Jinhai Records didn’t sign artists lightly. In other words, if they decided to sign someone, that person had to be overflowing with exceptional talent.

A performance tomorrow at eight?

At his age, Lu Jinshu naturally didn’t want to join the bustling crowd; his energy was limited. As for Shen Fanyun... he’ll probably go to show his support, won’t he?

"Alright, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading out," Shen Fanyun said, bidding Lu Jinshu farewell.

Lu Jinshu waved as he stood up to tidy Lu Feiyan’s personal belongings.

Compared to ten years ago, today’s Hangcheng No.1 Middle School had more than doubled in size. Walking among the lush green trees, Shen Fanyun felt like a complete stranger.

A pair of warm, soft hands covered his eyes from behind. "Guess who?" a voice whispered, its owner believing she had been completely silent.

Instead of playing along, Shen Fanyun simply hoisted her onto his back.

"You need to eat more. Look how skinny you’ve gotten, you’re light as a feather," Shen Fanyun muttered.

Li Ruoshui rested her head on Shen Fanyun’s shoulder and smiled. "Are you worried about me?"

"You guess," Shen Fanyun raised an eyebrow.

"This is called slender. What do you know?"

Li Ruoshui didn’t seem to mind. In truth, her frame was all skin and bones; while she had graceful curves, her ribs were clearly visible when she undressed.

"Why did you decide to visit me today?" Li Ruoshui asked curiously.

Shen Fanyun answered truthfully, "The old man called me for tea, and I figured I could stop by to see you on the way, so I came."

"So, your main purpose was to make a special trip to see me?" Li Ruoshui wrapped her arms around Shen Fanyun’s neck, a sudden wave of happiness causing her face to light up with a smile. "Since you’re being so considerate and cheering me up... how about I reward you?"

What the...?

"No need."

Shen Fanyun decisively refused. He didn’t want to die young. He had just crawled out of Lin Meiqing’s bed early this morning; he wasn’t about to fall into Li Ruoshui’s tender embrace now.

Even a robust bull would get tired! Moderation! A man has to know moderation for things to last!

"Really?" Li Ruoshui looked skeptical. How could words like that from Shen Fanyun’s mouth seem so unreal? So impractical? She knew full well that this guy had extraordinary energy and a desire so strong it was hard to comprehend. The last time, he had practically wanted to melt her completely.

Something’s off! As the saying goes, when a bull suddenly stops grazing or loses interest in you, it’s usually because he’s already eaten his fill elsewhere!

"Hmph." Li Ruoshui huffed and jumped off Shen Fanyun’s back, walking ahead on her own.

"What’s wrong?" Shen Fanyun asked.

Li Ruoshui pouted. "I’m upset!"

"Alright, alright," Shen Fanyun quickly changed the subject. "I met Feiyan today."

"Who?" Li Ruoshui was stunned. The old principal’s precious granddaughter, Lu Feiyan? Wasn’t she traveling? Why did she suddenly come back to Hangcheng City?

"Did she come back especially for you?" Li Ruoshui tilted her head, scrutinizing Shen Fanyun without blinking.

Shen Fanyun joked, "Do I have that much charm? For her to come back especially for me?" Getting back on topic, he continued, "Lu Feiyan is planning to debut. If it goes well, she’ll be a big star in the future."

Shen Fanyun was still pondering. Should I go to Lu Feiyan’s debut party tomorrow night? After all, our meeting today ended on a rather sour note. Would my sudden appearance just annoy her? That girl has a stubborn personality—the kind nine bulls couldn’t drag back. Once she decides to turn on you, even I would be helpless.

Feiyan is so talented, especially her singing. Her voice is heavenly! She might really become a star. I need to get her to give me a stack of autographed photos in advance, hehe. Once she’s famous, these will be priceless. Hahaha, a business with a huge return on investment! No, wait, there’s basically no cost at all! Li Ruoshui’s eyes began to sparkle, her mind already racing with the possibilities.

Shen Fanyun sighed helplessly. I was hoping she could give me some advice, but it seems this little terror is just being an idiot!

"Do you have a class this afternoon?" Shen Fanyun asked.

Li Ruoshui nodded. "Yes, this is just my break. My class is next period."

"Perfect." Shen Fanyun smiled and made a swift exit.

"Jerk! Are you in such a hurry to run away because you’re afraid I’ll eat you?" Li Ruoshui fumed. She had been hoping to share a tender moment with him.
