Chapter 169: Chapter 167: Why Don’t You Act Cute for Me?

Then, Qin Yun rolled her eyes, tactically twisted her waist to the side, and quickly got out of bed.

Having escaped Pei Yan’s embrace, Qin Yun regained her momentum and said sternly, "It’s just a morning kiss, after all!"

Then she knelt on the bed, leaned down, held Pei Yan’s cheeks with both hands, and gave him a forceful kiss on the forehead, raising her eyebrows triumphantly, "Morning kiss!"

After the kiss, she immediately withdrew and stood up straight, declaring with confidence, "I’m going to freshen up first."

With that, she quickly turned and entered the bathroom.

Pei Yan watched Qin Yun’s retreating figure, reached a hand to touch the forehead she had just kissed, and burst out laughing.

He slowly got out of bed, tied the robe belt, opened the door, and went next door.

Meanwhile, in the bathroom, Qin Yun’s cheeks were a bit red, her whole pale face was flushed, and her heartbeat was somewhat accelerated.

Thump, thump, thump—

In the quiet bathroom, these sounds were particularly loud.

She placed a hand over her heart, softly scolding it for being inexperienced, "You’ve kissed that kiss before, it’s just a kiss on the forehead! It’s not like you’ve never done it! Why the rush?!!"

Qin Yun raised her eyes and saw her cheeks in the mirror were flushed, her bright eyes twinkling with allure, looking like a bewitching siren!!

Seriously!! What’s with those eyes? What expression is that!!

She merely gave Pei Yan a peck on the forehead, why does it look like she just drained his vitality?!!

Qin Yun vigorously rubbed her cheeks with her hands, convincing herself that everything she witnessed was an illusion! It surely wasn’t her!

She, the mighty Divine Beast, can’t be compared to those lowly little goblins!!

Qin Yun turned on the tap, washed her face, and looked slightly better before beginning to brush her teeth.

When she finished freshening up and came out, she found that Pei Yan was no longer in the room, and immediately let out a breath of relief.

She applied some skincare products and headed downstairs.

As she reached halfway down, she saw Pei Yan holding a glass of milk, looking at her with a teasing smile.

Images of what just happened flashed through Qin Yun’s mind, warming her cheeks again. She pressed her lips together, pretending not to see him, and averted her gaze.

Yet, Pei Yan didn’t let her go, taking a leisurely sip of milk, and said, "There’s seafood porridge you like for breakfast."

Instinctively capturing Qin Yun’s attention, she asked while descending, "What else is there?"

Pei Yan paused, "There’s quite a variety."

Other than the porridge he specifically requested last night, the other dishes were regular morning offerings, made differently every day.

Qin Yun quickened her pace downstairs as Mrs. Zhang had just come in from outside, hearing her footsteps. She immediately raised her head and, seeing it was Qin Yun, called out, "Young Madam, you’re up."

"Mm, Mrs. Zhang, what’s for breakfast?" Qin Yun asked while taking the last steps down.

"The Young Master asked last night to prepare the porridge you like. Would you like a Western or Chinese breakfast?" Mrs. Zhang said, leading Qin Yun into the kitchen and opening the warmer that held steamed shumai, soup dumplings, and omelets.

"If you don’t want these, you can have a sandwich and fried eggs, or something else can be made on the spot," Mrs. Zhang added.

"I’m not picky, just serve me everything," Qin Yun glanced at the modest portions and said directly.

If she had only one option, she might not be full.

During the few days Qin Yun had stayed, Mrs. Zhang had some understanding of her appetite, knowing she wouldn’t leave food unfinished. She simply took a plate, loaded all the breakfast items, and scooped out a bowl of porridge, and a bowl of bird’s nest from the pot, serving them together.

When Qin Yun came out, Pei Yan had almost finished eating.

"Do you want some more?" Qin Yun asked, sipping on her bird’s nest, before looking over at Pei Yan.

Pei Yan finished the last of his milk, set the glass down, and lazily leaned back in his chair, his hands folded in front as his eyes landed on her moist lips, "No, you go ahead."

Qin Yun was just being polite, not really intending to share with Pei Yan.

"Oh," she replied with a smile and began to eat.

Qin Yun ate quickly; the portions weren’t large, so she finished in no time.

While wiping her mouth with a napkin, she noticed Pei Yan was still seated, watching her. Her hand hesitated mid-movement, "Are you just going to sit there and watch me the whole time?"

"Where else should I go?" Pei Yan countered.

"Aren’t you busy?" Qin Yun asked, puzzled.

"I haven’t picked a script yet, so I’m taking a break during this time. The company has professional managers; I only handle some occasional business matters," Pei Yan replied earnestly.

"Oh," Qin Yun twitched the corners of her mouth.

Just then, Qin Yun’s phone rang.

She glanced at it, an unknown caller, and answered.

"This is Director Chen Lan from ’Mystery Shadow.’ Do you have time to come over and sign the contract?" Director Chen Lan went straight to the point.

Qin Yun immediately sat up straight, "I have time, I can come now."

"Do you currently have an agency?" Director Chen Lan asked.

"No, is it impossible to sign without one?" Qin Yun tightened her grip on the phone but asked calmly.

Upon hearing this, Director Chen Lan seemed to chuckle, reassuring her, "No, no need to worry, I was just asking. Just bring your ID to sign the contract, I’ll text you the address."

"Alright," Qin Yun replied.

After hanging up, Qin Yun breathed a sigh of relief, slumping back in her chair.

Pei Yan raised an eyebrow, "Did you pass the audition from last time?"

"Yes, they asked me to come over and sign the contract," Qin Yun nodded.

A message beeped on her phone, indicating the address for signing the contract at the company.

Qin Yun beamed, "Mr. Pei, could you do me a favor?"

"Oh, you certainly know how to get me to do things," Pei Yan raised his eyebrows, neither refusing nor agreeing.

"Ahem, no, it’s not like that at all! Who would dare command Mr. Pei! I’m requesting, please give me a ride, Mr. Pei," Qin Yun blinked innocently. Even if she dared, she wouldn’t admit it out loud!

"Oh, is that so? If I take you, what’s in it for me?" Pei Yan raised an eyebrow, clearly not willing to do this for free.

Qin Yun: "..."

Benefit, benefit, benefit!!

This guy!!

Can’t even have fun anymore!!

Isn’t he just a driver!!

She rose angrily and walked out, only to return two minutes later.

Before she could speak, Pei Yan asked nonchalantly, "What, Old Li isn’t around?"

Qin Yun gritted her teeth: "..."

He’s already guessed it!!!

"Aren’t we a couple? Do I really need to offer anything just for a ride?" Qin Yun softened her voice.

Pei Yan leaned forward slightly, "In a normal marriage, wouldn’t the wife have to act cute to the husband before asking for favors? Why not try acting cute for me to hear?"

Acting cute?

Qin Yun’s face read: You gotta be kidding me, right?
