Adored by Him: My Blissful Days as the Girl Next Door-Chapter 418 - 417 You Fairy
The hospital’s security room was quite spacious, with four off-duty guards surrounding the troublemaking drunkard and the victim, Peng Hui. Qu Chaozong, who acted bravely to assist, was also held back to help provide witness testimony when the police arrived.
When the police came, the guards had already called up the hospital’s surveillance footage, clearly showing how the drunkard bumped into people and who first started hitting. The responsibility was clear.
Peng Hui clung tightly to Qu Chaozong, losing the bit of courage she had mustered once she saw a familiar face.
Qu Chaozong helped her deal with the police, quickly finishing the report and calling the drunkard’s family. After negotiations, the drunkard compensated Peng Hui with one thousand yuan for medical expenses, settling the matter privately.
Peng Hui, with her eyes red and swollen, held the money and said to Qu Chaozong, "Brother Chao, thank you. I really don’t know what I would have done without you today."
Qu Chaozong comforted her, saying, "It’s okay, it’s all over now. You’re not really hurt, are you?"
Besides having a swollen face from being slapped, Peng Hui was otherwise unharmed. She shook her head, "I’m fine."
Under these circumstances, Qu Chaozong couldn’t leave her to go back alone, so he asked with concern, "Where are you going? I’ll take you."
It was then that Peng Hui remembered that she was originally going to the supermarket to buy batteries. Qu Chaozong said, "Perfect, we need to go to the supermarket too. Let’s go together."
Only then did Qu Chaozong find time to introduce Peng Hui and Zhang Xin to each other.
Qu Chaozong pointed at Zhang Xin, "This is my girlfriend. You can call her Sister Xin, just like Meimei does."
Turning to Peng Hui, Qu Chaozong said, "This is Meimei’s friend, Peng Hui," and added after a pause, "Her sister is my ex-girlfriend, Peng Rui, the one I mentioned before."
Both Zhang Xin and Peng Hui were taken aback, not expecting Qu Chaozong to be so straightforward.
Zhang Xin reacted first, giving Peng Hui a slight smile, "Hello, Peng Hui."
Peng Hui had retied her hair, letting her long hair hang neatly down her back. With delicate features and a nice face, Zhang Xin examined Peng Hui’s appearance, estimating what Peng Rui might look like.
Peng Hui politely greeted, "Hello, Sister Xin."
This was the second time Peng Hui met Zhang Xin, and the lasting impression from their first meeting was profound. The alluringly beautiful woman was now dressed only in tight-fitting denim, with her top partially open revealing a white T-shirt underneath with a prominent bust. Her seaweed-like long curly hair draped to the side, and her eyes curved slightly as she spoke, revealing a particularly gentle smile.
After greeting, Zhang Xin naturally hooked her arm through Qu Chaozong’s, without making any special effort to be warm with Peng Hui or displaying any trace of hostility. She didn’t even ask why Peng Hui was in the hospital so late at night.
Zhang Xin’s generous and proper demeanor relieved both Qu Chaozong and Peng Hui, as they continued on together to pick out what they needed at the supermarket.
Peng Hui held no hostility towards Zhang Xin, simply found her very beautiful and stylishly dressed, and couldn’t help but glance at her a few more times. When Peng Hui sneaked a peek at Zhang Xin again, Zhang Xin suddenly looked up at her.
In the moment their eyes met, Zhang Xin didn’t offer the expected courteous smile, but rather furrowed her brow and looked away coolly.
Peng Hui stood there, stunned, before she couldn’t help but laugh, thinking that Zhang Xin was actually quite genuine—and unlike others who pretended, she somehow grew a bit fond of her.
On the way back to the hospital, Qu Chaozong didn’t ask why Peng Hui was there at night. When Peng Hui got off the elevator, he just politely bid farewell without offering to walk her back to the ward.
After stepping out of the elevator, Peng Hui waved a hand in farewell before turning to head towards the ward. After a few steps, she stopped, subconsciously looked back at the elevator to see Qu Chaozong talking to Zhang Xin as the doors were closing. Both had smiles on their faces, looking perfectly matched and harmonious.
With the elevator door shutting completely, Zhang Xin leaned closer to Qu Chaozong, asking in a low voice only the two could hear, "Why was she at the hospital?"
Qu Chaozong said, "Shi Yang mentioned that Peng Rui called him for help because she had a threatened miscarriage, so he brought her to the hospital."
Zhang Xin turned to gauge Qu Chaozong’s expression and asked, "Did you go to show your support?"
Qu Chaozong shot her a sideways glance, "What, do you want me to go?"
Zhang Xin immediately clung to his arm, "You’re not allowed to go, even if she begs you."
Qu Chaozong couldn’t help but laugh, "Don’t worry, I won’t go."
Zhang Xin laughed as well, poking Qu Chaozong, "Smart move, and didn’t expect you to be quite honest?"
Qu Chaozong casually said, "There’s nothing to hide from you about this."
Zhang Xin contentedly praised, "I love your honesty, well done, Chaozi, I’m simply crazy about you."
Getting out of the elevator, Qu Chaozong suddenly turned to whisper warmly in Zhang Xin’s ear, asking, "Does that make you crazy about me?"
Zhang Xin shamelessly replied, "Not just this, I’ve always been madly in love with you, deeply and passionately."
Qu Chaozong was teased back, nearly choking on his own saliva.
He looked at Zhang Xin, who threw him a seductive glance, and seeing the nearby ward, he gritted his teeth and exclaimed, "You little vixen!"
On the other side, when Peng Hui returned to the ward with the batteries, her sister was sitting up in bed, staring at the young couple next to them, listening to their conversation.
Peng Hui walked over, calling out, "Sis."
Peng Rui looked up and, seeing Peng Hui in a disheveled state, her eyes widened in surprise, "What happened to you? Who bullied you?"
Peng Hui took out the money, handed it to Peng Rui, and explained what had happened.
Peng Rui grew emotional on the spot, insistently saying that they shouldn’t let it go, how dare he hit her!
Watching her sister get upset over her being hit, Peng Hui felt a surge of warmth and carefully hugged her sister’s arm, "Sis, I’m fine, Brother Chao pulled the drunk away, and he didn’t really hit me."
Peng Rui was stunned and asked, "Chaozi? How did you run into him?"
Reading her sister’s expression, Peng Hui thought for a moment and then spoke truthfully, "Brother Chao and his girlfriend happened to be passing by, saw me in a fight, and came to help."
Peng Rui’s face changed instantly, and she suddenly asked, "Did he...ask about me?"
Peng Hui shook her head, "No."
The color drained from Peng Rui’s face, and an extremely complex emotion flickered in her eyes, making her seem very desolate.
Seeing her sister like this made Peng Hui immediately regret bringing up Qu Chaozong, realizing it was completely unnecessary...
