Adored by Him: My Blissful Days as the Girl Next Door-Chapter 367 - 366: Marry Early, Have Children Early
Shi Yang handed over the caregiving task to Qu Chaozong, picked up his phone, and quickly typed out a short message to send, informing his little wife to obediently go home after school and have her little butt cleaned, waiting for him to spoil her.
Qu Chaozong watched Shi Yang tapping on the keyboard, "Sending a message?"
Shi Yang didn’t lift his head or open his eyes, "Yeah."
Qu Chaozong’s tone was knowing, "Reporting the situation to your wife?"
Shi Yang raised his eyebrows, tacitly approving, with a happy curve at the corner of his mouth.
Qu Chaozong complained, "Damn! Having a wife makes you inhumane!"
After sending the message, Shi Yang casually tossed the phone aside, lifted his head, and looked at Qu Chaozong, "I’ve been meaning to ask, is it true you’ve been going home on time every day these past few days?"
Qu Chaozong shrugged, "Why, are you checking on my shifts?"
Shi Yang hesitated for a moment but couldn’t resist asking, "Is everything okay with you and Zhang Xin?"
Qu Chaozong tilted his head mischievously, "We’re good. If you’re really worried about me, let me take your turn tonight. I also want to do something with my wife to exchange some feelings properly."
Shi Yang quickly refused, "Forget it!"
Qu Chaozong then laughed, a smile spreading from his mouth to the corners of his eyes, not reaching his eyes.
Some things are inconvenient to bring up with good brothers; one’s own private matters need to be solved by oneself, and there’s no use counting on others. Besides, for this matter, others wouldn’t be of much help.
Qu Chaozong left the office in the afternoon and went to a pharmacy first, picking and choosing for a long time; finally, he chose a simulation quit-smoking device. Holding it in his mouth, he could taste a bit of tobacco flavor. Although it was fake, it could alleviate some of the pain of quitting smoking.
Qu Chaozong carefully read the instructions and asked about the usage and precautions of the quit-smoking device, only then did he pay the bill.
The hospital was always crowded. Seeing the long queue in front of the elevator, Qu Chaozong immediately turned around and headed for the stairs, preferring to climb a couple of extra floors rather than squeeze with others.
When he reached the third floor, he checked the time and felt it was a bit early, so he continued upward, planning to visit Zhao Dazhuang first.
When Qu Chaozong entered the room, Zhao Dazhuang was leaning against the hospital bed, gesturing and instructing Liu Xiue to record in a notebook, "Old Xiao’s family should definitely be invited when the time comes. Hasn’t his son graduated from college? We should note it down and reserve a spot for him just in case."
Qu Chaozong entered with a cheerful smile, "Yo! What are you busy with, Uncle, Aunt?"
Seeing that it was Qu Chaozong, they both smiled and invited him to sit.
Liu Xiue sat on the companion bed, giving Qu Chaozong the round stool, "Nothing much, just passing time by researching who to invite to the wedding banquet."
Qu Chaozong was taken aback, "Wedding banquet? You mean Shi Yang and Meimei? Isn’t it too early to plan right now?"
Zhao Dazhuang chuckled, "It’s not too early. Once they finish the registration after the New Year, they can hold the ceremony any time."
Qu Chaozong also laughed, teasing, "Can’t even wait for college graduation; is Shi Yang rushing you?"
Zhao Dazhuang said, "Not really, it’s us as parents who are in a hurry."
Liu Xiue joined, "Exactly, better to get married and have kids early. Yangyang’s parents and we are still young and energetic to help take care."
Qu Chaozong’s eyes widened, "In such a hurry? How old is Meimei anyway?"
Liu Xiue replied, "When I was Meimei’s age, I was already a mom. Besides, by the time their house is ready and the ceremony can actually be held, Meimei will almost be graduating college."
Qu Chaozong said, "I thought only my mom was pushing me day in and day out, turns out all parents are the same."
Liu Xiue earnestly said, "It’s for your own good too. By the way, Chaozi, when are you planning to organize your wedding?"
Qu Chaozong quickly begged for mercy, "I just bought my house, it’s not even finished yet; it’ll take at least a couple of years."
Liu Xiue said, "You should hurry up then. Oh, I haven’t seen what your girlfriend looks like, when will you bring her over for us to see?"
Qu Chaozong agreed, "Alright, after my uncle gets discharged."
After staying in the ward for a while and seeing that the time was about the same as it was yesterday, Qu Chaozong got up to say goodbye, "I have a friend also in this hospital, I’ll go check on them first."
Seeing him empty-handed, Liu Xiue hurriedly pulled out a bag of fruits from the cabinet, "You shouldn’t visit someone empty-handed, take this with you."
Qu Chaozong thought to himself that the old man’s room probably had plenty of these, so after some consideration, he took out two apples from the bag, "I’ll put two in my pocket for myself. If he can eat, I’ll give him one."
Liu Xiue was stunned, thinking that the other person might have just had surgery and couldn’t eat anything, so she didn’t persuade further and put the bag back in the cabinet.
Qu Chaozong went down the stairs to the third floor, leisurely wandered into the corridor, turned into the ward he had previously helped the old man arrange, knocked on the door and entered. Upon peeking inside, he saw three beds lined up side by side, all occupied by strangers.
Before anyone inside could ask whom he was looking for, he quickly apologized and backed out. It suddenly dawned on him, given the old man’s position, he had probably been transferred to a VIP ward.
Qu Chaozong asked for the location of the VIP ward at the nurse’s station. As he turned his head to go there, he saw from a distance the old man standing in front of the hot water room door, chatting warmly with an elderly lady also in a hospital gown.
Having found the right person, Qu Chaozong was not in a hurry anymore. He leaned against the counter in front of the nurse’s station and watched the two elders chatting. After about five or eight minutes, the elderly lady waved goodbye and headed to the elevator. The old man also turned into the hot water room, returning with a covered water cup.
Only then did Qu Chaozong step forward to greet him with a smile, "Old man!"
The old man looked up, saw him, and was overjoyed, "Hey, I was wondering when you’d come! Come on, let’s go to my room."
Qu Chaozong threw a mischievous glance, smiling slyly, "Was that your lady friend?"
The old man laughed and mocked, "You rascal, making up stories about me! With all those wrinkles, a lady friend indeed! She’s my old colleague."
They talked and laughed as they walked to the ward, Qu Chaozong asked, "Is there anyone else in the room?"
The old man said, "No, just me."
Qu Chaozong curiously asked, "Where’s your son Da Bao, leaving you alone in the hospital?"
The old man explained, "Don’t mention it, Da Bao’s father came to the provincial city, there are relatives and friends on this side, and they insisted on dragging Da Bao along to show up."
The old man with a belly full of complaints couldn’t help but vent, "I just can’t stand him, but he insists on coming, it’s so irritating!"
Qu Chaozong didn’t ask further; after all, it was a personal family matter that outsiders shouldn’t meddle in, so he reached out to take the water cup, "Let me hold it for you."
The old man handed it to him casually, without any fuss.
