Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him-Chapter 301
Natalie Vaughn asked about the live broadcast time, and Zoe Chandler replied with a smile.
"To ensure you win, the live broadcast time is entirely based on your schedule. As long as it’s not in the middle of the night, since fans might not be able to handle it."
Natalie contemplated for a moment and then accepted the invitation.
Zoe heard the sound of water.
"Life seems quite comfortable while you’re studying abroad. It’s morning, right? Aren’t you in a hurry for class?"
"I’m doing okay. Zane Thorne will accompany me to class today, and he’s making breakfast right now."
Zoe was genuinely envious and couldn’t help but start venting her recent frustrations to Natalie.
"You have no idea how hard it is to be a manager. I finally spotted a promising talent, but they’re such a lovestruck fool. A few days ago, they were even photographed by someone. Guess what? This kid actually wants to go public with their relationship!"
Even over the phone, Natalie could sense Zoe’s anger.
"I publicly announced my marriage from the start."
Zoe: ...
"How can you compare? Others rely on the entertainment industry for a living. Miss Vaughn... or rather, Mrs. Thorne, you just dabble in it for fun. How can you compare?"
Zoe didn’t quite understand these things.
"Moreover, the fan base for male artists is different from that of female artists. Male artists dating is the most damaging."
Natalie played with the rose petals in the water and asked.
"So, Ms. Chandler, why are you telling me all this?"
Zoe seemed to be waiting for Natalie to ask this.
"Don’t you really want to return to the entertainment circle and have some fun? I’ve been thinking for the past few months that I’d really like to manage you."
Natalie didn’t immediately refuse as she used to, instead saying.
"If I remember correctly, my contract should be signed under The Thorne Group. Didn’t you know?"
Zoe: ...
"When did that happen?"
"Last year, I think. Zane mentioned it to me once, and I didn’t mind, so I just went along with it."
Zoe: ...
"Why don’t you mention it to President Thorne and get me signed over as well?"
Natalie couldn’t help but laugh.
"If Felix Langdon knew, he’d scold us for poaching talent. Why take such a drastic step? Langdon Entertainment is one of the top in the industry. Do you really want to manage me that badly?"
"I do! You have no idea how thrilling it is to personally groom a superstar. It’s simply amazing."
Saying this, both of them burst out laughing.
They both knew it was impossible for Natalie to become a superstar. She wouldn’t truly develop a career in the entertainment circle.
The most she could do was intersect with the fashion and entertainment circle.
"When I establish my studio, I might need your artists to help with promotions."
"Are my artists even qualified to wear your designs?"
Though Zoe wasn’t deeply knowledgeable about the fashion world, she knew a bit about it, including the school where Natalie studied and the status of Natalie’s mentor in the fashion industry.
"As long as there’s a need."
There was a long silence from Zoe.
"Recently, a manager-focused variety show invited me. The production team asked who my most desired guest was, and I said it was you."
Natalie was momentarily stunned.
"But I’m still in Kensingport."
"I know. What I mean is, Nina, I’m really grateful to you."
Yet Natalie just chuckled.
"Shouldn’t I be the one thanking you? During the time shooting ’Rise,’ you were the one taking care of me."
Zoe didn’t quite know how to describe that feeling.
After managing Natalie, it became apparent that no one in the circle dared to mess with her. Over the past few months, none of her artists had any issues, except once when an artist of hers naively wanted to go public with their relationship.
She wasn’t sure whether this was solely due to Felix Langdon or if there were other factors.
These past few months had been the most comfortable she had spent in the entertainment industry. Because she had managed Natalie, and Natalie’s few appearances on hot search lists made it clear to everyone that her background wasn’t simple.
No one dared to provoke Natalie, so no one dared to provoke Zoe either.
The prolonged silence was enough for Natalie to figure out the reason.
"Ms. Chandler, feel free to give me a call when recording the variety show."
Zoe grasped Natalie’s implication.
As soon as the call ended, Zane came upstairs too.
Natalie leaned over the edge of the bathtub and asked.
"Do you think I could become a superstar?"
The sudden question seemed a bit nonsensical to Zane, but fortunately, the music playing was her character’s theme song from ’Rise,’ so he caught on.
"If baby wants to, then of course you can."
"Zoe just called, said I need to join a live broadcast tomorrow."
Zane’s eyebrows furrowed slightly.
"Tomorrow?"
"What’s up?"
"I’m off tomorrow too. Planned to take you out."
Natalie blinked.
"It’s not a conflict. The live broadcast should last at most an hour, and I can connect from wherever we are."
Saying this, Natalie wrapped her arms around Zane’s neck.
"So you were planning for these couple of days because you came home so late last night?"
Zane smoothly lifted Natalie out.
"Yes, there are a few nice places here I’d like to take you to."
...
Because of what happened yesterday, Natalie’s classmates felt more fearful of her. As soon as she and Zane settled at the back of the classroom, quite a few people glanced back but quickly looked away, pretending not to see her.
Noticing this, Natalie raised an eyebrow, while Zane gently squeezed her wrist.
"What’s going on?"
The man quickly scanned the room and noticed that the classmates’ attitude towards Natalie was a bit off.
He was worried she might be ostracized, concerned she might suffer in class.
"I’ll explain after class."
Natalie’s smile stayed, while Zane pursed his lips and refrained from asking further.
Zane didn’t quite get it, so he began drawing with pen and paper. At first, Natalie thought he was just doodling, but after half an hour, a model of a race car appeared on the paper.
Natalie: ...
Such drawing skills made her feel somewhat inferior.
Unable to resist, Natalie asked.
"Did you learn to draw specifically to modify race cars?"
Zane shook his head.
"Never specifically learned; just naturally talented."
Natalie: ...
Due to their whispering, Natalie was called out by the teacher.
"Kristin, could you share with us what you and your friend are discussing?"
Natalie stood up promptly and, without panic, answered honestly.
"We’re discussing how to enhance one’s drawing skills."
The teacher put down what they were holding, looking curious.
"And what’s your conclusion?"
Natalie cleared her throat.
"My friend says no need for enhancement, for it’s naturally endowed."
Upon hearing this, the classroom erupted in laughter, even the teacher chuckled.
"Could we see how impressive this natural talent is?"
Saying this, the teacher already walked over from the podium.
Without hesitation, Natalie nudged Zane.
"..."
The man shook his head a bit helplessly and handed over what he had drawn to the teacher.
