Accidentally Yours, My Super Rich Second Husband-Chapter 105: Unfinished Stories
Delphinia sat on the plush couch, flipping lazily through a glossy magazine. She wasn’t particularly reading the articles—her thoughts were elsewhere—flipping through the pages was enough to hold her attention.
The living room was calm and tidy, with the faint scent of jasmine from a nearby candle filling the air. Yet, her fingers occasionally tapped against the magazine cover, betraying her slight impatience. Valerie was supposed to arrive soon, and Delphinia found herself glancing toward the clock more often than she cared to admit.
Finally, the doorbell rang. Delphinia’s head shot up, and she set the magazine on the coffee table before rising quickly. Her bare feet padded softly against the floor as she made her way to the front door.
She opened it to find Valerie standing there, a wide smile on her face and her hands holding a small bag. Valerie’s dark hair fell neatly over her shoulders, and her casual outfit—a simple white blouse tucked into denim jeans—was effortlessly chic.
"There you are!" Valerie said, stepping forward to hug Delphinia.
Delphinia returned the embrace, a warm smile lighting up her face. "Hey, come in! I was starting to think you got lost."
"Lost? Please, I’m basically a human compass. You just have no patience," Valerie teased as she stepped into the house.
Delphinia rolled her eyes playfully. "Guilty as charged. Do you want coffee, tea, or something else?"
"Tea would be nice," Valerie said as she followed Delphinia into the living room. Her eyes roamed over the space. "You know, I never thought I’d set foot in Evander Walton’s house.
It’s like stepping into a lifestyle magazine."
Delphinia laughed, waving a hand dismissively. "It’s just a house. Sit down; I’ll get the tea."
Minutes later, they were seated on the couch, steaming mugs in hand. Valerie leaned back, her gaze fixed on Delphinia. "Okay, spill. I want the full story about what happened when you went to your father’s house. Are you okay?"
Delphinia’s smile faltered slightly, and she placed her mug on the table. "It was... complicated," she admitted, her voice quieter. "Seeing him again after everything, it brought up a lot of memories. But at the same time, I felt stronger, you know? Like I finally had the courage to stand up for myself."
Valerie nodded, her expression empathetic. "That’s good. But it must have been hard. Did he say anything to you? Apologize, maybe?"
Delphinia let out a dry laugh. "Not exactly. He’s still the same man he’s always been—distant, controlling. I wasn’t looking for his approval—I just needed closure. And I think I got some of that."
Valerie reached over, placing a comforting hand on Delphinia’s. "I’m proud of you, you know. It takes guts to face someone who’s hurt you like that."
"Thanks," Delphinia said with a soft smile. "But enough about me. How are you?"
"Oh no, you’re not getting off that easily," Valerie said, shaking her head. "I want every detail. What about Helena? Let me guess—still a pain to deal with?"
"Oh, you bet. Helena’s still her usual self—loud, nosy, and thinks she’s the queen of everything. Honestly, she’s not even worth mentioning."
Valerie laughed, leaning back against the couch. "That bad, huh?"
"Worse," Delphinia said with a grin, then quickly waved her hand, brushing the topic aside. "Anyway, enough about her. Did you know my mom used to be friends with Evander’s mom?"
Valerie froze mid-laugh, her eyes widening. "Wait, what?" she asked, sitting upright. "Your mom and Evander’s mom? Are you serious?"
Delphinia nodded, a wry smile tugging at her lips. "I know, right? I just found out recently. It’s so weird to think about. Like, they were actual friends."
Valerie shuddered, rubbing her arms as if the revelation had sent a chill through her. "That’s so eerie. I’ve got goosebumps just thinking about it."
She talked about how her mother-in-law made her feel at home, sharing old stories about her mom—so unlike the rest of her awful ex in-laws.
Valerie smiled, but there was a hint of sadness in her eyes. "That’s incredible, Delphinia. You deserve to have people in your life who love and support you other than me."
The conversation took a somber turn, and for a moment, neither of them spoke. Valerie broke the silence with a dramatic sigh, sitting up straighter. "Okay, enough of this serious stuff. Let’s talk about how ridiculously perfect your life looks right now. Seriously, you’re like the queen of a fairy tale castle."
Delphinia laughed, shaking her head. "It’s not perfect, Val. You know that."
"Sure, sure," Valerie said, waving her hand dismissively. "But look at you! You’ve got this gorgeous house, an amazing husband, and apparently a long-lost family who adores you. If I didn’t love you so much, I might be jealous."
"Jealous? You’ve got your own incredible life," Delphinia pointed out.
"Yeah, but my life doesn’t come with a mansion," Valerie teased.
Delphinia shook her head, laughing. "Come on, let’s make lunch. You can keep complimenting me while we cook."
They moved to the kitchen, where Delphinia pulled ingredients from the fridge while Valerie washed her hands. The two worked side by side, chopping vegetables and stirring sauces.
"You’re actually pretty good at this," Valerie said, watching as Delphinia expertly diced an onion.
"Don’t sound so surprised," Delphinia said, raising an eyebrow.
"I’m just saying, with a husband like yours, I’d expect you to have a chef on speed dial," Valerie joked.
Delphinia smirked. "I like cooking. It’s relaxing."
When the food was done, they grabbed their plates and made their way back to the couch. The food disappeared slowly as they swapped stories about life and the past.
As Delphinia reached for her magazine again, Valerie’s eyes landed on the cover. She paused, fork halfway to her mouth, before reaching for the magazine. "Okay," she said, pointing at the glossy image. "Lydia Morgan, huh?"
Delphinia glanced down at the magazine. "Yeah, why? Are you a big fan?"
Valerie set the magazine down, leaning in with a sharp look. "I know her." 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"You do?" Delphinia asked, surprised. "How?"
"Yeah, we went to high school together," Valerie said, a small smile playing on her lips. "She was stunning even back then—I knew she’d make it big as a model or actress. And—" She hesitated for a moment before continuing, "She used to date Evander."
