Chapter 655: Chapter 606: Dragon Style Education

It was precisely three days later, in the dead of night, when the Dragon Priest brought back five dragon eggs to the Giant Dragon’s nest. Their reason was surprisingly the same: the eggs were about to hatch, and they were now like increasingly violently ticking clocks. Everyone watched over them for the entire night, witnessing small bulges emerge on the shell’s surface followed by cracks, out of which slimy bodies appeared. As the dawn sunlight rose, the young dragons covered in a bit of mucus let out their roars.

The Red Dragon Imelt was the first to emerge, bursting her little head out of the shell and hopping around the nest, bumping into her sibling. Alcalon emerged from his hard shell under such provocation and let out his first roar at his sister.

"RUA!" The young dragon’s voice was tender, and its tantrum seemed adorable.

Bordelis was the third, born notably larger than his siblings, with webbed claws distinct from his brothers and sisters. He was a mild-mannered Sea Dragon, unlike his siblings who were causing a ruckus as soon as they were born. He curled up inside a water orb provided by the Mermaid Priest, as if undergoing another gestation.

Sea Dragon Breeds are more reserved because they rarely fight in the vast ocean, unlike the more energetic land dragon breeds. But the last two to hatch were a bit strange.

Kristo was not a crystal worm, but the beautiful crystals on his spine and wing bones made him the prettiest one. His first look was at his towering parents, his second at his siblings, and his third at Mr. Scholar. Then he collapsed, falling into a sleep or perhaps a coma. Lyle checked the blue dragon’s body and, with the help of ominous omens and knowledge of giant dragons, he diagnosed Kristo with a weak constitution.

"It’s not actually a weak constitution, but rather that his body cannot handle the vast Magic Power within him. He... may become a new node of the magic network. However, during his juvenile years, he also needs more sleep to adjust his body."

This relieved Mr. Scholar, who looked on at the napping Crystal Dragon with even greater satisfaction.

The Emerald Dragon Claudia sat quietly like a little adult, uninterested in the frolicking of her siblings and sitting at the outer edge of the protective circle drawn by the Giant Dragon. This made her nanny, Irason, a bit anxious. Then Irason got bitten for trying to push the Emerald Dragon.

First, the Giant Dragon showed the noisy hatchlings what a real Dragon Roar was, and when they calmed down, he threw Lyle into the middle of the dragonlings. Five pairs of eyes stared at this creature so different from them, and the scene fell into silence for a moment.

"RUA!" The restless hatchling Alcalon saw Lyle as his food or toy, flapping his wings and opening his mouth wide as he charged at Lyle, and the other young dragons, not knowing any better, followed suit. Looking at these innocent children, the five Dragon Priests laughed, as did the Giant Dragon and the Twilight Dragon.

The young dragons pounced, Nia appeared, the young dragons got beaten, became a little confused, the young dragons started to run away, the young dragons showed submission, and Nia became the king of the kids. Because Alcalon was not satisfied with someone else being the boss, he got beaten up again.

The Dragon Priest and the Giant Dragon laughed all the while. Amid the open laughter of their elders, all the young dragons formed a deep impression of the robe-clad man with long tentacles, Lyle, who left a strong psychological shadow in their naive brains, even though it was Nia who had laid hands on them. But why would the hatchlings bother about avatars? 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Hatching was an energy-draining event for the young dragons, especially after getting beaten up afterward. Having eaten the meat provided by their parents, they quickly fell asleep in the arms of the Twilight Dragon.

"Well done, Lyle, I knew you could do it. The first step of Dragon Taming is letting them taste some hardship," praised the Giant Dragon, his fatherly love like a landslide, not sparing any praise for Lyle. It seemed that some nasty essence from the Liches era still lived actively within the Giant Dragon. He treated each of his students as his own, none having escaped a beating from him.

"They’re still children, teacher, and this is just twenty minutes after they’ve hatched."

"Yes, to educate children, authority must be established. I can’t bear to harm them, so, my dear student, I need you, ’Black Hand,’ to convey my will. Isn’t that the work of a priest? Their childhood will be brief, let’s create unforgettable memories together!"

The chatty Giant Dragon got poked in the tail, and Silvette’s dangerous gaze was fixed on the clamorous Dragon King.

Dragon blood carries knowledge, yet depending on their roles, the information mastered by the giant dragons varies; the knowledge to breed hatchlings is held by the Dragon Mother. Hence, when the young dragons awoke, Silvette, as their mother, smiled as she instructed her children in their first lesson.

How to breathe.

Lyle had always thought that breathing was like spitting saliva, a kind of instinct that came naturally to giant dragons. However, it required some guidance—the young dragons were wrestling with Lyle, realizing that the part of this long-tentacled creature without tentacles was actually weak. As long as they avoided the tentacles, that satisfaction akin to hunting dangerous prey motivated the young dragons.

Then an ominous presence came forth, knocking down the young dragons, deepening their fear of Lyle.

"Ah, aren’t there many Dragon Saliva Trees around? The material for practicing Breath has been found." Silvette brought the Dragon Priest and Lyle to the edge of the Dragon’s Nest, the young dragons held in Lyle’s arms like towels hanging from a limb.

The Twilight Dragon pointed to the position of the ancient plants’ thicket; their twisted branches secreted a thick pale yellow resin. Lyle never imagined these plants that grew alongside dragons would have an educational purpose.

Sniffing the strong scent emitted by the resin, the young dragons in Lyle’s arms clamored, that pale yellow sticky liquid seeming to be good food for them. Silvette laughed, scraping a bit of resin with her dragon claw to feed the five young dragons.

"Don’t hurry, children, there’s enough for everyone."

The young dragons whose mouths were filled with resin didn’t respond with cries to their mother’s words, instead eagerly chewing the resin in their mouths.

Lyle set them down on the ground, observing their demeanor.

"Looks quite appetizing."

"No, the sap of the Dragon Saliva Tree only emits a pleasant smell; it actually has no taste. This isn’t food. For adult giant dragons, it’s merely a tool to exercise biting strength..."

Silvette smiled. "But this sap has an additional benefit for young dragons."

"What benefit?"

"The viscous sap being chewed and spread will slowly fill the young dragons’ throats, and if they don’t learn to use their Dragon Breath to destroy the mucus before they stop breathing... they will choke to death."

Lyle and the other Dragon Priests watched in silence, the smiling Dragon Mother at their feet, as the five young dragons chewing on the resin began to sense something wrong and started writhing and struggling.

No wonder the giant dragons are so powerful; their parents are all tough ones.
