Academic gathering with a lich-Chapter 504 - 466: The Law of Luck
Disaster Inducement, a new ability borne from Nameless’s study of the mystical arts.
The precondition for activating this ability is the malice others hold toward the spellcaster, allowing the caster to transform that malice into a corresponding level of misfortune and reflect it back upon them. A defensive countermeasure of the mystical arts, as the saying goes, "Kindness begets kindness; evil begets evil," Nameless could directly turn the ill intentions of others into bad luck for them. Just like how those two Liches spoke ill of him, and now their skulls are stuck in the Spine Wheel.
This was a retaliation equal in measure to the malice created, as speaking ill and being reduced to broken bones are both trivial matters for the Liches.
But retaliating against the two Liches was not Nameless’s main objective; he had left a linguistic trap in his words, which was a trigger for a spell word. For ordinary people, it was just a simple sentence, but for a race whose words possess magical power, it was an amplifier for abilities.
Kevin’s luck had a dual effect: one was an unconscious correction of fortune, which led to a life filled with good luck, and the other was Kevin’s subjective alteration of the unfolding of events, as was the case now. The small misfortune caused by Nameless, under the deliberate inducement of a spell word, became a subjective distortion of the event by Kevin.
And as a result, the Spine Wheel surged toward the two of them.
Kevin felt that there must be something wrong with this academy; he had never been so unlucky before. Would he have to jump out of a window again? Luckily, this was the first floor—he should be fine.
Kevin turned around and bumped into Nameless, and with an added human obstacle behind him, his movements were suddenly slowed. And Nameless showed no awareness of the peril he was in, his eyes still fixed on Kevin’s face.
Is this person an idiot?
Time allowed no room for Kevin to think; he could only act instinctively, pushing Nameless with all his might, while he himself remained in place.
Behind Nameless, the glass shattered, and amidst the dancing fragments, he looked at that face and heard Kevin’s voice.
"Help Lyle, please."
So you’re leaving the last chance to me, human. You’re not so cold after all. The simulated celestial body fell into his hands, and Nameless opened them. But I’m cold enough.
The experiment was interrupted—the precious sample could not be lost.
The mystical researcher, Nameless, was about to forcibly halt the misfortune he had spun with his own hands, but a new surprise flickered in his eyes.
Threads of luck, red as representation, burst around Kevin, igniting like fire and blazing a dazzling red. In contrast, the dark blue threads of misfortune shot out like venomous thorns in all directions, many weaving into sharp points that pierced into his own tangled skein, scrambling his fate while climbing up Nameless’s wrist.
The tidal wave of misfortune engulfed all those nearby, and at its source, the luck surrounding Kevin shone like a proud sun.
"Luck, highest priority."
In the parallel Spine Wheels, one suddenly slipped, its lethal bone spurs penetrating the fleshy inner ring of the other, sending flesh flying, accompanied by a grating screech. The two Spine Wheels collided, destroying each other for three seconds before they reached a position five meters from Kevin. Then they exploded into pieces with a thunderous blast.
The flying bone spurs shattered the surrounding space like a storm; only at the forefront, where they collided, did they restrain each other from exploding, and there stood Kevin.
Surprise crossed Nameless’s face with a smile—he was blown away by the blast wave, but Kevin’s threads of fate remained firm.
The bone spurs struck his own body, and two blurred drivers hammered his sternum, tumbling together with Nameless on Andrey’s lawn. Though nailed to the ground by two corpses and many bones, Nameless was very happy.
"Is this Disaster Inducement? No, it should be called Disaster Dispersion."
Twisting the calamities that befell himself into misfortune descending upon those around him, while remaining unscathed himself. It was a forceful blow to Nameless, the instigator.
His sternum was completely shattered, he was pinned down, and with blood leaking from the corners of his smiling mouth, Nameless said,
"The highest priority assured by the absolute enforcement, the Law of the Proxy."
Kevin felt as if he were standing in a fossil museum, with bones everywhere around each area. He knew his luck had kicked in again, averting the misfortune that could have led to his death. Kevin couldn’t help but worry about Mr. Nameless; judging by the outcome, the spot where they had both stood was absolutely safe.
And then, he had pushed him out of the safety zone. At the moment of the loud blast, Kevin saw two things, unfortunately, fly out from the Spine Wheel and hit Nameless, finally forming the huge pile of bones on Andrey’s lawn.
Carrying a heavy sense of guilt, Kevin carefully climbed through the window, with a nervous heart, ready to check on Nameless’s condition.
"Mr. Nameless, are you not..."
A vicious Spine Wheel suddenly rolled into the pile of bones, blocking Kevin’s path. Watching the tiny fragments being struck, Kevin’s hands trembled—could one survive a secondary injury?
A grim man with an iron mask stepped down from the Spine Wheel; those iron gauntlets quickly pulled several human figures from the rubble.
Mr. Law grabbed the collar of one of the figures and viciously slammed it onto the adjacent grass.
"Disciplinary Command Spell. Speed violators, five times gravity, limps disabled."
"I’ve finally caught you!!! You bastards from the Literary Club!!!!!"
"Delusion!!!! Reporters!!! It’s you three lowlifes again!!!!!"
Mr. Law lifted the last figure, held it high above his head, and roared like a beast under the blood moon.
"Gentleman!!!! I told you last time!!!! I won’t give you the fifty-sixth chance!!!! This time, I will let the trial wash your soul into an idiot!!!! No one’s going to stop me!!!!"
Mr. Law’s voice suddenly dropped several octaves as he realized that what he held in his hand did not seem to be Mr. Gentleman.
Nameless was hanging by his head in the air, unresisting, like a giant doll on a clear day, his indifferent expression calming Mr. Law down. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"You’ve caught the wrong person, Mr. Law."
"Ah, it’s Mr. Nameless, um... you are innocent, my apologies." Mr. Law placed Nameless aside and picked up the reporter and Delusion again, unleashing another complete round of Bone Crushing Combo Technique on the lawn.
"Spit it out!!! Where did that scum Gentleman run off to!!!"
The reporter’s body had turned into an L-shape, and he screamed in pain.
"Gentleman had urgent matters, he did not join our regular training. Really! Really!!!"
"You’re lying to ghosts!!! You mean to tell me that you and Delusion each drove a Spine Wheel through Andrey’s corridors at breakneck speed!!! Reporter!!! Have you forgotten that you are a notorious vehicle idiot!!! How could you possibly drive a Spine Wheel alone!!!!!"
"It really was me driving!!! Didn’t I just crash by mistake!!! It was me! It was me!!! Damn it, Delusion! Why are you hitting me!!! Aren’t we on the same side!!!"
"Shut up! Reporter, I must have been cursed to take your money to let you race!!! I lost all of my earnings tonight!!! I really want to crush you into dust, you bastard!!!"
"You can insult my character, but you can’t insult my driving skills!!!"
Mr. Law grabbed one in each hand, separating the two troublemakers.
"Continue your bickering on the beams of the Executive Committee, you two idiots."
