Abyssal Sovereign: The Demon's Dominion-Chapter 294 - 293: "bow"
With Caius's arrival, the Dreadborne Organization's headquarters was filled with tension.
In the meeting chamber, the leaders of Dreadborne sat silently, their gazes fixed on the newly crowned king.
"King... should we bow or something?" Nephem asked lazily, grabbing a fruit from somewhere and taking a bite with a playful grin.
Alayot sighed and shook his head in disappointment.
Junnie laughed quietly while Nyx frowned in disapproval.
"Ah, that's not necessary," Caius said, raising his hand as he chuckled lightly.
"Well, glad you could make it," Linkir said calmly. "There are some things we'd like to discuss with you. Please, have a seat."
"Yes," Caius replied as he took the highest seat at the round table.
But as soon as he sat, silence fell. The leaders froze, their expressions unreadable.
"What's wrong?" Caius asked, glancing around.
"That seat," Sword Demon said, chuckling darkly, "you're not supposed to sit there."
Caius frowned slightly. He had been a king for only a day, but he knew royal protocol well. Wherever he went
whether to the Wild Shade, the Federation, or other organizations
, he was to sit at the seat of highest authority. He had even shown them respect by attending in person.
So why were they acting like this? Were they… ignoring his position?
Did they still see him as a subordinate of Dreadborne?
His expression darkened.
"It seems you're misunderstanding something," Sword Demon said, lowering his arms and letting his faint smile fade. "King, god, whatever title you've crowned yourself with ,
it doesn't matter here. This is Dreadborne. Do you even comprehend what you're standing before? You think being a king makes you equal to us?"
"Hahaha… is this a joke?" Caius laughed, expecting the others to smirk or back Sword Demon up as a tease. But none of them did. Their faces remained cold and unamused.
He frowned.
"Ahem… yes, I was once part of Dreadborne. You transformed me, gave me strength 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
and I'm grateful. That's partly why I came here today," Caius said evenly. "But I'm not a prince anymore. I am the King of the Federation , the strongest being in this multiverse. Do you still expect me to bow before you?"
Silence.
"I don't know if you can read the room, but things aren't going the way you imagined, are they?" Junnie's voice chimed in smoothly from the side. For a moment, Caius felt a strange charm tug at his will but with a divine light, he dispelled it.
"Listen, king or not," Sword Demon said coldly, his gaze sharp as a blade. "You're just our pawn. Understand that."
Caius froze. His thoughts raced as he looked at the six leaders seated around him.
"I hope this is some kind of joke," he said, his tone hardening, "or the Dreadborne Organization will no longer have a place in the Federation."
"Oh? A threat? Fantastic," Nephem chuckled, clearly amused.
"A threat? No," Caius replied sharply, rising to his feet. "It's a fact. A single command from me, and the military will level this place to the ground. You're nothing special. Do you really think you control this multiverse?"
Divine light flared around him, his royal aura radiating with authority.
"Enough," Linkir's voice cut through the tension, calm yet heavy with power. Everyone stopped immediately.
"Caius," she said softly.
Caius turned toward her. By now, he understood something,
Linkir wasn't just one of the leaders. She was the Dreadborne's true head, or at least the voice of its hidden master.
"You need to control your people," Caius said coldly. "Do they know who they're speaking to?"
Linkir's heels clicked softly against the floor as she walked toward him. Her steps echoed pah, pah, pah .... until she stood just inches away.
Caius looked down at her, momentarily distracted by her beauty. None in the Federation could compare to her
not Lydia, not even the most divine of beings. Her presence was mesmerizing, almost unreal.
Then, her neutral tone sliced through the silence:
"Do you even understand who you're dealing with… King?"
The temperature dropped instantly. A suffocating chill spread through the room, making even the strongest shiver.
"Bow."
One word.
Boom.
Caius's eyes widened. His knees hit the ground before he even realized it.
He was kneeling .. before Linkir.
His mind went blank. How? How could she control him? The divine blessing of the multiverse protected him .. no one should be able to subdue him like this. And yet, here he was… powerless.
No matter how hard he tried, his body wouldn't move. Even his divine aura vanished.
"King or god , it doesn't matter to us," Linkir said coldly. "You belong to Dreadborne. When we give you an order, you obey. If you were useless, you'd already be dead
or broken. Be grateful that you're still needed."
Caius's eyes trembled. Fear crept into his veins.
"Now listen carefully," Linkir continued, her tone firm and absolute. "You will change certain things. First, summon the Wild Shade Organization and the others. It's time they all met."
Caius's mind was in chaos. He wanted to resist, to shout, but his strength was gone , his divine protection stripped away.
For the first time since his coronation…
King Caius felt powerless.
And as he knelt before the Dreadborne, a dreadful realization struck him ...
They weren't just powerful. They were terrifyingly beyond comprehension.
"How...?" Caius asked, his voice trembling slightly. "The Wild Shade Organization is secretive, and the other organizations all hold grudges against each other. Why a meeting?"
Though fear lingered in his heart, he couldn't stop himself from speaking.
"Don't you think it's time we discussed the Forefathers?" Linkir replied calmly. "Frankly, you all aren't enough. When was the last time we witnessed the birth of a Multi-Universal Realm being? You must know about their plans. Soon, they will be reborn and awaken .. in less than a thousand years. And when that happens, this Multi-Universe will be destroyed. That's why we need new blood."
Each sentence struck Caius harder than the last. He and his siblings had only recently learned about this, and they were certain that most of the Federation had no clue. But the Dreadborne Organization knew? And not just that
they were clearly far more informed.
Even as the newly crowned king, he felt his body tremble.
What if many others already know? What if we're the ones in the dark all along?
And if the Forefathers weren't returning just to reclaim their power
but to destroy this entire Multi-Universe... then everything made sense. The brutal royal succession battles, the endless bloodshed among the aristocrats , all of it. It was never about power; it was about weakening the next generation, ensuring no one strong enough could rise before the Forefathers' return.
But that realization led to a far greater question ..
What exactly is the Dreadborne Organization planning with this meeting?
Was it truly to unite the factions... or to prepare a new force capable of standing against the coming cataclysm?
