Abandoned Wife? Her Starlight Shall Blind You!-Chapter 170 - 112: No Extra Complications
After Jun Moling finished his heartfelt words, he quietly waited for Shen Ruoxi’s response.
However, as time passed, there was only silence around them.
He paused for a moment, looked down, and couldn’t help but smile bitterly when he realized she had fallen asleep.
His earnest and heartfelt confession wasn’t heard by her at all.
But it was fine, they had a long future ahead together, and he was confident that he would eventually make her understand that the woman deeply cherished in his heart, Jun Moling’s heart, is none other than Shen Ruoxi.
He gently laid her flat, his gaze unable to move away from her beautiful sleeping face.
Her eyebrows were as deeply hued as distant green mountains, but they were slightly furrowed, as if lightly troubled;
Her thick, long lashes were like a delicate fan, casting a faint shadow on her fair, jade-like skin.
Her hair, as black and flowing as a waterfall, lay scattered, with a few playful strands resting against her cheeks, adding an enchanting allure.
The soft moonlight spilled through the window, cloaking her in a pure, flawless silver veil, making her appear even more dreamlike and captivating, stirring one’s heart.
Jun Moling’s gaze was filled with love and tenderness. He gently extended his hand to brush aside the stray hair from Shen Ruoxi’s forehead and then placed a deep, affectionate kiss there.
He wasn’t sure how long he had been sitting by her bedside until the sound of the drum from outside brought him back, and he whispered softly, "Ruoxi, sweet dreams."
With that, he flicked out of the window, carefully closing it behind him, and vanished into the moonlit night.
The three maids had been worried all along, checking on her from time to time.
When they heard silence from their lady’s room, they cautiously entered.
They saw their lady sleeping soundly, with Prince Zhan nowhere in sight, finally allowing the three maids to rest easy, closing the door and returning to their quarters.
The next morning, Shen Ruoxi woke gradually, feeling a slight dull ache in her head, and pressed her fingers to her brow.
At that moment, the three maids entered one after another to attend to her.
"I drank too much last night?" Shen Ruoxi asked with a touch of confusion and regret.
Chuntao couldn’t help but cover her mouth and laugh softly, "Miss, it’s the first time I’ve seen you drink so much, and you were even speaking nonsense."
Upon hearing this, Shen Ruoxi blushed immediately, not realizing she had such a habit of acting foolishly when drunk; it was truly embarrassing.
"Were my sisters-in-law angry last night?" Shen Ruoxi asked Chuntao with a worried look.
Chuntao quickly shook her head, "First Young Madam and Fifth Young Madam were very worried about you, they didn’t say anything, it’s just that..."
Chuntao paused slightly, and Shen Ruoxi vaguely remembered seeing Jun Moling last night.
"Did the Prince come?" Shen Ruoxi asked, eyes wide open.
Chuntao nodded vigorously, still looking somewhat scared, "The Prince was terrifying, just one glance from him and I felt paralyzed with fear.
He chased us all out, but the Prince was very good to you, gently wiping your face, making sure you drank water, and sobering up soup, as if he were two different people."
"Nonsense." Shen Ruoxi glared at Chuntao.
"Miss, it’s true!" Chuntao said urgently.
"I didn’t say anything inappropriate, did I?" Shen Ruoxi was filled with concern, lamenting her poor drinking habits.
"That, I don’t know, the Prince stayed alone in the room to take care of you." Chuntao replied truthfully.
Shen Ruoxi couldn’t help but groan in distress, secretly hoping she didn’t embarrass herself by babbling nonsense to Jun Moling, as she really couldn’t remember anything.
Seeing Shen Ruoxi’s distressed expression, Chuntao laughed and comforted her, "Miss, you don’t need to worry so much. The Prince didn’t blame you at all, his eyes were full of tenderness when he looked at you."
"Alright, enough, I’ll go see my sisters-in-law later." Shen Ruoxi said helplessly.
Suddenly, she felt too embarrassed to see Jun Moling.
"Yes," Chuntao replied.
After breakfast, Shen Ruoxi went to visit her sisters-in-law.
She saw that they were dressed quite formally, as if they were about to go out.
Initially, Shen Ruoxi didn’t pay much attention, sincerely saying: "Sister-in-law, I drank too much last night. If I said anything inappropriate, please don’t take it to heart."
Yang Family wore a faint smile, "You didn’t say anything inappropriate, only heartfelt words. It’s good that you’re alright now."
Hearing this, Shen Ruoxi felt relieved as long as she hadn’t upset them.
She looked at their attire, "Sister-in-law, are you heading out?"
Yang Family and Zou Family’s expressions froze for a moment, but Yang Family forced a smile, "Nothing, just a casual stroll."
Shen Ruoxi felt something was amiss and pressed her lips together, "Sister-in-law, don’t keep things from me, I need to know."
Yang Family and Zou Family exchanged a glance, their eyes reflecting hesitation and difficulty.
Shen Ruoxi’s curiosity grew stronger, "Sister-in-law, please tell me!"
With a face full of helplessness, Yang Family said, "Last night you said the Prince’s heart was elsewhere, and that he didn’t love you. After discussing with your Fifth Sister-in-law, we decided we had to go to the Prince Mansion and ask him clearly.
If he truly has feelings for another woman, we absolutely won’t agree to this marriage."
Shen Ruoxi slightly furrowed her brows, feeling grateful she asked, or who knows what misunderstandings it could have caused.
Shen Ruoxi began to explain, "Sister-in-law, I’ll be frank with you.
When the Prince proposed marriage, it was actually to help me out of a difficult situation.
He knew I didn’t want to enter the palace, and the Emperor was pressing me, leaving me with no options, so Prince Zhan came up with this plan.
He said that he originally intended never to marry, and given my predicament, it would fulfill both our needs.
If things didn’t work out later, we could part ways. But I fell for him, and that’s why I said those things."
Yang Family and Zou Family looked at each other, momentarily speechless. So that’s how it was! But...
"I truly cannot enter the palace. If this engagement with the Prince falls through, who else would dare to marry me? So let’s not cause any more trouble; his kindness is enough for me." Shen Ruoxi continued.
Yang Family and Zou Family couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache; their outstanding sister-in-law deserved someone wholly devoted to her.
"Ruoxi, you must understand, now that you have feelings for him, life will be challenging." Yang Family said, her eyes reddening with emotion.
Zou Family spoke firmly, "Sister-in-law, don’t sigh like that. Who is Ruoxi? Regardless of who the Prince might have had in mind, Ruoxi will replace them all. I believe that Ruoxi will make Prince Zhan completely devoted, losing himself in love."
Yang Family broke into a smile, "That’s right, our Ruoxi is loved by all, not to mention those men; after marrying, they’ll surely be enchanted by Prince Zhan."
Shen Ruoxi also smiled, feeling truly blessed; as long as she remained content and appreciative, life would surely turn out well.
"Miss, First Young Madam, Fifth Young Madam, Prince Lan has arrived."
While speaking, a young maid entered, curtseying and announcing.
