Abandoned Wife? Her Starlight Shall Blind You!-Chapter 169 - 111: Laying It Bare
This time, Shen Ruoxi didn’t wake up, and only her slightly heavy breathing quietly came from the room.
"Is she ill? So unalert."
The shadow, who was Jun Moling, wondered to himself.
He thought for a moment, then gently pushed open the window.
In a flash, he entered the room, then carefully closed the window again.
The room was dimly lit, with only a faint lamp near the door to help her see at night.
Jun Moling slowly approached her bedside, only to find her sleeping soundly, with her cheeks unusually flushed, and the warm air she exhaled carrying a wine-sweet fragrance.
Jun Moling was both amused and exasperated, teasing, "How much did you drink to get this drunk?"
Originally, he had come tonight to claim credit, intending to ask her if he should be thanked for successfully resolving the dispute between her sister-in-law and herself, while also seeking a bit of interest.
Unexpectedly, she had drunk herself into a drunken stupor.
He found a towel, moistened it with clean water, and gently wiped her face, trying to cool her down.
At this moment, footsteps sounded from outside the room.
Jun Moling’s hands didn’t pause, continuing to attentively wipe Shen Ruoxi’s face.
The door was pushed open, and in came Chuntao and Xia Lian, who had come to serve, worried about their young mistress.
Who would have thought that upon entering, they would be startled to see a tall man by their young mistress’s bedside, wiping her face, and were scared out of their wits, about to cry out.
Jun Moling turned back indifferently, coldly saying, "There’s nothing for you here, leave!"
Only then did the two maids see clearly that it was Prince Zhan.
They hurriedly paid their respects, with Chuntao’s heart thumping wildly. Although the Prince wasn’t angry, his powerful aura and invisible pressure made her legs weak.
However, out of loyalty to their young mistress, she bravely spoke, "Your Highness, you and my lady aren’t married yet; this is rather inappropriate. Let me serve my lady instead!"
Jun Moling lazily lifted his eyelids, his voice deep and full of authority, "Do you think I would do anything to Ruoxi? You are not needed here, leave! Don’t make me say it again."
Chuntao and Xia Lian stood to the side, cold sweat pouring from them in fear.
Yet, their eyes were involuntarily drawn to the scene before them.
Only to see Jun Moling attentively remove the towel, turning to rinse it carefully, then once again gently wiping Shen Ruoxi’s face.
His actions were practiced and natural, as if serving others was the most ordinary thing to him, never feeling there was anything inappropriate about it for a prince to be so personally involved.
"Water, water..." Shen Ruoxi turned over, muttering fuzzily.
Hearing this, Jun Moling immediately got up to pour her some water.
He carefully helped her up, letting her half-lean on his firm chest, his voice gentle and soothing, as if afraid to disturb her dreams, "Drink."
Shen Ruoxi, with her eyes closed, began drinking the water instinctively.
Jun Moling watched her intently, his eyes full of concern.
"Drink slowly," Jun Moling said softly, finishing with a gentle swipe of a silk cloth to wipe away the warm water at the corner of her mouth, his actions tender as if handling the most precious treasure in the world.
The two maids stood there, dumbfounded.
Just then, they suddenly felt Jun Moling’s sharp gaze sweep towards them, and they couldn’t help but shiver again.
"We saw nothing, we’ll leave now," Chuntao was the first to react, pulling Xia Lian along as she spoke.
Xia Lian quickly agreed, "Yes, yes, we’ll leave now."
Having said that, they hurriedly left the room.
On their way back, they happened to meet Xueyan carrying hangover soup.
Chuntao quickly said to Xueyan, "The Prince is inside, taking care of the young mistress.
I saw the Prince constantly wiping her face with a towel, so let’s just leave them be and not disturb."
Xueyan bit her lip, her face full of worry, "You just left the young mistress there? No, I must stay with her."
"Xueyan, that’s the future master-in-law, and it’s Prince Zhan! Do you know Prince Zhan’s reputation? We should be more concerned about our own lives," Xia Lian advised with a wry smile.
"I agree, it’s best to prioritize our lives," Chuntao mumbled quietly from the side.
After speaking, Chuntao tightly held Xia Lian’s hand, and they returned to their own quarters together.
At this point, Xueyan stood at the door with the hangover soup, feeling torn.
After a while, she finally set it down outside the door, speaking softly, "Your Highness, I placed the hangover soup on the table in the outer room, please have the young mistress drink it, and I’ll take my leave."
After saying that, Xueyan hurriedly retreated, secretly pondering that in this situation, she’d better not linger for her own safety.
"Alright, go ahead," Jun Moling responded.
Then, he gently laid Shen Ruoxi down and turned to fetch the hangover soup.
"Ruoxi, come, drink the hangover soup," Jun Moling’s voice was as gentle as coaxing a child.
Shen Ruoxi, disturbed, showed some impatience, pushing him away.
"Hurry up, why did you drink so much?" Jun Moling spoke with a hint of reproach.
Shen Ruoxi groggily opened her eyes, the scene before her unclear, but she still recognized the person in front of her as Jun Moling.
"Jun Moling?" her voice was thick with intoxication and surprise.
"It’s me, why drink so much? Drink the hangover soup first," Jun Moling patiently urged her.
"No, my head hurts, I’m going back to sleep, you should go," Shen Ruoxi muttered, pressing her forehead.
"Come on, drink the hangover soup and your head won’t hurt as much, I’ll leave after you fall asleep," Jun Moling coaxed gently.
In the end, Shen Ruoxi had no choice but to obediently open her mouth and drink the hangover soup.
"Don’t I deserve a thank you?" Jun Moling smiled faintly.
Shen Ruoxi glanced at him sideways; in the dim light, his features were still as clear as ever, his face perfect as if sculpted by divine hands, flawless and akin to a work of art.
Her mind hazy, she murmured, "Jun Moling, don’t be so nice to me, I might start overthinking things."
Jun Moling couldn’t help but laugh, "How would you overthink? Tell me."
"I might think you like me," her voice was airy as if from a distant dream.
Jun Moling’s heart skipped a beat, his eyes filled with affection and a smile that was almost intoxicating, "And do you like me?"
"I do," Shen Ruoxi murmured, half-asleep.
Jun Moling felt as if his heart would burst out of his chest, joy overwhelming him like a tidal wave.
His voice was as soft as water, "Silly girl, I like you too, do you know? I’ve liked you for many years, searched for you for many years.
Ruoxi, now I truly feel blessed by the heavens, finally being able to marry the woman I love most dearly."
