Abandoned Luna: Now Untouchable-Chapter 426 Midnight Warnings
Author’s pov
The moment Liam finished cleaning the kitchen, he saw the three women standing there looking worried.
He walked over, sensing something was wrong.
"What’s happened?" he asked, his voice calm but concerned.
"My mom’s been hurt. I need to go to her," Cecilia replied, already heading inside to get her things.
Liam’s face immediately became serious.
His eyes narrowed as he asked for details, and Harper quickly told him about the phone call they’d just received.
"I see," Liam nodded thoughtfully before going to his bedroom, clearly thinking through something.
As Cecilia hurried downstairs with Harper and Yvonne, waiting for Yvonne’s bodyguards to arrive, she saw someone who absolutely should not have been there—Tang, standing beside a car in the garage.
"Cecilia," Tang greeted her with obvious guilt in his voice.
"You—!" Cecilia felt her anger spike as she realized the truth.
Alpha Sebastian had lied. He hadn’t taken Tang with him at all.
But she couldn’t focus on her anger right now.
Harper grabbed Cecilia’s arm. "Get in the car. We’ll talk about this later."
They got into the back seat while Yvonne took the front.
She quickly called her security team, telling them to meet at the intersection a few blocks away instead.
In the car, Cecilia sat with her head in her hands, refusing to speak.
Her mind was a storm of worry—for her mother, for Alpha Sebastian, for everything spinning out of control.
Tang drove in uncomfortable silence, not daring to say anything.
Halfway there, Yvonne noticed a car following them consistently. She gently poked Tang’s arm. "Tang, that car has been following us this whole time. Did you notice?"
"Oh, that’s Sawyer," Tang explained. "Liam said someone should handle things at Cecilia’s family home. Sawyer has experience with these situations, so he’s following us."
"Liam thinks of everything," Yvonne said, impressed. "No wonder Alpha Sebastian keeps him around."
"That’s right," Tang agreed. "Liam can handle anything. He’s amazing." He looked in the rearview mirror, then added carefully, "Cecilia, please don’t be angry with Alpha Sebastian. He just wants to protect you."
Cecilia wiped her face, laughing bitterly. "He cares for me, and I get angry about it. Even I can hear how ungrateful that sounds."
Tang fell silent again.
"It’s not your fault," Cecilia said, patting his shoulder. "Just drive safely. I’m sorry you have to deal with this, Tang."
"Don’t apologize, Cecilia. This is literally my job. It’s about all I’m good for," Tang replied modestly.
"Thank you anyway."
During the drive, Cecilia called the hospital over and over for updates.
By the time they finally arrived, it was already one in the morning on Saturday.
Esther had fallen asleep.
Cecilia tiptoed into the room, her heart aching at the sight of her mother’s bandaged foot.
"Cece!" VanDyck, who had been sleeping in a chair, woke up suddenly. He stood up with obvious relief at seeing his daughter.
About to speak, he realized his wife was finally sleeping after a night of pain.
He put his finger to his lips and pointed toward the door.
Once outside, VanDyck explained what had happened to everyone.
They all fell into troubled silence, frustrated by the lack of evidence that might point to whoever was responsible.
Just then, Cecilia’s phone rang.
She looked down at the screen—an unfamiliar number from Colorado Springs.
Somehow, she already knew who it would be.
With remarkable calm, Cecilia answered but said nothing.
After fifteen seconds of silence, a fake sweet voice finally came through the phone. "Why so quiet, Cecilia?"
A mocking smile curved Cecilia’s lips as she replied with fake cheerfulness, "Who is this? How did you get my number? Is this some kind of scam call?"
"...It’s Maggie, of course. Though I’d prefer if you called me mother."
The line went quiet for several seconds.
"Mother?" Cecilia’s voice became sharp. "One of my mothers is dead. The other is in a hospital bed right now."
" If you want to be the third one, you need to suffer first. Do you want to die or get hurt? Maybe both. We could break your legs and then kill you."
The phone went quiet for a few seconds.
"I understand you’re angry," Maggie finally said, "but I heard about your mother’s accident. I’m calling because I care."
" It’s too bad this happened. If it didn’t, you could have come with Alpha Sebastian on the cruise ship. It’s like a floating palace made just for this event. You’re missing something amazing."
She let out a big sigh, then said thoughtfully, "But I think it’s not too late to fix this."
"Don’t worry about it. I don’t want to go," Cecilia said flatly.
"Ha! You trust Sebastian so much. Oh, Jessica is there too. You better be careful or your mate might leave you for someone else."
"If he does, fine. He’s just a man. Only someone like you would work so hard to steal other people’s boyfriends. But I understand. It’s the only thing you know how to do."
"...Well, if you change your mind, text me before three this afternoon, and I’ll make arrangements." Maggie’s voice stayed cheerful as she said goodbye, but not before dropping that final hook.
Cecilia hung up without another word. She refused to waste any more energy on this woman.
"Cecilia, you can’t possibly go! It’s obviously a trap!" VanDyck jumped up, alarmed.
Cecilia shook her head. "Dad, don’t worry about me. And don’t give her too much credit. If she thinks she can get to me, she’s wrong. I can handle this."
Harper nodded reassuringly. "It’ll be fine. If Cece can’t handle this level of threat, how will she ever deal with Maggie long-term? Remember, Cecilia isn’t powerless anymore."
"Running away from bullies only makes things worse," Yvonne said, taking a cookie from the vending machine.
"They’re like playground bullies. The more you run, the more they want to chase you. But if you stand your ground and show you’re not afraid, you don’t even need to fight them. Just show them you won’t back down and they’ll think twice. They might still talk trash, but they won’t mess with you."
VanDyck caught the hidden meaning in their words. His face went pale as he protested, "You absolutely cannot go!"
"I won’t go. I promise I won’t," Cecilia replied with complete sincerity in her voice.
