A Wrong Surrogate for the CEO-Chapter 34: Hospitalised

Isn’t this fellow stone cold and arrogant? He could tell her thanks? She smiled and nodded before stepping out. She went towards the mini villa and Ms Benny was waiting at the door.

"Ms Lara," she chimed and hugged her. She walked her into the house and Lara sighed softly and said "Tired and feeling sleepy" and went towards her bedroom.

"Oh, the outing must have been strenuous for you. I’ll bring you chicken soup as soon as you’ve taken your bath" Ms Benny offered and without waiting for Lara to agree, she went in the direction of the kitchen.

Lara just smiled and went to take her bath. She stepped out of her bedroom in a pink robe. She didn’t expect that Curtis would be waiting for her in the sitting room, dressed in a short and armless shirt.

She was dazed, and quickly glanced at herself, to ensure she wasn’t looking too open for him. He saw her looking surprised and he quickly apologized.

"I’m sorry if I intruded" he said and Ms Benny stood up politely, walking away. The couple alone were left in the sitting room.

"I got you dinner and Ms Benny also said she’d prepared chicken soup for you. I would prefer you have the soup, it will help you sleep well and ease fatigue. What do you think?" He asked.

Lara got closer and sat down. Curtis had taken a shower too. She could perceive the smell of freshness and his cologne was captivating.

"I don’t really feel like taking anything. But I’ll have a few spoons of the soup and I’ll be fine" She appreciated.

"Would you mind if I remain and watch you eat the soup before leaving?" Curtis asked and Lara couldn’t hold back, she laughed.

Did he really need to do this?

"You still haven’t answered me. You’ve only laughed" Curtis insisted and Lara replied "No, you should go. I’ll be fine" she assured.

"Okay, I’ll leave today. But I cannot promise you that I’ll leave another day" he declared and stood up, leaving her alone.

As he stood up, Lara perceived the full scent of his body and she liked it a lot. He walked towards the door, a brief glance at his strong muscled legs.

She couldn’t take her eyes away from him when she suddenly saw him paused and turned back to glance at her. He caught her staring at her and Lara quickly looked away and coughed slightly, staring down at her fingers, a feeling of embarrassment flushed her cheeks.

"Will you be coming over to the company tomorrow?" He asked, seeing her red cheeks. She’s blushing because he caught her staring at his retreating back view.

"Ahh....hmmm" she stuttered, not knowing exactly what to say. She’s sold herself already when she lets him see her staring at him. He might probably be thinking that she likes him.

"No..no, take your time. You can resume another day if you need to rest more for the baby. Just let me know when you would be resuming" Curtis instructed.

"I’m fine. I’ll be resuming tomorrow. I’m fine" Lara responded,not daring to look in his direction again. She seemed to concentrate on her nails as if she hadn’t seen them before.

"Okay, good night" Curtis declared and stepped out. Lara sighed softly for relief and went to the dinning. The aroma of the chicken soup was accompanied with steams as it writhe from the soup.

She took her cutleries and dug into it. But not until the plate became empty did Lara remember that she told herself earlier that she would take a few spoons and then get off it.

She liked it and she appreciated Ms Benny for her great cooking still. She went to the sitting room to watch movies and she soon started dozing.

That’s it, she stood up groggily and went to her room. She sank into her bed and soon dozed off.

In Curtis’ bedroom,he called Lazarus Doe and instructed him "Pay up the mortgage and get back that house" and hung up.

He felt light after talking to Lara. His mood got lifted and he wished he could check on her again. He called the home line and Ms Benny answered.

"Young master, she’s asleep" She reported. She’s happy to see the young master caring for a woman this way. And he’d also told her to look after her properly because his baby was in her belly.

So Young master eventually fucked a woman. His ex was said to accuse him of impotency. That he couldn’t make a baby neither can he make love to her.

That woman ruined him and till date,many believed her lies and claimed she was right to have left him at the altar and walked away into the arms of another man.

It’s either she remained a sexually unsatisfied wife or cheated in her marriage. So she made the right decision to walk away before it became too late.

"Alright, thanks. Good night" Curtis hung up.

Next morning, Lara was awakened by the voice of Lisa, Curtis’ mother. "Where’s that bitch, step out here at once" she yelled. Lara opened her eyes and wanted to get out of bed, but she felt fatigued.

How can she feel so tired in the morning? She should feel relieved. Anyways, the voice of the woman became louder and closer to her.

She pulled herself up when the door yanked open and Lisa Rodney stared at her. She saw her and chuckled aloud. She even sleeps in a separate apartment.

"Bitch!" Lisa came forward and pulled her out of bed but Ms Benny stepped forward and stood between Lara and Lisa.

"You have no right to treat your daughter in-law this way, ma’am. If you have issues with her marriage to your son, you should go to your son not bother the innocent woman" Ms Benny snapped at her.

"Who are you to tell me what to do and not to do? You should be on my side, you knew what Curtis went through and you allowed him to bring a bitch into his house,build an annex structure for her?

I didn’t know Curtis is now a crowned prince who now builds a palace for his queen. Not in my life will I fail to do what is right for my son henceforth " Lisa seethed and suddenly pushed Ms Benny out of the way.

Lara who had now stood behind Ms Benny for shielding was now at the mercy of Lisa as the woman dragged her out of the room, while Ms Benny stood up and went after, pulling Lara back.

But what is her strength to Lisa’s? She kept dragging Lara in her night robe,her hair disheveled and she was scared that this violent attack would affect her baby.

"Let me go,you’re hurting me..." Lara was now struggling, one of her hands on her belly as if that could protect the baby. And Lisa wanted to throw her out but ended up pushing her right into Curtis’ hands.

"Curtis, my baby" Lara cried as she felt her belly hurt, especially her lower abdomen. Quickly Curtis held her in his arms and ordered "Get the car, my baby is in danger"

Without another word,he carried Lara like a princess into his car and ordered the chauffeur to drive as fast as he could. He held her close, her head on his torso.

Oh no, his babies. He cannot allow anything to happen to them. If Ms Benny hadn’t called him,he would have been oblivious to this whole shit.

He was in the middle of a meeting when Lazarus Doe told him of Ms Benny’s call and he stood up abruptly and started rushing down. He kept glancing at Lara at intervals.

"Hold on, Lara. Stay strong for the babies’ sake" he pleaded. He held her and didn’t know when he bent over and kissed her temple.
