A second chance with my billionaire husband-Chapter 1628 - 331: Seamless Loyalty and Righteousness (Part 2)
Later, she drifted to a village downstream, where she was rescued by a villager. She remained unconscious for three days, and upon waking, found herself cut off from the outside world. Anxious about her father, she endured her injuries and set out on her journey.
Recalling the group that had hunted her previously, Dongfang Yi disguised herself as a beggar to head towards Capital City, just in case.
Before reaching Capital City, she heard whispers that her father had been captured.
When she heard the news, she wasn’t too surprised, as she might have been mentally prepared for it.
She knocked on the Dongfang family’s door. The gatekeeper opened it, saw a little beggar, and immediately drove her away in disgust.
"You wretched thing, don’t you see where you are? How dare you come here begging? Get out fast, or I’ll kill you!" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
The gatekeeper cursed at her, pointing at her nose.
But before he could think further, his outstretched hand was immediately gripped. A sharp "crack" sounded, and the pain made him scream instantly.
"Let... let go of me...."
"Open your eyes and see who I am!"
With the woman’s icy voice echoing in the air, the gatekeeper looked at the face that lifted before him. Though slightly dirty, her facial features were unmistakable—exquisitely beautiful, her eyes gleamed with cold light.
"Are... are you the young miss?" The gatekeeper trembled in fear.
Dongfang Yi kicked him aside and strode inside, saying, "Get lost."
Dongfang Yi entered the living room, and the butler saw her, rushing over in surprise and delight: "Young Miss, you’re back, I was so worried, as long as you’re safe...."
Dongfang Yi glanced around: "Where’s my brother?"
"The young master is having a meeting upstairs."
"I’ll go take a shower first, I stink." Just as Dongfang Yi turned, she heard Dongfang Yi’s voice behind her: "Sister, you’re finally back."
Dongfang Yi turned, looking at the man descending the stairs. The warmth in his eyes brought tears to her eyes, and she threw herself into his arms: "Brother...."
Dongfang Yi patted her shoulder gently, "It’s alright, as long as you’re back safely."
Dongfang Yi sniffed: "Brother, don’t you mind my smell?"
Dongfang Yi smiled and touched her head: "How could I mind your smell? You’re my sister."
Dongfang Yi laughed.
But soon, her smile froze upon seeing the two men accompanying Dongfang Yi.
"Young Miss." The two men greeted Dongfang Yi in unison, respectfully.
Dongfang Yi smiled and asked: "Are you here to see my brother?"
The two glanced at Dongfang Yi.
Dongfang Yi gently tousled her hair, saying: "Go take a shower and change your clothes, young girls should dress beautifully."
Dongfang Yi’s eyes briefly darkened, but she smiled obediently: "Yes, I know."
With that, she turned and headed to her room.
As she turned, a glint of coldness flashed in Dongfang Yi’s eyes, his lips pursed lightly.
"Young Master, we have other matters, so we’ll be leaving first."
The two nodded towards Dongfang Yi and quickly left.
Dongfang Yi glanced at the butler with a smile: "I didn’t expect little sister to return—what a pleasant surprise, which means I can give an explanation to father."
The butler nodded with a smile.
But for some reason, there was a growing sense of unease.
Watching Dongfang Yi, the eldest Young Master didn’t seem to have much cunning—perhaps that’s why the elder didn’t favor him. Maybe he was overthinking.
"Sister must have suffered outside, instruct the kitchen to prepare some bird’s nest porridge for her, I’ll deliver it personally."
"Young Master still cares for the young miss."
Dongfang Yi curved his lips and turned back upstairs.
After bathing, Dongfang Yi walked out wrapped in a towel. Thinking of Zong Qing’s death, her father’s predicament, and her own wandering during her disappearance, her heart was filled with unspeakable sorrow and anger. She vowed to take revenge on Ji Yunya and Yan Song, and would not rest until she did.
However, the thought of that gender-ambiguous bodyguard still frightened her. This person could even control bombs—if she hadn’t seen it herself, she wouldn’t have believed such a mysterious master existed at Ji Yunya’s side.
Thinking of this, she felt both fearful and unwilling.
Suddenly, her hand paused as she was pulling on the drawer. She pulled out a sliver of silver silk from the seam, almost invisible to the eye...
Sinisterly wrapping around her finger, she stared at herself in the mirror, her gaze growing dim.
Brother... I hope it isn’t what I think.
The room door suddenly knocked, Dongfang Yi closed the drawer, quickly changed into clothes, and said calmly, "Come in."
Dongfang Yi entered with a bowl of bird’s nest porridge, his features looking particularly handsome and gentle under the light.
"Sister, I instructed the kitchen to make this bird’s nest porridge specifically for you. Drink it while it’s hot." Dongfang Yi’s gentle voice was filled with deep concern.
Dongfang Yi accepted it and looked up with a sweet smile, "Thank you, brother."
Immediately she frowned: "But what if I’m not hungry at all? Maybe I’ll drink it before bed."
Dongfang Yi’s gaze swept over the porridge bowl, smiling, "Of course."
Dongfang Yi sighed: "I know about father’s situation—Brother, what do you plan to do?"
"Of course we will rescue father and rise again. Our Dongfang family will never forget this feud."
Dongfang Yi shook her head: "Rescuing father is as difficult as scaling the heavens. Right now we need to preserve our strength."
"Sister, he is our father, no matter what, I cannot abandon him."
"But brother, acting like this is sending yourself to your death. We’ve fallen into Yan Nanmo’s trap, Duan Tiande and Yan Family are on the same boat—father might not survive this."
"Are you afraid?" Dongfang Yi questioned.
Dongfang Yi sneered: "Brother, you’re still so naïve. Acting this way won’t save father and will cost us blood and treasure—do you think it’s worth it?"
Dongfang Yi clenched his fist and replied coldly: "I only know that father must be saved, come what may."
"What will you use to rescue him? The Three Halls? But the token is in my possession. Apart from father, I’m the only one authorized to deploy the Three Halls."
"Is that so?" Dongfang Yi suddenly stood, "It’s late, sister, rest well."
With that, he turned and left, paused, then looked back: "Don’t forget to drink the bird’s nest porridge."
After Dongfang Yi’s silhouette vanished at the door, Dongfang Yi’s gaze settled on the bowl of bird’s nest porridge. She suddenly picked it up and headed to the bathroom.
She poured all of the bird’s nest porridge into the toilet. With the sound of flushing water, her gaze gradually chilled.
Dongfang Yi exited the room, glanced at the closed door, and a glint of coldness flashed quickly in his eyes.
The night was cool as water, quiet and still.
As the hand was about to fall on her nose and mouth, Dongfang Yi’s eyes suddenly opened, revealing a flash of chill. She rolled off the bed, performing a spinning kick towards the man’s head.
The man dodged, twisting to avoid it, claws reaching for her, eyes filled with murderous intent.
"Why?" She asked in disbelief while dodging.
The man sneered coldly: "From childhood, father has always favored you, completely ignoring my existence. Why is that? Where am I lacking? Only with your death, can the Three Halls fully obey me. My dear sister, it’s time for you to die." His eyes turned vicious as he grabbed Dongfang Yi’s arm, the blade between his fingers cutting into her skin.
