A Night of Desire-Chapter 98: You Should Go Find Seth Quinn
"You landed a role? Who are you trying to fool!" Chloe Grant scoffed in disbelief.
"Is there any reason for me to lie to you? Don’t think that just because you’re pulling strings behind the scenes, I’ll never be able to land a role or break into showbiz."
Clara Grant paused, then added, "From now on, we’ll just have to wait and see who comes out on top."
Hearing such a firm and confident tone, Chloe Grant’s heart lurched. ’So Clara Grant really did land a role? She’s going to enter the entertainment industry just like that?’
’Doesn’t that mean all her previous attempts to block her were a complete waste of time? All that effort, for nothing?’
’No, she would never admit defeat. She absolutely couldn’t let Clara Grant slip into showbiz right under her nose and become her equal!’
"Is that so? Then why don’t you tell me what show you were cast in, and what role you’re playing?"
"It’s not a big role. Just female lead number seven in *A Lifetime of Splendor*," Clara Grant said, her voice light. But Chloe Grant could still detect the thick layer of smug satisfaction beneath her words.
As expected, the moment the words left her mouth, she saw Chloe Grant’s expression shift through several shades. It was quite a sight.
Chloe Grant truly hadn’t expected Clara Grant to get into *A Lifetime of Splendor*. Even if it was just the seventh female lead, it was a role countless people would fight tooth and nail for.
She had auditioned for it herself. She wasn’t aiming for the first or second female lead; she would have accepted the third or fourth. Even the fifth or sixth would have been fine.
But in the end, she hadn’t landed any of them.
She hadn’t heard a single whisper about Clara Grant even being in contact with the *A Lifetime of Splendor* production team. ’How did she suddenly get the role?’
’This can’t be happening. How is this possible? Not to mention, the male lead of this show is Miles Quinn! How could she possibly let Clara Grant spend so much time on the same set with Miles?’
At this thought, Chloe Grant’s expression turned vicious. "Hmph. Clara Grant, don’t forget about those photos and articles on the school forum. With a scandal like that hanging over your head, forget *A Lifetime of Splendor*—I’d like to see *any* production team dare to hire you!"
"You have a point. After all, who would dare to hire someone with such a promiscuous lifestyle and a ruined reputation?" In contrast to Chloe’s viciousness, Clara Grant seemed much calmer, even wearing a faint smile.
"I think you should take those photos and go find Director Keane. Oh, wait, no, you should go find Seth Quinn, the president of Aegis.
"After all, if Aegis blacklists me, I’ll truly have no chance of ever setting foot in showbiz again. My career would be over before it even started."
After speaking, Clara Grant stared straight into Chloe Grant’s eyes, a hint of mockery playing on her lips. "But go find Seth Quinn? Do you dare? Do you even have the right to get a meeting with him?"
"Clara Grant, just you watch and see if I dare! Watch and see if I have what it takes to meet him!" Chloe Grant hissed through gritted teeth. "We’ll see if you actually get to join the cast of *A Lifetime of Splendor*!"
This resolute attitude was exactly what Clara Grant wanted. ’Chloe, taking photos of me and Seth Quinn to Seth Quinn himself, telling him I’m a shameless woman being kept by a man...’
’TSK, TSK, TSK. This is going to be interesting!’
After saying her piece, Chloe Grant took a step back, putting some distance between them. She then turned to the small group of people behind her, her expression a mixture of apology and distress as she spoke.
"I spoke with Clara Grant, but she’s just... unwilling to apologize. How about this, Juno Croft, you be the bigger person this time and just let it go."
Juno Croft caught the signal in her eyes and nodded. "Chloe, for your sake, I’ll drop it. In the future, I’ll just be sure to stay out of her way since I clearly can’t afford to cross her."
Chloe Grant and Clara Grant’s voices had been too low for anyone else to hear their conversation. All the others saw was Chloe’s tireless attempt at mediation and Juno Croft’s subsequent magnanimity. Naturally, the scales of their judgment tipped in their favor.
Immediately, all the students began whispering amongst themselves, their words filled with blame and disapproval directed at Clara Grant.
Clara Grant paid them no mind and turned to walk out of the classroom. The next class was about to start, and she needed to use the restroom.
But she had only taken two steps when she heard someone call her name from behind.
"Clara Grant, come with me to the office."
