A Night of Desire-Chapter 172: This Wine Is Good, Don’t You Want a Taste?
Clara Grant was a little stunned. There was nothing particularly wrong with Faye Jennings’s words, but... ’What’s the meaning behind that suggestive smile?’
’Doesn’t she know perfectly well that I’m married to Seth Quinn? So what’s she playing at, suggestively saying that I get along so well with my brother-in-law?’
’But on second thought, Seth Quinn did remind me not to reveal our marriage. Maybe she’s just saying this on purpose to help us keep it a secret?’
A casual, roguish smile played on Miles Quinn’s lips as he said, "I get along with just about any girl. That includes you, Faye."
Though Miles Quinn was Seth Quinn’s actual brother, a status far more prestigious than Faye Jennings’s, she had started her career even before Seth. Thus, Miles addressed her with the respect due to a senior.
To outsiders, Faye Jennings was beautiful, poised, and charismatic. She was also kind and approachable, never putting on airs. It was no surprise that practically everyone adored her.
But Miles Quinn was an exception.
He always felt there was something... artificial about Faye Jennings. He couldn’t shake the feeling that her true self wasn’t nearly as kind as the face she showed the world.
Besides, she always acted like a concerned senior around him, her tone perpetually earnest and preachy.
Sometimes, it even gave him the strange impression that Faye Jennings wanted to be his sister-in-law.
’Besides, even if she did become my sister-in-law, we’d just be peers.’
"There you go again, Miles." Faye Jennings shot him a chiding glance. "You’re a big star now. You can’t keep joking around like a child. You should be more careful with your words."
"I’ll take your teachings to heart, Faye," Miles Quinn drawled, getting to his feet languidly. "You guys keep chatting. I’m going to the washroom."
And with that, he beat a hasty retreat. He had no intention of sticking around for one of her lectures.
Watching his retreating figure, Faye Jennings smiled and shook her head. "That Miles... He’s still such a child."
With that, she turned to Clara Grant. A smile touched her lips as she raised an eyebrow and said, "Still, Clara, I can see he gets along very well with you, and you’re both about the same age. If you weren’t already married to President Quinn, you and Miles would make a perfect couple, don’t you think?"
A shadow fell over Clara Grant’s features, but she managed a strained smile. "You’re joking, Faye. Miles and I... we’re just friends from school. He was a senior." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Faye Jennings saw it all—the flicker of sadness in Clara’s eyes. A triumphant gleam flashed in her own. ’Just as I suspected. Clara Grant has a crush on Miles Quinn.’
’A sister-in-law in love with her younger brother-in-law. If that got out, what an explosive scandal it would be!’
’The question is, how should it be exposed? And in what manner?’
Faye Jennings masked her look of triumph, took an elegant sip of her wine, and turned back to Clara. "This wine is quite nice, Clara. Don’t you want to try some?"
"No, thank you, Faye. I’m a lightweight. One glass is enough to make me fuzzy." Clara had never been able to hold her liquor, and after a bad experience with alcohol in the past, she was even more hesitant to touch a drop.
"Is that so?" Faye Jennings narrowed her eyes, lost in thought as an idea began to form in her mind.
Snapping out of her reverie, she gave Clara Grant’s shoulder a light pat and said with a smile, "Then it’s best to steer clear of it."

After the production launch dinner concluded and the reporters had departed, the entire cast and crew returned to their respective hotel rooms to rest.
Shooting was originally scheduled to begin that afternoon, but for some unknown reason, Director Keane announced that the official start of filming would be postponed until the next day. He said he wanted everyone to get a proper afternoon of rest first.
Everyone was more than happy to have the afternoon off, and they headed back to their rooms in groups.
Faye Jennings was the female lead, so of course, she had a room to herself. Once back in her room, she dismissed her assistant and agent, then took out her phone and made a call.
