A Little Trick, the Scumbag Dad Can't Hold the Knife After Understanding Love-Chapter 313
Tilting his head slightly, he walked up to Ji Nian and kicked aside a chair as he stared at her.
Compared to him, the girl seemed more like the master of this place, with her seaweed-like curls cascading down her back. It had rained the night before, and the temperature had dropped today. Even in a gray high-necked coat and jeans, her elegance was undeniable.
Her emerald-green eyes fixed on Ji Xi, clear and bright like a forest after rain.
Meeting her gaze, Ji Xi’s heart trembled, as if he’d been poisoned by something that numbed his nerves.
That feeling again—the inexplicable sense of familiarity.
“You’re Ji Xi?”
While Ji Xi was sizing her up, Ji Nian was doing the same.
She had only seen photos and videos of him before, but now, face to face, she had to admit—he really did resemble her. If his eyes were green, standing side by side, they might even be mistaken for twins.
Hearing Ji Nian call his name, Ji Xi felt a strange, secret delight, though he couldn’t place why her voice sounded like that. But the more pleased he was inside, the more arrogant he acted, lifting his chin as he replied, “That’s me.”
He wondered what had brought Ji Nian here.
She must have known about his existence for a while. Why show up now? Had she found out he’d been to the resort, that he’d gotten close to Ji Tingzhou?
Back then, Ji Tingzhou’s reaction had almost made him think his risky efforts were wasted.
After all, the test subjects he’d carefully gathered would beg on their knees like dogs just from smelling the drug once their symptoms were triggered.
But Ji Tingzhou had called the scent disgusting! He’d acted completely unaffected, making Ji Xi doubt whether the drug had even worked.
Later, though, he realized Ji Tingzhou must have been faking it—just enduring it better than the others.
The thought of that man now writhing in agony filled Ji Xi with vicious satisfaction. After being kicked, kidnapped, and scorned, he finally had his revenge.
Ji Tingzhou was probably going mad from the torment, desperate enough to send Ji Nian—someone his own age—to buy the antidote.
Smirking, Ji Xi was about to speak when the girl suddenly stood and strode toward him.
Her abrupt approach caught him off guard, his words dying in his throat as he stared dumbly at her.
Then, the meticulously tied collar of his shirt was yanked forward. A fist cut through the air and slammed into him—right where his ribs had once been broken, whether by accident or design.
“AHHH!!”
Ji Xi’s face instantly paled from the pain. Doubled over, he flailed and knocked over an expensive vase nearby.
Shards of porcelain flew, one slicing a thin red line across his cheek.
The bodyguards assigned to protect Ji Xi, who had been watching warily, immediately moved to separate the two.
Too late.
Ji Nian had already predicted their reaction. With practiced ease, she pinned Ji Xi down, picked up a sharp fragment, and pressed its tip against his slender throat.
She lifted her gaze lazily, the lethal weapon steady in her hand.
“Take another step, and I’ll slit his throat.”
The bodyguards hesitated, clearly underestimating a child’s resolve.
Ji Nian chuckled softly—then twisted her wrist.
The next second—
The shard dug into Ji Xi’s delicate skin, carving a deep gash. Blood welled up instantly as he shrieked in terror, “STOP!! DON’T COME CLOSER!!”
The girl holding him down bore no trace of the earlier familiarity. To Ji Xi, she had transformed into a beautiful devil.
Seeing she was serious, the onlookers froze, even backing away a few steps.
Ji Nian glanced down at the source of Ji Tingzhou’s suffering, her cold eyes sweeping over Ji Xi’s tearful, panic-stricken face. “Shut up.”
Choking back a sob, Ji Xi clamped his mouth shut at her icy disdain, though his body still shook violently from pain and fear.
Ji Xi’s manager came rushing downstairs, nearly fainting at the scene.
If anything happened to Ji Xi, how would he explain it to the higher-ups?
“Ji Nian, right?”
“Listen, kid, you need to calm down. From what I know, Ji Tingzhou has no intention of acknowledging Ji Xi. Hurting him might satisfy your anger, but it’ll only bring trouble to your family.”
When they’d first seen a child, no one had taken her seriously. Checking her belongings had been routine.
But who could’ve imagined a little girl would have the audacity to do something like this?
The reason was obvious—childish jealousy.
Anyone would be upset to learn their father had an illegitimate child.
At his words, Ji Nian playfully traced an invisible line over Ji Xi’s throat with the shard, making everyone tense, afraid her hand might slip.
“Sir, you’ve misunderstood.”
“He was never part of our family. Of course my dad doesn’t claim him.”
The manager’s eyes followed her hand, his tone hardening. “I don’t care why you’re here. Have you thought about how you’ll walk away after hurting Ji Xi?”
Ji Nian lifted her gaze to meet his.
For a child, the look in her eyes was unnerving, sending an involuntary shiver down his spine.
Not wanting to waste time, Ji Nian pulled out a lipstick tube in front of everyone. With a click, a needle flicked out, glinting coldly. Before anyone could react, she stabbed it into Ji Xi’s open wound and forced the liquid inside.
Ji Xi gagged, his eyes widening in disbelief.
“This is called ‘Falling Petals.’ Without the antidote, your skin will rot rapidly, your flesh peeling away layer by layer like petals—until you’re nothing but bones.”
Unheard of!
As a pharmacist, Ji Xi’s first instinct was skepticism, even through the pain. He’d never encountered such a toxin!
“Smell that? Your body’s already starting to decay.”
She leaned down, her emerald eyes reflecting Ji Xi’s bloodless face.
Straightening, she tossed Ji Xi toward the manager like trash, then wiped the blood from her hands with a handkerchief.
The manager caught the injured Ji Xi, startled by her strength—then froze.
A putrid, rotting stench was indeed emanating from Ji Xi.
He quickly raised a hand to stop the advancing bodyguards.
His gaze flickered toward the girl.
Completely unbothered, she shoved aside a guard who reached for her and calmly took a seat on the sofa. After picking through the desserts on the table with clear distaste, she reclined, utterly at ease.
Then, with a slow, humorless smile, she met Ji Xi’s eyes across the room.
“I’d like a few bottles of that pain-relieving drug you’ve been boasting about.”
“I wonder if you’d be interested in the antidote I have?”
As doctors rushed to treat his wound, Ji Xi stared at Ji Nian through the crowd.
On a side note—
He should have been furious, now that her motives were clear.
But for some reason, watching her smirk at him, all he could think was—
She's smiling at me.
