A Husband For Killer Mom-Chapter 226 - Ulterior Motive
226 Ch. 226 Ulterior Motive
Anxia had lost count of how many moves she had made to punch, kick, and knock her opponent down, but Anxia wasn’t tired in the slightest. Although Anxia no longer needed to use her abilities and live peacefully with her husband, she couldn’t spend a day without training as it became her habit. Fortunately, Richard agreed because he realized that many people were after Anxia… especially what was in her brain. That’s why Richard would accompany Anxia to fight training, and occasionally, the man would become her fight partner.
The thing was, Richard never took Anxia seriously and always let her win against him. In the end, Anxia turns him down whenever Richard offers to be her fighting partner.
Fighting Richard was like fighting a child because the man never took her seriously. Even though she was very sure if Richard were to fight against her seriously, Anxia would have a hard time winning against him.
As soon as Anxia finished taking down the last male and the groans of pain from the men sounded in unison, Anxia felt the presence of a new person, and that person gave her casual applause. “How magnificent. As usual, you never let me down.”
Anxia couldn’t help but be surprised when she saw the owner of the voice. He even failed to hide his expression when he saw a black-haired woman with a few gray hairs coming out from behind the dark shadows.
Anxia’s intelligent brain immediately processed everything that happened and her conversation with Richard when he asked her an unusual question.
So… Richard already knows?
Anxia straightened up and looked at the woman with a complicated look.
Over the years, thousands of scenario scenes have always played over her head once she finds traces of her mother and manages to save her. She imagined what kind of atmosphere would be when she met her mother. She imagined herself going to run to hug her mother while tears flowed with emotion, while her mother returned her hug, and both enjoyed their touching reunion. Various scenarios came to mind, but none presented a situation like this.
.....
Anxia would never have imagined that her mother was the one who sent Mei Yin to bring her here. She also never thought that her mother was still alive... in fact, that old lady had been living much better than she thought, considering that woman could oversee Lori’s life for the past five years.
Anxia remained motionless even though the woman opened her arms wide, waiting for her to burst into her arms.
What did that woman think Anxia was? A kid? If it weren’t for her mother, who forced her to separate from Richard and Lori, maybe Anxia would be willing to run and be the child that woman wanted.
But her mother was the one who threatened her by using Lori. This woman also made her leave Richard and separate from her family. Plus, Anxia felt she was dealing with a stranger instead of a mother. She didn’t know whether she could accept her mother back into her life or not.
“Xiao Xia, don’t you want to hug your old mother? You didn’t miss me?”
“Are you really my mother?”
“Of course I am.”
“Anyone could claim as my mother... You see, I don’t remember what my parents look like.” Anxia deliberately used the excuse that she no longer remembered her mother’s face considering that she had been separated from her parents when she was only a toddler... and that was the truth.
Anxia really couldn’t remember what her parents looked like anymore. Having lost both of her parents when she was four, being raised by Master Yu through all that rigorous training made her no longer think of her parents.
However, her heart still recognized her parents—she was sure she would remember them when she saw their faces. It explained how fast she recognized the man lying on all life support devices as her father, who had been in a coma for years. And the woman in front of her right now was her mother, yet at the same time, she felt this old lady wasn’t her mother.
After all, what kind of mother threatened the daughter by using her own granddaughter? Not to mention, if her mother was alive and wished to meet her, why not meet her in London? Even if she admitted that woman was her mother, she couldn’t believe that her mother genuinely wished for their reunion without a hidden agenda.
“I have a photo of the three of us,” remarked the mother.
Anxia decided not to dodge as Loraine Shu walked over to give her a photo.
The photo was an image of her parents and herself when she celebrated her third birthday. She didn’t remember her birthday, but she knew the picture was of her and her parents.
Unknowingly, Anxia gave a faint smile because she could feel the warmth of her family, even if she just saw it in a photo. Anxia saw her young self laughing heartily while her father and mother kissed her right and left cheeks with happy eyes.
Anxia’s mother, Loraine Shu, beamed in delight when she noticed the faint smile on Anxia. It meant that her daughter was starting to believe her.
“So now you believe me?” asked the mother in a hopeful tone.
However, Anxia’s smile immediately disappeared when she heard her mother’s voice.
“Okay, I believe you are my mother.” After all, Anxia missed her mother very much and was relieved to see her mother wasn’t injured or held captive by anyone. But that doesn’t mean she would trust her mother and act like a chick that would follow the mother wherever it goes.
Anxia was not a weak child, and she already had a family. For her, whoever made her separate from her family was not her ally. Therefore, even though she loved her mother very much, Anxia still did not let down the wall of vigilance towards her.
“If you believe I am your mother, why is the indifferent reaction?”
“I always act like this. Especially towards the person who threatened me and separated me from my family.”
“Xiao Xia, am I not your family? Now we will never part.”
“My current family is my husband and my daughter.”
“You mean you won’t acknowledge me as your mother?”
“What is your purpose in bringing me here? If you want to see me, you can come to our house, and I will welcome you with open arms.”
“Xiao Xia,”
“Mother, what do you want from me?”
Loraine Shu was shocked twice by her daughter. She was surprised that Anxia called her ‘mother,’ and she was even more astonished because her daughter could already guess that she had ulterior motives for calling her here.
In the next second, Loraine Shu smiled broadly.
