A Hospital in Another World?-Chapter 842: How to Compensate, Let’s Sit Down and Discuss

Early the next morning, Garrett sat in the mage tower's living room, groggy, hugging his oak staff. His head was nodding, almost hitting the top of the staff.

There was no help for it;the night before, he had expended all his energy. Despite meditating for half the night and sleeping, he still hadn't fully recovered. If not for the urgent matters needing resolution and the guests who rushed in, he would have wanted to sleep for three days and nights.

Beside him, the host mage from Rossegar County sat upright, glancing at him from time to time. His shoulders were tense, spine stiff, and he looked entirely like he was sitting on pins and needles. This Nordmark Mage really knew how to stir up trouble!

He had only been here a few days and had already caused an uproar... Local nobles, temples, even the God of Nature's sect, which hadn't been seen in decades, had all come knocking! And he was expected to mediate, while Nordmark Mage sat to the side, dozing off...

But he didn't dare say anything. In terms of rank, their mage levels were similar, but his arcane rank was lower.

In terms of backing, Nordmark was a direct disciple of a legendary mage, while he had been sent to this remote place for twenty years because he had no significant backing.

In terms of power, well, the shockwave from the previous night still made him secretly fear: even if he exhausted his 200 pounds of flesh, he couldn't produce half of that disturbance!

He looked to his left, where Elder Etto was fuming, his face as dark as water, with several high-ranking priests of the God of Nature next to him, all looking murderous.

Then he looked to his right, where the second son of Earl Rossegar, Knight Peña, sat pale and shrinking. Beside him, a group of noble youths, half with serious faces, half with expressions that seemed to be enjoying the spectacle.

In the side guest seats, the heads of the Temple of the War God and the Temple of the Spring Goddess sat on either side. The two high-ranking priests looked solemn and inscrutable.

But the host mage knew that their opinions could not be ignored.

The temples' entanglements with the local nobles were far deeper than those of the mage tower. Especially the Spring Goddess Temple, where all important positions below the high priest were almost exclusively filled by local noble children...

"Let's hear it," the host mage sighed inwardly as Garrett's chin slipped off the oak staff for the second time and he struggled to sit up straight again. He lightly coughed and gestured towards the Earl's second son:

"The Rossegar family has long occupied the God of Nature's sect's sacred ground, grazing pigs there. Such vile behavior—how do you intend to compensate?"

"This is blasphemy!" Elder Etto immediately retorted:

"The sacred ground is where the sect conducts ceremonies and worships the God of Nature, as well as where generations of priests rest. To graze pigs there, creating so-called family specialty products, is blasphemy!"

He turned his cold gaze towards the representatives of the two temples:

"High Priest Randall, what would you do if someone grazed pigs at the Spring Goddess's sacred spring? Archbishop Jory, if someone occupied the burial grounds of the War God's knights, letting pigs trample around, what would you do?!"

The War God Archbishop's face was ashen, silent. What would they do? According to the War God's temple's habits, they would directly bash in the skulls of the blasphemers' entire family, then dig up their ancestors' graves. Dance on their graves!

Dance on the graves of the War God's knights!

But half of the War God priests were local noble children;a third of the warriors in the War God's temple were noble children. His personal guard, the vice captain of the knights, was even the Earl's second son—

Last night, this vice captain had knelt in the temple all night, begging. The family could give up everything, they could renounce everything, even he could walk the path of penance, become a follower of the God of Nature...

Just don't let the crime be blasphemy!

Whatever happens, it can't be blasphemy!

High Priest Randall didn't want to speak either. The Spring Goddess was the ancestral deity of the royal family, and the temple dealt even more severely with such blasphemy—drawing water from the temple's reserved clean water sources without permission resulted in flogging.

As for dumping dirty water, trash, or even urinating in the clean water source?

How do you want to die?

Temples stand together in solidarity. If a deity is blasphemed today and you don't speak up for them, someone will dare to step on your face tomorrow.

The problem was, the Spring Goddess Temple's priests and knights were almost all noble children. Besides their own assets, a large part of the temple's daily expenses came from noble donations—

Last night, the Rossegar family sent heavy gifts overnight and promised that if they could get through this, they would give the temple a tenth of their ham business.

"This behavior is extremely serious! Very vile!" he scolded with a stern face:

"Knight Peña, how dare you? How dare the Rossegar family occupy the God of Nature's sect's sacred ground, trample on it, and graze livestock! You're utterly blinded by greed!"

"We didn't know!" Knight Peña knelt with a thud, crying with tears and snot:

"We truly didn't know! I always thought that forest was just an area with a magical spring that grew some fine oaks! If I knew it was sacred ground, I would have kept it a secret, never dared to show it to anyone!"

Uh... Was that saying I tricked you into visiting? Garrett wanted to smirk but his eyelids kept drooping, so he kept silent. Elder Etto shouted angrily:

"You didn't know, but your family surely knew! Erich and the others were driven away by your grandfather, the previous Earl!"

Behind him, several elderly elders of the sect and a dozen middle-aged priests glared furiously. Knight Peña denied bitterly:

"But we really didn't know... The area has dozens of hills covered with trees;to us, it's just forest, forest everywhere... We really couldn't tell! We are willing to compensate! Willing to compensate!"

Before Elder Etto could continue his rage, he screamed hoarsely:

"We are willing to invite the God of Nature's servants back! Let them personally restore the sacred ground! All expenses borne by the Rossegar family! All the money the family earned in the sacred ground over the years, we'll return to the sect! Double return!"

Elder Etto's face remained dark. Archbishop Jory of the War God Temple coughed, looking left and right:

"This is certainly not enough! Knight Peña, does the Rossegar family have any sincerity? Such a serious blasphemy must be atoned for with holy rituals!—Where is the Earl? Bring him back!"

"We are willing! We are willing!" Knight Peña agreed repeatedly:

"I've already notified my father!—As soon as he gets the message, he will rush back! By then, he will personally discuss with all of you how to compensate!"
