A Crazy Love Proposal-Chapter 74 - 55 Wait for Me Tonight
Chapter 74: Chapter 55: Wait for Me Tonight
Chapter 74 -55: Wait for Me Tonight
Wen Wei’s heart swelled with sweet turbulence, the regret that almost brought tears to one’s eyes all but revealing itself in front of the younger generation.
If only Wanyi could have seen it.
And Yun Yuwan, holding that stack of property listings, felt their heavy importance, the care and concern as weighty as a mountain.
So it turns out she really wasn’t a dispensable member of the family; her brother was telling the truth, her uncle truly cared about her presence.
Fearing that another glance at that face so similar to Wanyi’s would make him lose composure, Wen Wei hurried upstairs, calling Wen Yangzhi to the study, having something to discuss with him.
He was fully aware that his son, hearing Yuwan call him ‘Dad’ and seeing his own pleasure in that, would certainly feel somewhat off-balance.
Hong Sheng was originally an only son, monopolizing the family’s attention. With Yuwan’s presence and the backstabber being Hong Sheng’s own mother, the situation was complicated.
Wen Yangzhi stood up and as he walked past Yun Yuwan, his hand rested on her shoulder for a moment, the warm and dry palm imparting a comforting weight. At the same time, Yun Yuwan heard his low voice: “Wait for me tonight.”
A very unexpected sentence.
Yun Yuwan was taken by surprise, and while astonished, she felt those four words explode in her ear as she turned to face the window, realizing only then that the rain had stopped.
Her brother’s leg didn’t hurt anymore.
Her face instantly flushed red.
Her brother wanted to be with her.
Meanwhile, Wen Yangzhi made his way upstairs where Wen Wei sat in the study, looking out the window lost in thought.
Only after Wen Yangzhi sat down did he come back to himself.
Wen Wei smiled, somewhat obsequiously: “I didn’t expect you to come back with your sister. Your relationship with Yuwan must be a bit better than I imagined.”
Wen Yangzhi’s reply was indifferent, his tone emotionless without any fluctuations, neither irritated nor pleased: “What do you want to say?”
Wen Wei finally spoke: “Dad’s feelings for Yuwan’s mother were not as light as you think. Dad once pined for her mother for ten years, tormented for a decade, unable to control his yearning for her, yet unable to have her. You’re a man, you should understand.”
In order to persuade him, Wen Wei didn’t hesitate to lower his status and discuss his feelings as if they were equals.
But Wen Yangzhi’s response was cold, his voice sharp without emotional fluctuation, neither annoyed nor affectionate:
“I don’t understand the entanglement of complex loves. Large checks expire in ten days. Unless one day large checks take ten years to expire, maybe then I will understand these emotions.”
Wen Wei knew that his son was cold-hearted, almost indifferent to love and romance, showing no interest at all. In twenty-seven years, he never heard him express a liking for anyone, nor found evidence of any relationships.

Indeed, as Wen Wei had always hoped, his son’s eyes held only matters of the bank, even thriving in it, but love did not touch him, as if he had no vulnerabilities.
Even parents were not his vulnerabilities, something Wen Wei somewhat regretted. That accident didn’t just break Wen Yangzhi’s legs, but also severed the father-son relationship.
Wen Wei even had a vague sense that if one day Hong Sheng developed a new vulnerability, he would forgo or be betrayed by everything for it, even abandon his parents without hesitation.
Keeping things suppressed for too long isn’t good; a volcano is bound to erupt sooner or later. If held back, when it does erupt, it could overturn the entire land.
He was somewhat wary of his son.
Wen Wei spoke tentatively: “But after Yuwan came, do you remember how she used to cling to you? She always ran to Jing Building to find you, and she would often ask about your mother, when brother had holidays, and even your birthday, wanting to prepare birthday gifts for you. Although they were just childish trinkets, they were given with genuine affection for you.”
Wen Yangzhi was unmoved.
He remembered, of course; they were indeed children’s tricks.
Wen Wei’s tone softened a bit: “I know there is no blood relation, but can’t you think of her as your own sister?”
Wen Wei only hoped that his son would harbor even a little affection for Wanyi’s daughter; whether it was pity for her orphaned state, or brotherly care, or perhaps the interest of using her for an alliance and maintaining at least a minimal connection based on utility, it would all be acceptable.
Just not as heartless as he was towards them.
Wen Yangzhi looked up, and for the first time in front of his father, he let out a cold laugh, his usual unaggressive demeanor giving way: “Kin, how close should it be?”
“At the very least, Yuwan treats you like a brother,” Wen Wei argued.
He was definitive: “Not necessarily.”
So cold-hearted was his son, Wen Wei found himself unable to say more.
Wen Yangzhi stood up and left the study, and upon reaching the stairwell, he saw Yun Yuwan listlessly leaning against a window, looking down.
Upon hearing footsteps, she immediately turned, and seeing it was him, she ran over and embraced his waist,
“Brother, why didn’t you tell me you’ve been waiting for me?”
He didn’t answer, finding such a foolish question unworthy of a response.
