A Core Ship From The Start-Chapter 892 - 626 Travel Guide
Chapter 892: Chapter 626 Travel Guide
With the end of the plague incident in Neverwinter City, what naturally remained was the division of the spoils—no, the rewarding of the heroes.
This is not like a game where you get some experience points and Gold Coins after completing a mission. Considering the contributions everyone made to Neverwinter City, Lord Nasher also showed the utmost sincerity—everyone could make a wish, and as long as it was within his power, he would fulfill it!
The rewarded included Kasim and Roxia, who were responsible for helping Eribeth retrieve the ingredients for the plague cure, and then there were Duanmu Huai, Ogis, Amelia, and Luganis.
Amelia, being Tyler’s Sacred Knight and a member of the Silver Knights, belonged to the "system," so her reward could be put on hold; after all, her achievements in defending Neverwinter City alone would suffice for a lifetime promotion. As long as she doesn’t make principled mistakes like Eribeth, she shouldn’t have any major problems.
As for Kasim and Roxia, they didn’t have many demands; they also knew that although they helped retrieve the ingredients for the cure, the major credit for preventing the fall of Neverwinter City was not on their side. Thus, the two of them asked Lord Nasher for some Gold Coins and Magic Weapons, planning to travel around and continue their adventure journey—after all, they were still young and not yet ready to retire in Neverwinter City.
On the other hand, Luganis was eager to stay behind, expressing her desire to settle down in Neverwinter City. Given her awkward identity, which often led to discrimination elsewhere, it seemed she wouldn’t face such issues in Neverwinter City—after all, she was a hero of the city. Having finally found a place to call home, Luganis had no plans of leaving.
As for Duanmu Huai and Ogis... they didn’t plan to stay long in Neverwinter City either, so they just symbolically took some treasures, and of course, Duanmu Huai did receive a nifty item—the "Secret Room Crystal Ball," which looked barely different from a toy crystal ball. It was an enchanted item that could be used once a day to cast "Mage’s Mansion"... well, it did fulfill a wish of Duanmu Huai.
Of course, Duanmu Huai didn’t intend to leave this world just yet. It wasn’t easy coming here, and moreover, he hadn’t traveled with Ogis in a long time; the little girl had been very unhappy about it, so Duanmu Huai planned to take Ogis around this world.
After all, the Black Hole Bomb over there wasn’t built yet, so what’s the hurry, right?
After all, like The world of Cthulhu, this world is full of famous places and treasures that players are eager to visit.
For instance—you’ve come all this way, so wouldn’t you want to visit Icewind Dale to see if there’s a dark-skinned Ranger causing chaos everywhere?
Then, while you are at it, why not drop by the Dwarves’ Mithril Hall?
Not to mention the Northern Land’s Silver Moon City; shouldn’t you get a photo with the city’s ruler, Elascoe, for the memory?
If you find yourself idle and bored, what about visiting Ser, the stronghold of the Red Robed Mages? Experience the unique local customs and culture of the bald Mages?
And let’s not forget Baldur’s Gate, a landmark city of this world; can you say you’ve been to Faelun if you haven’t checked in there?
Or perhaps take a ten-day tour of Hell’s Blood War?
Or even raid the Star Realm and snatch a silver sword from the Geassian Yankees?
There are plenty of fun things to do in this world.
That’s not even mentioning raiding a Five-colored Dragon’s home, arguing with a Bronze Dragon, or confronting the Mithril Doors of Mistralon...
Ah, players truly have tough skins, wanting to try everything.
However, this world wasn’t as ravaged by players as The world of Cthulhu, and for a simple reason: there are indeed many powerful Psychics here, and sometimes players could capsize their own boats if they were not careful. So while people did have fun and mess around, they still kept a sense of proportion.
Oh, right, remember those idiots in the game who started fighting in Mark City, only to be sealed directly into Subspace fragments by a lady and had their accounts frozen... and it was only after they sought help from a DM that they were released.
Originally, Duanmu Huai planned to head north to Icewind Dale and then visit Mithril Hall. Unfortunately, Lord Nasher informed him that due to the recent civil unrest in Luskan, the routes to Icewind Dale were completely sealed off, forbidding anyone from entering or leaving. Under such circumstances, Duanmu Huai didn’t want to trouble himself further, so he settled on an alternative and planned to head south to Deepwater City and then take a ship through Sword Bay to Baldur’s Gate.
No matter what, if you come to Faelun and don’t take a picture in Baldur’s Gate, isn’t that a wasted trip?
After finalizing their itinerary, Duanmu Huai and his companions left Neverwinter City.
The reason it’s called a party is because... this journey wasn’t just for him and Ogis.
First were the two Adventurer teenagers—Kasim and Roxia also joined in; they were planning to go on an adventure anyway, and their first stop was to see the world at Baldur’s Gate. Since their destinations were the same, it made sense for them to travel together.
Apart from them was Amelia—the Sacred Knight stated she needed to go on a pilgrimage, and so she joined Duanmu Huai and the group on the road south.
"So, I wish you all smooth sailing, the outside world can be very dangerous."
Standing at the entrance of Neverwinter City, Luganis seemed to exude a sense of escaping the bitter sea, waving at everyone with a giggly smile.
"I’ll just be here in my cozy home, waiting to hear your adventure stories when you come back."
"Heh."
Seeing Luganis’s expression, Duanmu Huai let out a chuckle.
"Don’t think you can stay out of this, you’d be surprised how dumb you can be for a Magician."
"Huh... where was I dumb?"
"You’ll know when the time comes."
Duanmu Huai chuckled again without saying much else, but he greeted the others and then turned to leave, while Luganis glared fiercely at his retreating figure, then stomped her foot and turned to leave.
I won’t chat with this annoying ghost anymore!
Duanmu Huai didn’t care about Luganis’s resentment towards him. In fact, throughout their journey, he hadn’t forgotten to share with the others some of the places he had been to in the game. Duanmu Huai’s eloquence was average, but luckily the others were all very good listeners. Amelia had lived in Neverwinter City since birth and had hardly ever strayed too far from it. The same was true for Kasim and Roxia; both residents of the Northern Land, or to put it bluntly, country bumpkins, they hadn’t been to cities bigger than Neverwinter City in their lives—or rather, Neverwinter City was their first time as well.
Not to mention places like Deepwater City or Baldur’s Gate.
"This continent is vast and fraught with danger, and of course, you need to be wary of more than just Giant Dragons or Liches. In fact, often it’s creatures like Kobolds and Jackalmen that can be more troublesome."
"Eh? But Kobolds are supposed to be timid creatures, right?"
Upon hearing Duanmu Huai’s warning, Roxia blinked curiously.
"Kasim and I have encountered a few Kobolds during our adventures, and they seemed pretty weak and not very combat savvy."
"That’s precisely why they’re dangerous, just like in the forest where herbivores are far more dangerous than carnivores."
"...Really?"
"Of course, carnivores pose little threat once they’re fed, but herbivores are always in danger of being hunted and can easily become reactionary. The same goes for Kobolds, they’re cunning because they’re weak. But of course... this might be a bit early for you now, but I think you’ll understand one day."
As they chatted, time passed by the minute, and soon, as the night fell, Duanmu Huai brought out his crystal ball and fiddled with it—suddenly, a beam of magic light shot out and hit the air beside them, creating a Teleportation Portal.
Inside was of course the Mage’s Mansion!
"Alright, let’s go in and get some rest."
As he said this, Duanmu Huai made to enter the Mage’s Mansion, but just at that moment Amelia reached out and grabbed him.
"Mr. Duanmu... Can I have a word with you alone?"
"Alone?"
Hearing Amelia’s request, Duanmu Huai glanced at Ogis, who showed a look of dissatisfaction, and reached out to pat the head of his little darling.
"Alright, but just for a little while," he replied.
