Chapter 94.2 - The Mask of Prince

94.2 The Mask of Prince

Faravugi groaned. His muzzle trembling non-stop, the current him was akin to raging flame on the verge of exploding.

But, he barely managed to rein his rage because they had a common goal and Jilbagias' rather peculiar status.

ใ€ŒWe are trulyโ€ฆ Unlucky back thenโ€ฆใ€

Julbagias muttered quietly as he looked down on the floor.

ใ€ŒAnd youโ€ฆ Why didnโ€™t you get away from that place tooโ€ฆใ€

ใ€Žโ€ฆ Coz in a few days, I would have gathered enough power to counter the curse that hit me.ใ€

Answered Faravugi while squinting his eyes in frustration.

ใ€ŽNormally, I'll hide my whereabouts and move on before things get out of controlโ€ฆ Butโ€ฆ I really needed just a bit more power back thenโ€ฆ If your story about the other prince coming not long after that, I guess it's already too late for me thoughโ€ฆใ€

Though their race were different, both Faravugi and Jilbagias fell into silence with a grieved look on their face.

ใ€Œโ€ฆ Dad.ใ€

Lyla, who was listening in silence, finally spoke to her father.

ใ€ŽOoh, Lyla.ใ€

Faravugi looked at his daughter with a pained smile on his face.

ใ€Žโ€ฆ Sorry. Iโ€ฆ Really caused a lot of trouble for you.ใ€

ใ€ŒDadโ€ฆ Why are you leaving the castle?ใ€

Faravugi escaped along with the White Dragon Faction.

That was the thing that Orphen had always said to Lyla. And she had always believed that and yetโ€•โ€• Now that she met him, she realized that her father wasn't the kind of person who would make such a stupid decision with his faction on the line no matter how impulsive he was.

Faravugi's eyes dyed in hatred upon hearing Lyla's question.

ใ€ŽGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Orphenโ€ฆ Those hateful dark dragons!ใ€

ใ€ŒD-Dad! Cโ€ฆ Calm down!ใ€

ใ€ŽM-My badโ€ฆ!ใ€

But he calmed down immediately upon hearing her daughter's voice, startled to be exact.

ใ€ŽMy emotion toward thisโ€ฆ Becoming more and more unrulyโ€ฆ The cold darkness keeps tormenting meโ€ฆใ€

Lyla sympathized with her father. Even though he had the light attribute, he was covered by thick deep darknessโ€ฆ

ใ€ŽWe gotโ€ฆ Tricked by the Dark Dragons.ใ€

Her father continued his story bit by bit.

Faravugi led his faction to protest about the unequal treatment between the white dragons and dark dragons in regard to distribution of goods and their role in battle.

The dark dragons who were waiting in secret used a confusion curse on the humanized white dragons.

Faravugi managed to endure the curse somehow, alas, the immature dragons that had yet to be able to withstand the curse started to go on a rampage in their dragon forms, and luckily enough they managed to fight back the dark dragons without any incident back then.

ใ€ŽThen it was no longer the usual factional strife, it became an assassination attempt!ใ€

During the melee, a few younglings and Faravugi's wife wereโ€•โ€•

ใ€ŽFreya is killed!!!ใ€

Lyla bit her lips hearing her mother's name.

ใ€ŽAnd then, when things spiraled out of controlโ€ฆ That bastard Orphen appeared! Taking you, Lyla, as hostage! He then said that as long as we back down and leave, he won't say anything about this incident, so Iโ€ฆ Along with the rest of the clan ran with our tail between our leg!!ใ€

Said Faravugi as a droplet of darkness spilled from his eyes.

ใ€ŽSorryโ€ฆ! I'm such a uselessโ€ฆ Father! Until then, no matter how much I hated those dark dragons, I still regard them as peers of the same race. And yet, those ba*stards have always seen usโ€ฆ The white dragonsโ€ฆ As nothing but an enemyโ€ฆใ€

He couldn't realize that fact. f๐š›ee๐ฐ๐—ฒ๐›n๐จv๐šŽ๐—น.com

He felt responsible for his negligence.

ใ€ŽSorry Lylaโ€ฆ I'm really sorry for leaving you behind and causing all sorts of trouble. I'm really sorry!ใ€

Though it was blocked by a barrier, Faravugi kept inching as close as possible to Lyla.

ใ€ŒDaddyโ€ฆ! Youโ€ฆ You did nothing wrong!ใ€

Lyla barely managed to squeeze her voice as tears spilled from her eyes.

ใ€ŽThat's why Iโ€ฆ Cooperated with the human race to get them to help with my revengeโ€ฆใ€

Faravugi looked at Jilbagias.

ใ€ŽAnd the following event isโ€ฆ Just as you already know. I ended up causing a lot of trouble for Lylaโ€ฆ Rather, I'm really glad to see her safe and sound after all of thatโ€ฆใ€

At that moment, he twitched as if noticing something he overlooked.

ใ€ŽBut, why Lyla is with you?ใ€

ใ€ŒFirstlyโ€ฆ I wanted you to calm down before you hear my side of the story.ใ€

Jilbagias explained the events that brought them to the present really carefully.

ใ€Œโ€ฆ Orphen representing the dragon race offered Lyla to me as a gift of apology and compensation after our battle.ใ€

ใ€Žโ€ฆใ€

Faravugi's jaw opened wide, astonished upon hearing the answer.

He was truly dumbfounded.

And then, once he snapped out of his shock, suddenlyโ€•โ€•

ใ€ŽGRRโ€•โ€•GROAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR! ORPHEN YOU BASTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD!!ใ€

He roared.

Though it wasn't enough to break the barrier, the light attribute that gathered in his maw indicated that he was about to use breath, but since it was the light attribute that opposed the darkness attribute that composed his spiritual body, Faravugi ended up screaming in pain due to his own natural attribute and regained his composure.

ใ€ŽGuh, Grrrrโ€ฆโ€ฆ..ใ€

He kept cursing as the magical power of darkness rose from his mouth like smoke.

Seeing his current pitiful appearanceโ€ฆ No one would expect that he was the patriarch of the white dragon. He couldn't even act rationallyโ€ฆ

ใ€ŒI've taking care of your daughter to the best of my ability.ใ€

Jilbagias bowed to Faravugi.

ใ€ŒAnd the reason I summoned you is related to that.ใ€

ใ€ŽWhatโ€ฆ Do you mean?ใ€

ใ€ŒThe truth isโ€ฆ I'm learning necromancy.ใ€

Faravugi couldn't hide his shock upon knowing that his soul would be subjected to a necromancy experiment during the next lesson.

Even Lyla shuddered upon hearing that, one could only imagine just how shocked he was upon knowing that fact.

ใ€ŽW-What shouldโ€ฆ I do then?ใ€

ใ€ŒCalm down. It's not really a bad situationโ€ฆ In the first place, I can't just let you off on your own device, not after you discovered my identity.ใ€

Jilbagias looking at both Lyla and Faravugi.

ใ€ŒThat's whyโ€ฆ I want to ask your permission to enclose your soul with my necromancy and put you under my protection.ใ€

ใ€Žโ€ฆใ€

The fatherโ€•โ€• Faravugi looked down in silence at Lyla.

Lyla had also looked at her father.

ใ€Žโ€ฆ I, see.ใ€

After pondering in silence for a while, Faravugi raised his face.

ใ€ŽI'm, really grateful for your offer, Hero.ใ€

Lyla heaved a sigh of relief upon hearing her father's replyโ€•โ€•

ใ€Žโ€•โ€•But I refuse.ใ€

But both Lyla and Jilbagias's eyes opened as wide as a saucer upon hearing Faravugi's obstinate attitude.
