365 Days of Rejected Proposal: CEO's Rebellious Pet-Chapter 158: Jenson Forrest Kept a Woman in Another Wedding House
Zinnia Lawrence watched her back, the ease and calm between her brows shattered, overwhelmed by fear and panic.
No, Crystal Sutton deliberately sowed discord; she had already trusted her once and was led astray.
If she foolishly believes again and questions Jenson Forrest casually, wouldn’t she be playing right into Crystal Sutton’s hands?
Looking for a woman for sixteen years, does Crystal Sutton not know math? How old was Jenson Forrest sixteen years ago?
Zinnia Lawrence walked back to the hospital, troubled with worry, and just as she came out of the elevator, she saw Timothy Cohen coming over to order a meal.
"Secretary Cohen, where are you ordering food? The Sovereign Court villa is nearby; why don’t I personally prepare some meals rich in iron for you?"
Timothy Cohen hurriedly replied, "Aunt Kramer has prepared them. I can just head to Sovereign Court to pick them up. Mrs. Forrest, you’re pregnant now, and if you exert yourself, the boss would kill me!"
Zinnia Lawrence smiled with pursed lips and asked, "Has my third brother visited the villa at Mount Aeridor recently?"
"No, Mrs. Forrest, why do you ask?"
"Just asking, Secretary Cohen, hurry along."
Zinnia Lawrence had been watching Timothy Cohen’s expression closely. When she mentioned Mount Aeridor villa, Timothy Cohen’s face showed not a hint of color change.
Timothy Cohen is Jenson Forrest’s close assistant; if Jenson Forrest were keeping a woman at Mount Aeridor villa, how could Timothy Cohen not know?
It really is Crystal Sutton talking nonsense again!
Why doesn’t she just make up that Jenson Forrest reincarnated with memories from a past life and is looking for a lover from 28 years ago?
Ridiculous!
Since she decided to reunite with Jenson Forrest, she doesn’t want to doubt easily because if a couple starts without trust, it’s hard to move forward.
Zinnia Lawrence took a deep breath, lowered her head, and opened her palm.
In her palm were a few strands of hair that she had just managed to pull from Crystal Sutton’s head.
She twisted the strands, placed them in her pocket, and walked quickly towards the hospital room.
Hospital room.
When Zinnia Lawrence pushed open the door, she saw the man sitting on the hospital bed, holding a document and reading it.
Zinnia Lawrence walked quickly over and snatched the document from his hand.
Jenson Forrest thought it was a bodyguard, his eyes coldly raised, showing annoyance.
Zinnia Lawrence stood there holding the document, frowning and looking displeased.
"The doctor said you should rest well; you lost too much blood. Sleeping aids recovery; don’t you know? Stellar can manage without you for a day or two!"
Jenson Forrest looked at the bright woman with the little frown in front of him, her nagging erased the coolness from his handsome face; a recollection flickered in his deep eyes.
Some long-lost scenes jumped into his thoughts.
"Brother, if you don’t blow dry your hair, you can’t sleep, I’m telling you, you’ll get a headache when you’re old, get up!"
"Brother, why the cold face again today? You should smile more, like me, even if not showing eight teeth, two will do, you look so good, not smiling is such a waste!"
And many more...
Zinnia Lawrence loved to mind his affairs as a child, always nagging.
She was very warm, like a little sun, a ray of light in his cold and dull life.
Later he went abroad, and their contact lessened.
Upon returning, the little girl had grown into a young lady, mature and steady, and became distant from him.
In front of him, she was quiet, with many girlish secrets, no longer talking to him.
No, she has other confidants now.
And now, looking at Zinnia Lawrence, Jenson Forrest could see glimpses of her childhood self.
The corners of the man’s lips lifted slightly, he beckoned with his hand.
"Come closer."
Zinnia Lawrence placed the document on the bedside table, stepped closer, and bent down.
"What’s wrong?"
The next second, she was pulled into Jenson Forrest’s arms.
"Ah, what are you doing? Be careful of the wound!"
Zinnia Lawrence lifted her head from the man’s embrace, glaring at him.
The man leaned back, his cool brows and eyes close, reflecting her small face, his lips slightly pursed as he spoke.
"Want to mind my business?"
His teasing gaze fixed on her; Zinnia Lawrence felt her face heat.
She bit her red lips lightly and countered, "Can’t I?"
Jenson Forrest curled his lips, "No, I am Jenson Forrest; not just anyone can manage me."
Zinnia Lawrence felt a twinge of sourness in her heart, somewhat disappointed.
Was she too eager, crossing the line?
She was about to apologize when Jenson Forrest spoke again.
"But if you really want to manage, you can, unless..."
Zinnia Lawrence’s eyelashes trembled slightly, "Unless what?"
"Manage once, get a reward."
"Reward?" Zinnia Lawrence didn’t react initially.
The man raised his brow, pointed at his lips, his arms folded behind his head, lazily watching Zinnia Lawrence.
Clearly indicating she should kiss him.
Under the man’s dark gaze, Zinnia Lawrence slowly leaned closer, quickly pecking his lips.
As she was about to lift her head, the man pressed her nape, deepening the kiss.
He drank in the sweet taste between her lips and teeth, only releasing her when satisfied, his forehead resting against hers, saying hoarsely.
"I’ll listen to you, but these two documents are urgent from Timothy Cohen. Will you read them to me?"
Zinnia Lawrence, breathless from the kiss, instinctively nodded at his words.
She picked up the documents again, reading them to Jenson Forrest.
As she read, something felt off.
Her mouth dry, yet the man leisurely, who’s working exactly!
Fine, Jenson Forrest is injured; let him have it his way for now.
Zinnia Lawrence, a bit frustrated, read the documents aloud to Jenson Forrest, then fixed two pieces of data under his dictation.
Putting down the documents, she was thirsty, and Jenson Forrest already had a cup of water handed to her.
Zinnia Lawrence looked up, meeting the man’s gentle, deep eyes.
He said, "You’ve worked hard, wife."
He rarely called her wife so seriously.
Zinnia Lawrence blushed instantly; when she tried to take the cup, the man brought it to her lips, signaling her to open her mouth, and she softly parted her lips.
It was just an ordinary cup of water, but she tasted sweetness.
Yet sometimes the sweeter it is, the more care, the more anxious one becomes.
Inappropriately, Zinnia Lawrence thought again of Crystal Sutton, her words swirling in her mind, her gaze turned to Jenson Forrest.
"You..."
The man’s lips curled slightly, nonchalantly watching her hesitating expression, "What about me?"
Zinnia Lawrence met his gaze, hesitated but didn’t ask, only said.
"Can you avoid seeing Crystal Sutton alone in the future?"
That woman, Crystal Sutton, is like a crazy fanatic; Zinnia Lawrence always felt she wouldn’t keep quiet.
Jenson Forrest looked at her amusedly, without speaking.
Zinnia Lawrence felt uncomfortable being watched by him, angrily said, "Will you agree or not?"
Only then did the man laugh, his gentle, clear voice unhurried.
"I promise. Who knew Mrs. Forrest had such a strong sense of possessiveness?"
Zinnia Lawrence felt embarrassed, "Men and women are alike; men have possessiveness, naturally we women do too! Anyway, you’re a married man, constantly keeping distance from other women is a basic quality of being a husband!"
Jenson Forrest chuckled softly, about to reply, when the hospital room door was knocked.
It was Ryder Reynolds.
His expression stern, "Third Young Master, there’s trouble with the Sterling Family."
Zinnia Lawrence silently stepped aside upon seeing this.
"Speak." Jenson Forrest immediately straightened his posture.
"The Young Master Sterling’s death leaked early. People are discussing it online; the Sterling’s stock prices are plummeting. Some shareholders are demanding the Sterlings give an explanation on their website, while some radicals protest outside Sterling’s building, posting altered images of Young Master Sterling’s memorial photos."
He said this, handing a tablet to Jenson Forrest, who opened up the video on it.
A crowd gathered noisily below the Sterling’s building, with the leading man holding a black-and-white memorial photo of Raquel Sterling, blood-red paint on the face reading "short-lived ghost," beneath it said, "Sterling cheats wealth, repay shareholders’ money, Raquel Sterling suffers eternal damnation."
Jenson Forrest looked at the jumbled and resentful memorial photo, his brows furrowed.
Zinnia Lawrence saw this, shocked, her mind flashed with something, yet she couldn’t grasp it.
