Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Jenson Forrest Chases His Wife at the Airport

"Kramer, what’s going on? Are you pregnant?"

Director Ward came to his senses, frowning as he glared at Joy Kramer. If she was pregnant but had hidden it to join the crew, wouldn’t that delay filming? It hadn’t been easy for Joy Kramer to get the role of the second female lead. What would she do if she lost it over this?

She immediately shook her head anxiously at Director Ward. "I... I, I..."

Yara Fairchild pulled Joy Kramer aside to help her out. "Director Ward, I know about this. Joy had a miscarriage!"

Joy Kramer immediately followed suit. "Yes, yes! I had a miscarriage for the sake of my career!"

Jenson Forrest let out a cold sneer. "A miscarriage? When? At which hospital?"

His gaze was as sharp as a knife. Under his stare, Joy Kramer was on the verge of tears as she forced herself to speak. "I... I don’t even know you! This is my private business, why should I tell you? I..."

The producer standing nearby recognized Jenson Forrest and immediately tugged on Joy Kramer’s arm. "Joy Kramer! How can you speak to President Forrest like that? Answer him honestly! Now!"

If an actress from their crew offended Jenson Forrest, they could forget about starting production. They might as well disband on the spot. The producer quickly grabbed a wine glass and bowed apologetically to Jenson Forrest, while Director Ward also scrambled to his feet in a panic.

In an instant, everyone in the private room was standing, the air filled with a chorus of apologies and flattery. Jenson Forrest’s face was like stone. He ignored them all, his eyes still locked on Joy Kramer.

All eyes turned to Joy, and the pressure in the room intensified.

Joy had seen Jenson Forrest once before when she covered for Zinnia Lawrence during a prenatal checkup, and he had looked familiar even then. But she never imagined she had offended such a powerful figure. Her face was pale, and she was on the verge of tears as she shot a pleading look at Yara Fairchild.

At this point, Yara could no longer let Joy take all the heat. She stepped in front of her friend, facing Jenson Forrest directly. "President Forrest, let’s talk outside. If there’s something you want to know, you can ask me. This has nothing to do with Joy!"

Jenson Forrest knew Yara Fairchild’s temper. He had been pressuring Joy precisely to put pressure on Yara.

His cold gaze finally shifted to her. "I hope Miss Fairchild won’t disappoint me," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "Otherwise, anyone in Veridia who dares to fool Jenson Forrest will pay the price."

Hearing this, Joy was so frightened that tears welled up in her eyes, and she tugged fearfully on Yara Fairchild’s sleeve. Yara’s face had also turned pale. She gave Joy a reassuring look, nodded, and then followed Jenson Forrest out of the room.

Once they left, the private room fell silent. Finn Quinn, who had hung back a moment, waved a hand at the terrified Director Ward and the others. "It’s alright. President Forrest is just handling a personal matter. Please, continue."

With that, he followed the others out.

Yara Fairchild followed Jenson Forrest to another private room. The man appeared outwardly composed, but his aura told a different story. He was clearly past the point of waiting and cut straight to the chase.

"The person who went for the prenatal checkup was Zinnia, wasn’t it? She’s pregnant?" Though it was a question, his tone was one of absolute certainty.

Yara Fairchild’s face whitened. "You’ve already guessed, so why are you asking me? But hiding this from you has nothing to do with Joy Kramer. She doesn’t even know Zinnia is Young Master Forrest’s wife. She was just helping us out. Please, Young Master Forrest, don’t make things difficult for her. If you’re angry, direct it at me!"

Although Jenson had already guessed and was certain in his heart, hearing Yara Fairchild’s confirmation still sent a shockwave through him as a thousand emotions surged in his eyes.

Zinnia really is pregnant! She’s carrying our baby! I’m going to be a father!

The thoughts flashed through his mind one by one. But in the midst of his overwhelming joy, he was struck by the swift memory that his wife had run away.

She ran away with our child! She’s pregnant but refused to tell me. She went to great lengths to hide it and was even planning to escape while carrying our baby!

Rage and a hollow ache brewed a bitter concoction in his heart, wrapping him in an aura of cold, gloomy fury. Even the normally bold Yara broke into a cold sweat, her face paling.

Worried that Yara Fairchild might be crushed by Jenson Forrest’s oppressive anger, Finn Quinn stepped slightly in front of her. "Jenson," he urged, "it must have been Zinnia’s idea. Yara was just listening to her, so you can’t blame her for everything."

Yara, however, didn’t appreciate the help. Worried that Jenson would direct all his wrath at Zinnia, she pushed Finn aside and declared, "His own wife is pregnant but doesn’t dare tell him! Why is that? Shouldn’t Young Master Forrest do some self-reflection? And who said it was all Zinnia’s idea? I also—MMH! MMH!"

Before she could finish, Finn slapped a hand over her mouth.

Jenson, however, had no time to argue with Yara. He was already storming out of the room, a murderous aura radiating from his back. Yara angrily shoved Finn away. "Let go of me! Who told you to push all the blame onto Zinnia!"

"Talk about biting the hand that feeds you! I was trying to help! Otherwise, you’d be lucky to keep your legs, let alone your head! This is between them as a couple. Besides, Zinnia is carrying my brother’s child. What’s he really going to do to her? You should worry about yourself first, you foolish woman!"

But Yara was still worried. She quickly pulled out her phone to call Zinnia, but Finn snatched it from her hand.

"What are you doing? Give it back!"

"No way! I’m telling you, tipping her off will only make your ’crime’ worse!"

Yara blew her top and started chasing Finn around the private room.

「Airport, Waiting Lounge」

Zinnia bent over, bracing a hand against the wall, and gagged twice into a nearby trash can.

"Drink some water. It might help." A clear, concerned male voice said from behind her. It was Alaric Hawthorne. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

He gently patted Zinnia’s back and handed her an open bottle of water.

Zinnia looked up, her face pale. She took the water and took a small sip. "Thank you, Senior Brother."

"Why did the morning sickness suddenly get so severe? Has it been like this before?" Alaric asked, his brow furrowed with worry as he noticed the beads of sweat on her forehead.

Zinnia shook her head, forcing a smile. "I’m fine, really. I’m feeling much better. My flight is about to board, so you don’t need to stay with me, Senior Brother. You should get going."

Alaric helped her to a chair. Only after she urged him a few more times did he finally head toward his own departure gate.

Zinnia sat there and placed a hand over her lower abdomen, her expression a mixture of helplessness and sorrow.

Coco, do you know that Mommy is leaving Daddy? Are you sad for me?

She had come up with the nickname on the taxi ride back after leaving the Forrest family estate that day. She thought that from now on, the only one she would have to rely on, the only one to accompany her through life, would be her baby. The baby was her little treasure, her source of energy.

Coco was a very well-behaved baby and never caused her much trouble. Zinnia had only experienced a few days of morning sickness at the very beginning. After that, the child was so quiet it was as if they were already sensible and knew to be considerate of their mother. Zinnia had been working so hard lately, practicing her dancing and trying to earn money. If the baby hadn’t been so good to her, she never would have been able to accomplish so much.

But for some reason, on the way to the airport today, the morning sickness had suddenly returned with a vengeance.

It’s as if the baby knows I’m leaving... Coco, is it... you? You don’t want Mommy to leave?

The thought sent an endless wave of pain, sorrow, and bitterness through her heart.

As she was lost in a daze, a sudden commotion broke out in the airport. People nearby began to exclaim in surprise.

"Oh my gosh, what superstar or big shot is this? Look at all those bodyguards!"

"Ahhh! The man in the lead is so handsome! His aura and charisma are incredible!"

Zinnia instinctively looked up, her gaze following the crowd’s, and the color instantly drained from her face.
