The silence between us lasted for a few, long seconds before a sweet smile finally blossomed on Rosaline’s lips.

"Complete an S-rank mission. The only S-rank mission in the clan that has remained in-completed for close to ten years."

I returned her smile, my gaze unfazed as she handed me the scroll.

I collected the scroll while she continued and began explaining a few things I had to note.

"I’ll be back for my kiss." When she was done, i said quietly, winking at Rosaline before smoothly departing.

Rosaline remained staring at me, an unreadable emotion in her eyes.

No one could tell what thoughts were going through her mind as she continued staring at Aristarkh’s back all the way until he vanished from her ine of sight.

Her smile didn’t recede in the slightest, instead it only became more prominent as Aristarkh’s name slipped from her lips.

"Aristarkh..." the name seemed soothing to call out and she felt a warmth blossom in her chest, a hint of anticipation glinting in her eyes.

After taking the mission I departed from the estate.

By now, my strength had already reached the fifth rank. Aside from the increase Lydia had brought me, I had also spent some time absorbing cursed energy, which resulted in a slight improvement to my overall power.

Beyond the Targaryen mansion stretched a vast expanse of trees and wild grass that ran for thousands of meters. The forest remained dense as far as the eye could see, with no sign of thinning anywhere in sight.

Relying on the memories I had inherited, I crossed the grassland without much trouble, and before long, a circular elevated platform appeared ahead of me.

Stepping into its center, I raised the mission scroll that had been handed to me.

At once, a blinding wave of light burst from the engraved marks beneath my feet, forcing my eyes to narrow as it devoured my vision. A violent surge of cursed energy rose around me immediately after, swallowing my body in an overwhelming tide of power.

My perception lurched violently.

For some time, the only thing I could hear was the distant chirping of birds. Then, little by little, my senses began to return. Control over my body followed soon after, and the blinding light gradually receded.

When I finally opened my eyes, I found myself staring at the fading glowing marks beneath my feet. I watched them with open amazement until they vanished completely.

What I had just used was a teleportation ring.

As mentioned before, cursed energy came in many forms, including types capable of affecting space and time. It was said that once a person’s cursed rank reached a certain threshold, they could begin to faintly touch the essence of space, and perhaps even time itself.

There were also those born with a natural affinity for space, and in far rarer cases, time.

’Hopefully, sooner or later, I’ll encounter a woman with space or time affinity. If I form a bond with someone like that, the rewards would be tenfold...’

The thought did not trouble me much. I knew it was only a matter of time.

Opening the scroll, I read through the mission details once more.

[Kill the succubus queen of the north, and bring back her head for appraisal.]

I narrowed my eyes.

’Kill the succubus queen?’

’And how exactly am I supposed to find her?’

Several questions surfaced in my mind, and in the end, I decided it would be best to ask around while keeping an eye out for anything suspicious.

Just as Rosaline had said, the teleportation ring had placed me in the most suitable location to gather information related to my mission.

Glancing around, I immediately noticed that this place was a complete contrast to the dense forest I had left behind.

A carriage passed not too far away.

After a brief moment of thought, I raised a hand.

"Excuse me."

The driver, seated atop the horse, came to a stop and stared at me for several long seconds before a delicate feminine voice drifted from inside the carriage.

"What is the reason for the obstruction?"

The driver kept his eyes on me as he scrutinized me carefully, then replied, "A passerby is interrupting us."

Silence followed from within the carriage for a few seconds before the same voice sounded again.

"What does he want?"

The driver turned toward me with a displeased look and lifted a brow, clearly waiting for my answer.

For a brief moment, the urge to split his skull open with cursed energy surfaced in my mind, but I suppressed it just as quickly.

I needed their help for now, which meant keeping my temper under control.

’Though I can always revisit that thought later,’ I mused inwardly with a faint grin.

Choosing my words with care, I replied, "Have you noticed anything strange happening around here lately?"

"Anything strange?" the woman inside murmured.

She fell silent again, and just when I thought she intended to ignore the question, her voice rang out once more.

"I have indeed heard some unusual things over the past few days."

Before I could speak, she continued.

"Come back with me to the mansion and you can see the exact information I’m referring to. Dan, let him in."

The moment she finished speaking, the driver shot me a glare and drew a finger across his throat, his killing intent flickering openly as a warning.

A chilling wave of pressure answered him at once.

His expression froze.

His eyes widened in horror, but before he could react, I had already passed by him and pulled the carriage door open.

For several moments, he remained stiff, clearly shaken by the glimpse of aura I had shown him. Only after swallowing hard did he turn his attention back to the road.

I ignored him completely and stepped inside.

The instant I entered, the scent of roses and soap drifted into my nose. Seated within was one of the most beautiful women I had ever seen.
