Not long after Xiu left with Michael, another guest found his way inside the mansion. He was tall, with dark black hair and a powerful physique that oozed out aura.

His presence carried a smell of authority and command, making people instinctively lower their heads before him. The man’s scars didn’t help the situation, as he just seemed too ferocious.

Yet, at this moment, the man’s chiseled face was twisted in nervousness and fear. He was scared. He feared meeting his dear sister and talking to her after so long.

But what if she despised him for his choices? What if she hated him?

The last time they met, she didn’t even acknowledge his presence. He knew he deserved it, but it still hurt him and made him scared to meet that fate again.

’What do I do?’

When Liliana had invited him, he was overjoyed but soon that feeling turned into dread. He didn’t have the courage to face his family even after years.

So, now here he was, standing at the gate fidgeting in nervousness. Decades of being in the army and slaughtering hordes of demons never made him scared but facing his family did.

The butler who had opened the gate for him stood there, watching him along with the maids. Arthur was sure he must be wondering if he had some mental damage.

After all, he was just standing there instead of going inside. Neither was he leaving so they were also in an awkward position because of him.

’Haah! Why am I being so pathetic today?’ Arthur sighed, massaging his forehead. ’It’s Xiu. She’ll fight you, kick you, even break your head but she won’t hate you. She’s your sister, goddamn it.’

Funnily enough, he was more scared of Xiu hating him rather than Aegon hating him. All because he knew he deserved all the hate from Aegon for abandoning him.

Just then, he noticed a presence in his perception and turned around. A short distance away from the mansion, he could see a young woman looking around in confusion.

’She probably called her too,’ Arthur thought. ’Maybe to join the Red Viel considering they’re protecting Aegon.’

"Wait for a bit," he told the butler before going towards the young woman.

When he got close, she jumped in surprise and took out her weapons in full alert but soon relaxed when she saw his face.

Then, she saluted him with her hand on her forehead, palm shading her right eye and posture straight.

"Marshall!"

"At ease," Arthur waved his hand. "What are you doing here?"

"Lady Liliana summoned me," Claire stood straight and answered. "But seeing the situation around the mansion, I got worried and began to inspect the land."

"Better ask her directly," Arthur said. "Whatever happened here, Lily and Xiu were directly involved in it so there’s nothing to worry about. I can also feel their presence inside so they’re safe."

Claire heaved a sigh of relief hearing that. She was really worried thinking that Aegon was once again attacked and she wasn’t there to protect him.

Fortunately, everyone was safe.

It was only then she realised something as she looked up and asked, "Forgive my intrusion, Marshall but what are you doing here?"

Although she didn’t say it, her meaning was clear to him. Arnold had forbidden him from getting near Aegon, so why was he here?

"That’s what I’m curious about too," Arthur sighed and turned around. "Aegon invited me today."

Claire was surprised to hear that and realised this was an exception to Arnold’s orders. If Aegon himself wanted to meet Arthur, then it didn’t go against his orders, right?

"Let’s go. Lily must also be waiting for you," Arthur said, already walking towards the mansion.

Claire blinked, reality dawning on her as she exclaimed, "Shit! Shit! I’m dead! I’m late! She’ll kill me!"

With that, she started running and took over Arthur in seconds. He could only look at her silhouette and shake his head helplessly.

"Silly girl. As if Lily would ever do something to you."

Arthur’s steps grew confident as he entered the mansion once again, without stopping in nervousness this time and went to the courtyard with the maids leading the way.

He had realised something important while talking to Claire. Aegon had invited him and if he missed this opportunity to meet and talk with him, then he might never get it again.

So even though he was still scared to meet them, he still chose to go in there. The thought of never meeting them again haunted and scared him even more.

Soon, he could see the courtyard and the things happening there. Seeing that, he couldn’t help but smile.

Claire had just reached the courtyard when she was subjected to the cold, emotionless gaze of Liliana. She buckled up and bowed, her head parallel to the ground. "I’m sorry for being late again, Mistress."

The courtyard turned silent, as all eyes fell upon Liliana who just picked up another glass of red wine and said, "Do you know what transpired here?"

Claire cursed herself for being late again and said, "I do not. I’ll accept punishment for being indisciplined."

"Perhaps, I really should punish you this time," Liliana said, swirling the glass in her hand. "How about a month of meditation under the Sofalic Falls?"

Claire felt her blood run cold hearing that, as she knew that waterfall very well. She didn’t want to go there, but she couldn’t refuse either. Biting her lips, she said, "Yes, Mistress."

Sitting on the side, Aegon couldn’t believe his eyes. Not because Liliana was punishing Claire. Quite the opposite actually as he could see she didn’t mean any of it.

She was just teasing and having fun with Claire.

He turned towards Claire and began to see her in a new light. ’She must be very important to her. It’s clear she loves her a lot otherwise she wouldn’t even bother with this.’

But when he saw the defeated expression on Claire’s face, he turned speechless.

’The hell? She thinks Senior is serious?’

"Stop playing with her emotions, Lily. She can’t handle it."
