Chapter 253: Marshall Is Invited

Aegon had to call three times before his call with Samuel was connected. For some reason, there were strange sounds coming from the other side which confused him greatly.

He blinked, "Where are you?"

[Taking a stroll in the park.]

Aegon rolled his eyes but didn’t push for it, "Anyways, can you come back in an hour or so?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

[It’s done?]

"Hell yeah," Aegon grinned. "Come back so we can celebrate together. I’ll also show you everything so we can decide how to move forward from here."

[You want my help on it?]

"Of course," Aegon thought it was obvious. "Who else would support me on this? It’s your Empire."

[Oh, so you do remember I’m an Emperor. I have duties, brat. There are many things I need to do.]

Aegon scratched the back of his head and said, "You’re right. My bad. I mean... it’s your fault."

[How is it my fault?]

"You don’t act like an Emperor so I often forget you are one," Aegon shrugged. "In any case, it’s fine. I won’t bother you on this one since you already helped a lot. I’ll ask the First Prince for this."

[For one, you can just call him Uncle. I’m sure he’ll be thrilled. And why the sudden interest in him?]

"Because he taught my friend," Aegon replied. "Forget about these minor details. We can all discuss it later. For now, it’s the moment to celebrate my grand success."

[Uh huh! I’ll be there soon. Also, I contacted that old bones.]

"You did? What did he say?" Aegon’s eyes brightened up. "When is he coming back?"

He had tried to call Arnold many times but it never went through. He hoped his grandfather was safe in those godforsaken ruins named Nightmare Desert.

[He was mainly asking about you and how everything is going here. He also said his progress is going well there, so we can expect results soon. The truth is very close.]

"So he can’t make it back," Aegon sighed in dejection as he really wanted his grandfather there. "Well, he’s doing something important so we can’t disturb him. Thanks for the news though. I’m relieved and can celebrate without any worries."

[Hmm. I’ll be there soon.]

Aegon disconnected the call and muttered, "And that’s it. All the important people are invited."

"It’s a small list," Liliana said from the side. "I thought you’d invite many."

"I like to keep my circle small," Aegon smiled and said. "I treasure all of these people, so they’re the only ones invited."

"Umm," Liliana wanted to say something, but remained hesitant.

Aegon noticed it and tilted his head, "What is it, Senior? Why are you hesitating so much?"

"I was just wondering if I’m invited too," Liliana looked down and said. "You said you treasure these people."

"Of course you’re invited. What kind of joke is that?" Aegon laughed. "You’re my mentor, not to mention you also helped so much. You also own this in a way."

"No, I don’t," Liliana smiled beautifully at his words and said. "Still, it means a lot to me. Thanks for inviting me."

"You really overthink a lot," Aegon shook his head and turned towards the machine.

He placed it carefully in his storage ring, making sure there was no damage to it since this was the first one he created and it now held a special place in his heart.

Aegon thought for a moment before saying, "You can invite Marshall too. I actually welcome him."

Liliana’s eyes widened in surprise as she uttered, "Are you joking?"

"Why would I joke about something like this, Senior?" Aegon sighed. "Unless, of course, you don’t want him there. I did hear you two divorced so maybe you aren’t on good terms."

"No, it’s not that. Before being a couple, we were friends and that never changed. He’s still the person who understands me the most," Liliana shook her head. "I’m more concerned about you and Xiu."

"I already told you my stance," Aegon said, looking directly into her eyes. "He’s not my father now, but I do respect him for everything he’s done. I respect him as a soldier. Besides, he is Xiu’s brother so he has every right to attend this."

"What about her?"

Aegon smiled, "She’s dying to meet him, talk to him and even fight with him. I can see it in her eyes. Some things are just blocking her way, so I’ll remove those today. I’m sure both of them will be happy to meet their siblings after so long."

"I honestly have no clue if you’re doing this right or not," Liliana sighed. "But if you do succeed in this, you’ll have my gratitude. Art has been lonely and his mental health has only degraded in the last decade. Xiu can cure that loneliness."

"No worries, I’m doing it for myself too, after all," Aegon smiled and said.

"Thanks," Liliana remembered something and asked, "Should I bring Claire too?"

"The one you want to introduce to Hecte?" Aegon asked and upon seeing her nod, he said, "Sure! As long as you can trust her, I don’t mind."

"Then I’ll go and fetch her," Liliana paused. "Where should I meet you? The mansion?"

"Yup. That one."

Liliana nodded in understanding and left.

"Alright, I should get back too," Aegon muttered before exiting the room. "Where is Kai anyway?"

He asked around and soon found Kai meditating near the lake in the lotus position. Aegon went and sat beside him while staring at the scenery before him.

The lake was as tranquil as always, with beautiful scenery to accompany it. Looking at the calm water surface which reflected the mesmerizing Twilight sky, Aegon felt a sense of amazement.

"The man is curious why you’re here, my Goodman."

He broke out of his trance hearing the calm voice of his teacher and turned his head, "I want to take you somewhere. It’s a surprise."

"What if the man wants to refuse?" Kai asked.

"You don’t have that option," Aegon grinned.

"The man has tutored a stubborn student," Kai sighed in distress.

"For sure," Aegon laughed and jumped to his feet. "You’ll have to come for sure as my teacher. I can assure you of one thing, you’ll be proud of me after seeing the surprise."

"The man is already proud of you, my Goodman."
