Chapter 249: Success

House Valeria had some conflicts within, but Aegon wasn’t worried too much about it. Even if they opposed him now, it would end once he became a Supreme.

For one, they were very loyal and since their childhood, loyalty was ingrained in their bones. It was the reason why House Valeria stood strong for thousands of years despite having differences among themselves.

Then, there was also their eternal devotion to the Valerian lineage, especially since they knew things that no one else did. For some reason, they were so loyal to the Valerian lineage that all of them would be ready to give up their lives for Aegon.

So, although he knew they might oppose his relationship now, it would be fine as long as he took the mantle and became their Supreme.

’Those fanatics only care about the Valerian lineage continuing.’

Aegon talked with his girlfriend and mother-in-law for a bit longer before hanging up. They decided to take things slow for now, since they had things to do and they also weren’t sure about Xiu’s standing in all of this.

’Whatever. My date is more important. Two days. That’s all I have.’

He checked the time and realised it was already the morning of the next day. So, he had this whole day and one more.

’That’s good.’

Taking a deep breath, he jumped off his bed and said, "Hecte, I need the ingredients, so gather all of them."

[Just give the orders, Boss.]

Aegon smiled and explained about all the ingredients he needed. Most of them would prove to be useless. He knew it, but he wanted to check everything.

His task was to search through the vast number of materials available to him and find a combination of them in such a way that the rhythm matched with that special Rune.

’Wait! There is no name for it. Let’s call it Trigger for now.’

Grinning from ear to ear, he left the room and decided to focus on his work. There were too many things going on in his head and he needed to put a stop to that, especially to matters related to his grandmother.

That was a forbidden zone that he didn’t want to enter.

Hence, he found the best way to get away from those thoughts. As long as he was doing something, his mind would remain busy away from them.

For the next whole day and night, Aegon dedicated his entire concentration and resources on hand to find the most optimal ingredients needed.

It was as hard as finding a small needle in a haystack for any mundane human.

But he had some advantages like his special eyes. Eyes of Truth and the Eye of Primordial Appraiser helped a lot in this case for him. They allowed him to see and understand the truth of all things and know their properties, which included their rhythm.

This also allowed him to run a simulation in his head to see how their rhythm would react upon collision.

This lessened the time and allowed him to study a large number of ingredients in a very short time. Though, it did put a strain on him for using them for such a long time without any rest.

But thinking of his date with Elara, he persisted and continued on with his work.

His second advantage lay in his capability of getting things. For one, he was rich enough to buy anything he needed and he also had treasuries left behind by his grandmother and grandfather. Not to mention Liliana was there too, and even Xiu had collected many things for him.

So, there was barely anything he couldn’t afford to get.

Lastly, he had a team which could function from any distance and could move things and themselves at an astonishing speed, so he gathered ingredients from all over the Triana Continent in that single day.

Hecte had already scattered the members of Red Viel, so all it took was an order from Aegon before they found the ingredients and transferred them to him through the Shadow Realm.

He still didn’t understand how it worked or how they even used it, considering teleportation wasn’t something just anyone could access.

’Or rather, they can access it, but it’ll be a surprise if they survive.’

Just like that, he continued without any rest and poured everything into the project. For a moment, he even considered whether he would succeed, but he threw cold water on those thoughts and continued.

Fortunately, his efforts paid off the next morning.

"EUREKA!!!!!"

He screamed at the top of his lungs, alerting the whole mansion with his happiness, and then dropped back onto his seat. His eyes burned with dry exhaustion, which was overwhelmed by his happiness.

He laughed out loudly as he stared at the table full of weird materials. Horns, bladders, guts, tree roots of all colours and shapes, metals shimmering under the lighting of the chandelier, and so much more.

Yet, his focus remained on the nine items that stood out the most on it. They were the foundation on which his new empire would be built.

The door of the room snapped open as Xiu barged in while scanning the messy room. "What happened? You shouted so loudly I got scared for a second."

Aegon didn’t say anything. Instead, he just smiled and hugged Xiu tightly. Then, he picked her up and began to spin while laughing wildly. "I succeeded, Xiu. I can now mass-produce the mana batteries and bring a new era to this continent. Now, even mundane people will have a better lifestyle." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Xiu’s eyes instantly brightened as she smiled widely and kissed his forehead. "I knew my baby would succeed. I never doubted you. Congratulations on this great victory, Little Sun."

"Hehe, it was a lot of work, but I found success," Aegon laughed.

"Want to celebrate it?" Xiu asked when he put her down. Then she facepalmed and said, "Why am I even asking? Of course, this needs celebration. You achieved something no one could. I’m so proud of you."

Then, she kissed Aegon’s forehead again and patted his head. "I’m really proud of you. Good work!"

...

Although Xiu wanted to celebrate and Aegon also had an urge to go along with it since he loved the celebrations planned by Xiu, he had to resist the urge for now as he knew the finishing touch remained.

He had found the ingredients, but the actual formation of the machine was still only in theory. He had to bring it into reality and only then could he proudly say he had succeeded.

’But the hard part is out of the way. Now I just need to experiment a little and I’ll make it.’

He calmed down the excited Xiu and convinced her to wait for some time, though it didn’t work at all. Instead, Xiu convinced him that the success was imminent, so she had to prepare for the celebration in advance.

Shaking his head, he left her to her things and went to the Academy where he convinced Kai to give him a room for experiments again. It was a good thing that he had made a good relationship with the Lotus Palace, since he liked to abuse his privileges a lot.

Then, he called Liliana since he hoped she could help him in the experiments. He still planned to finish this before his date, so he could enjoy his time with Elara freely.

Fortunately, Liliana was looking forward to this and worked on her side too. She arrived shortly after and showed him the designs and the prototype she had someone make.

"Woah! You work fast!" He was genuinely impressed by her.

"If you can work this much in one day, then that’s the least I can do," she smiled and said. "It isn’t anything crazy, anyway. We don’t need something like that. As long as it conducts mana and Soul Essence properly, the design is fine."

"Indeed, that’s all that matters," Aegon nodded as he stared at the prototype.

As Liliana said, it wasn’t anything crazy. A solid, flat metal base connected to the ground, and a vertical black pillar rose from its centre. An arm made of unknown material extended with many complications, and at the end of it was a similar but smaller slab.

Liliana went around the metal structure and said, "When the two slabs connect, they will create a small hollow chamber between them. These lines showcase that."

She pointed at the centre and said, "The slab connected to the arm will have patterns of Rune Formations carved on it, so it can directly imprint them using Soul Essence on the Mana Batteries."

She continued to explain as Aegon listened calmly. Although the design itself seemed simple, he quickly recognised its complex nature. There were simply too many functions in it that made up the foundation, and if even one of them was disrupted, the whole machine would fall apart.

’She managed to make this in a single day. Amazing!’
