100 Ways to Solve a Murder-Chapter 70: Murder of the 15th XV
1 hour later, the Criminal Investigation Department
Elle sat in the interrogation room for the second time that week, she turned when the door opened, waltzed in Levi followed by Marco.
Not even sparing her a greeting he said,
"Tell me about Sam Gray,"
Elle scowled noticeably, confused. "What do you mean?" She asked.
Levi grabbed the chair opposite hers, and he sat there, while Marco remained standing in the corner. Levi then raised his long legs on the edge of the table, away from Elle’s face. Marco and Davies mentally shook their heads, he was such a rude dick at times.
"Just tell me something about her schedule. Give me a run on what her usual day is like." The Irishman explained.
"You know what her usual day is like," Elle replied, of course, he does, he spent a lot of time with her in Guy’s.
Levi gestured to the two-way mirror at his right, "Yes, but they don’t." He deadpanned.
Behind the two-way mirror stood Davies, Palmer, Janet, and Clarke, watching the whole scene.
Janet stood between Davies and Palmer, her green hair was in a bun, wearing an Elton John shirt.
"I don’t see why you called us here, Inspector?" She asked, confused.
Davies looked at her and said, "Levi’s idea, he wants to interview everyone close to Dr. Gray." he vaguely explained, but he knew something else was under the psychologist’s sleeves.
A sigh escaped Elle’s lips, she was annoyed when she received a call from Davies inviting her to Criminal Investigation Department an hour ago, saying it was urgent to solve her boss’s case.
She came immediately, in need to know who the suspect could be. And maybe, just maybe, she could lay a punch to his face for her.
Elle sighed and did what he asked,
"Dr. Gray goes to work at 8 AM, takes her Lunch at 1oclock...." She starts.
Levi tapped his hand over the table,
"You missed the tea. Back from the start," he says, earning a glare from her. But he shot her a look that says, ’do what I tell you.’
And she tried again,
"She comes to work at 8 AM, reviews cases for hours. I come to bring her tea and biscuits at 10:30. She returns to work again soon after. She takes her Lunch at 1oclock."
"Does she go out for Lunch?" Levi interrupts.
"Sometimes, rarely. But generally, I bring her food."
"Food that comes from where?"
Elle furrowed her brows, why was Sam’s lunch so important she wondered.
"From a restaurant, she likes, but mostly..." She said
"It’s from a restaurant of your liking. Because you usually eat out, and order take out for her on your way back." She nods in confirmation. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"What time do you usually take Lunch, Elle?" Levi asked.
"Around 12:15."
"How much time does it take for you to eat, order her food, and come back?"
"Around 45minutes," she says.
"No. Exactly 45 minutes," Levi says, giving the people behind the two-way mirror a knowing look.
"Is he insinuating Ms. Hart?" Clarke asked, frowning, not liking what the blond man was doing.
"I think so," Davies answered knowingly.
Janet scowled,
"That can’t be. Everybody knows Ms. Hart adores Dr. Gray. She even makes sure she eats healthy. Reminding her to take a break, and to take it easy. Always." she emphasized.
Levi narrowed his hazel eyes at the brunette,
"Because you have a schedule you follow to the letter. You have planned everything days before, making sure each day runs smoothly. Why?" He asked.
Elle felt the urge to roll her eyes,
"I’m her P.A, that’s what I do," she replied in a duh tone.
Levi leaned back to his chair, rolled his eyes "Yes, we know. You are also her brother’s spy, that she doesn’t know. So, what else have we missed? Oh yes! The OCD! The perfectly pressed dress. Perfectly done makeup, the only time you slipped was when you dropped by and punched me in the face. Nice punch by the way." He ranted on.
"Levi, what are you getting at?" Marco asked, not liking where this was heading.
Elle glared at the Irishman,
"Are you accusing me of being involved in her..." she trailed
’Attempted murder’ was the word she’d use but she stopped herself just in time, and bit her lip. Levi took notice, and he scoffed at her reaction.
"Oh no. You are far too loyal to be consciously involved with anything that may cause her harm. But unintentionally, yes." He revealed.
Elle abruptly stood from her seat, the steel chair scraping against the floor harshly as she looked at him pointedly. Her eyes demanded answers from him. What did he mean, unintentionally?
"What do you mean?!" Her voice rose, demanding.
Levi crossed his arms, looking up at the brunette.
"In 45minutes, is it possible for someone to break into your office, get a copy of her schedule, get hold of information like the security in her house? And remained unnoticed when you came back?" He asked her.
Elle stood dumbfounded.
Levi tore his legs off the table and clapped his hands once loudly,
"Yes! It took me 4minutes to guess your password, boyfriend’s name by the way. You should change that. Burrowed the keys, had it copied, remember?" He said, and Elle recalled.
Levi stood from his chair, looking down at the brunette. "But Sam is spontaneous, Sam goes on a whim; she’s unpredictable if you let her. She’s like wind, moving, working in patterns only she understands." He said, circling the brunette like a predator to prey.
"But you! You are THE PERSONAL ASSISTANT! The woman that schedules everything! Making sure she hit every deadline, be present in every meeting, YOU ARE PREDICTABLE." He spat, then he shot Marco a look, the bearded man nodded in understanding, and he started typing on his mobile.
"That schedule is on your smartphone, synced with your and her computer and her mobile phone!" Levi continued.
Elle looked up at him, there was no way she had anything to do with it, she was certain. She would never do anything that would hurt her. She loved Sam, she was family to her.
"I would have noticed. I usually come and check everything before I leave." She insisted, she did check. She still has those keys, even now inside her purse.
"Yes, of course, you do. Again, OCD. You check it during your ride home, exactly at 9 PM." Levi said.
Elle’s eyes widened, how did he know that? She did take a peek in her purse then, making sure of it as per usual. And she had forgotten all about it after. Elle opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out so she nodded in confirmation instead. She was both amazed and annoyed by his knowledge.
Levi turns to Marco, and Marco sends the text.
