Chapter 1175: Chapter 1170: Familial Rivalries (Part 3)

Aurora Lancaster was rendered speechless by her niece, while beside her, Violet Zimmerman sipped tea, slightly furrowing her brows. Though she didn’t want her son to find a girl from an ordinary family, she definitely wouldn’t agree to a domineering socialite either.

Evangeline’s woman was ridiculed, so naturally, Evander Lancaster wasn’t happy. He pulled Sophia Hamilton back to his side to sit down, casually smoothing her bangs as he said, "Our Sophia wouldn’t dare compare with you. She works nine-to-five just to earn some hard money, unlike you, a young lady who never worries about food or clothing and could almost hire a personal maid just to wipe her for bath time."

Evander Lancaster’s sarcasm was obvious, but Willow Lancaster didn’t seem to catch it. Instead, she crossed her arms, raised her chin proudly, and said, "Of course, being born is a skill. What can I say, I’m just lucky!"

Daemon Lancaster in the single-seater sofa beside frowned with displeasure. His own niece was being mocked like this yet remained oblivious. He put down his teacup and stood up, "I’ll go check things out at home, call me when it’s time to eat!" After speaking, he walked briskly towards the door.

Watching his uncle’s displeased silhouette, Evander Lancaster smirked and raised his eyebrows.

In the living room, Joseph Lancaster was still carrying little Bao, running around. Evander asked his mother, "Mom, where are my older brother and sister-in-law? Why haven’t they come over yet? What about the other siblings?"

"Oh, they’re all lazing around at home," Violet Zimmerman said helplessly. In the past, whenever it was a holiday, the whole family would gather together early in the morning. Now, even though they live in the same courtyard, only those who are closer come over, and during holidays, they only arrive punctually for mealtime.

"That’s good, it’s quieter this way." Evander Lancaster nodded with satisfaction. Those who don’t circulate in business circles aren’t keen on the relatives’ insincere greetings.

"What’s good about it? It’s so quiet during the holidays." Violet Zimmerman said with some grievance, holding her teacup and gazing into a certain spot.

"How can it be quiet? You have little Bao to keep you company," Evander Lancaster nodded towards the grandfather and grandson duo playing in the hall.

Seeing Joseph Lancaster already sweating from exhaustion yet still carrying little Bao around, Violet Zimmerman’s lips unconsciously curved into a smile, her expressions softening considerably.

Noticing his mother’s reaction, Evander Lancaster let out a subtle snort, his handsome face unchanged.

"Evander, quickly tell your aunt, whose daughter is this? Why haven’t I seen her before?"

Aurora Lancaster looked over Violet Zimmerman’s shoulder curiously. Sophia Hamilton’s fresh and cute appearance left her racking her memory in vain for which family’s young lady she might be.

"Aunt, how could you have seen her? Sophia is just an ordinary girl." Evander Lancaster’s face showed helplessness; must they only approve if he finds a reputable lady?

"Tch!" Willow Lancaster crossed her arms with a cold sneer, though watching TV, she was clearly mocking Sophia Hamilton.

Sophia Hamilton hung her head, tightly pressing her lips together. Though Evander Lancaster said she needn’t go out of her way to please anyone, she still hoped his family would like her.

"Ah, I see," Aurora Lancaster sat back down dejectedly, furrowing her brows as she muttered to herself. Suddenly recalling something, she leaned forward again, "Which university did she graduate from? Which company does she work for?"

"Aunt, Sophia works at Moore Corporation as Nathan Moore’s secretary."

"Oh, so she’s Nathan’s secretary? Then she must be quite competent; Nathan is quite particular about who he hires," Aurora Lancaster nodded with satisfaction. Sophia Hamilton felt even more insecure, as her entry into Moore Corporation had been secured by her mother’s bargaining.

Already feeling guilty, Willow Lancaster, seated on the sofa watching TV, grabbed an apple and took a bite, interjecting while her gaze remained fixed on the screen, "Isn’t that easy? With Nathan and Nathan Moore’s connections, being a secretary or even a department manager would earn favor!"
