Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1141 - 1136: The Misunderstanding
In the hospital, Evander Lancaster stood by the doctor’s desk with his hands in the pockets of his casual pants.
His short hair was disheveled, clothes in disarray, with nothing worn inside his zipped cotton jacket and only a thin pair of casual pants on below; his feet were in slippers and his pants’ zipper was undone, but he seemed completely unaware.
Behind the curtain, the doctor was performing an examination on Sophia Hamilton.
Evander lowered his gaze, his thick eyelashes hiding the emotions within.
A few minutes later, the doctor emerged from behind the curtain, removing medical gloves with a smile, "I must say, Dean, you’re a top student of medical university! Have you forgotten even the most basic knowledge?"
"How is it? What’s going on?" Evander lifted his gaze, his handsome face serious, yet he hadn’t quite grasped why the female doctor in the hospital was giving him a hard time.
"What’s going on? Dean, haven’t you ever had a girlfriend or learned about biology?" said the female doctor as she sat down at her desk, looking at him helplessly, "Your girlfriend is on her period, and you forgot about it. You’re not being a very qualified boyfriend!"
Instead of being upset by the teasing from his subordinate, Evander felt a sense of relief.
He turned around and let out a long breath, just as Sophia emerged shyly from behind the curtain, stealing a glance at him, biting her lips and hanging her head, looking embarrassed.
Evander suddenly turned back and sternly said to the female doctor who had been teasing him, "I’m paying you a high salary just so you can mock patients! I’m deducting your monthly bonus and canceling your weekend holiday!"
"Oh, Dean, that’s not fair! I was just speaking the truth!" The female doctor stood up anxiously; she was about the same age as Evander, and he was always amiable, never acting aloof as a boss, so they often joked around—though she hadn’t expected him to flip this time.
Faced with the doctor’s protest, Evander coldly snorted, his expression turning solemn as he retorted, "Speaking the truth? You’ve embarrassed the patient so much, who’s going to come to our hospital for treatment with your way of talking!"
The female doctor...
She glanced at the future madam of the hospital, who was hesitating to come over, and suddenly realized, hastily pleading with a bitter expression.
"Dean, I was wrong, please be magnanimous and forgive me this once."
"No way! Today it’s my woman, but if it were another patient, your mockery would make them unable to smooth things over!"
The female doctor was also sensitive and clever, immediately turning to Sophia Hamilton, joining her hands in a plea.
"Madam, please say something nice, otherwise my bonus..."
Sophia lightly pressed her lips together, discreetly tugged Evander’s cotton jacket sleeve, and whispered, "Let it go, she wasn’t exactly wrong,"
Evander turned his handsome face, his gaze landing on Sophia’s face; as their eyes met, his expression was serious while she shyly avoided eye contact.
"Let it go?" Evander asked, and Sophia nodded, her lips still tightly pressed together, unsure whether it was from embarrassment or concern that Evander might not agree.
Evander raised his handsome face, looking at the female doctor coolly, "Alright then, for my woman’s plea I won’t deduct your bonus, but no weekend off!"
