Hold On Mr.! Your Sweetheart is a Real Queen - Chapter 578: I miss Edward Stephens
There weren’t any housekeepers at home, so Daisy Ginger started finding things to do when she was free, and learned to tidy up the room and prepare vegetables.
After washing the vegetables and coming out of the kitchen, Daisy saw Erin sitting on the sofa, apparently video chatting with someone, and they were laughing and chatting.
Wiping her hands, Daisy walked over to glance at the iPad and met James Shelton’s big face.
"What are you talking about?" Daisy simply sat down next to Erin.
After returning to Banyan City with her, Daisy realized that Erin really liked James; not only did he video chat with James every day, but he also reported to him what they did together and what they ate each day.
This made James so proud that he would boast to her on WeChat, praising Erin as a "well-behaved, thoughtful little sweetie."
Just a short while ago, he complained to her that Erin was a "little ingrate."
"How many days have you not taken Erin out for some drawing?" James started putting on a parental air as soon as he saw her coming over, "Erin told me he’s been cooped up at home and is almost growing mushrooms."
Daisy glanced at Erin and gently tapped his nose with her finger, "Who was it that told me it’s too cold to go outside these days?"
Erin earnestly replied, "It’s because Mommy thinks it’s cold."
James chimed in sarcastically, "Daisy, you’re really regressing, having a little kid consider you!"
"It’s going to snow here in a few days, and you want me to take him out for drawing? Are you trying to freeze us mother and son to death?" As she spoke, the doorbell rang, and Daisy stood up, "Not talking to you anymore, my friends are here. We’re having hotpot today, you can go sip the northwest wind all by yourself!"
Daisy trotted over to the villa to open the main door, while James looked at Erin’s little face, smiled, and asked, "Are you comfortable living with her in Banyan City?"
Erin nodded gently.
"And is she... happy?"
Erin nodded gently again.
James looked down, silent for a moment, then smiled up and said, "As long as she’s happy."
"Dad," Erin suddenly said, "when are you coming over?"
James was touched by this calling, feeling a lump in his throat. This little guy really did grow up with him, nurturing a fondness, and without this little fellow in life, he was quite missed.
"Dad’s busy," James sighed, "when your mom left, she left a whole company mess for me to handle, I’m swamped!"
Erin leaned back on the sofa, holding the iPad seriously, and nodded, "Then when Dad is done, come over to Mommy’s place; there’s delicious drinks and pretty sisters here, and we can also go to the bar in the evening to drink sweet wine."
James’ expression changed, "Huh? Go where?"
"To the bar," Erin licked his lips, remembering the delicious fruit wine given by the pretty sister, "the drinks there are so good."
"Daisy——!!!"
As Daisy opened the door and came back, she heard her ex-husband’s roar coming out of the video.
"Get over here!!"
"Coming, coming," Daisy quickly walked over, took the tablet, "What’s it now?"
"You took Erin to a bar?!"
"Yes, my friend..."
"How could you take such a young child to a bar? Is that a place for kids?!!"
James was almost furious! Is this how a mother should behave? He wouldn’t even bring back a whiff of perfume when he went out to fool around, but look at her; she’s been out for over a month and even hit the bar!
"Zoe," Daisy quickly put down the lamb rolls she brought, hopped over, "who are you chatting with?"
Daisy rubbed her ears, almost experiencing tinnitus from James’ yelling, "Nobody, just a fool." She glanced at James, "I’ll explain later, I need to eat hotpot now. Hanging up."
"How dare you..."
James’ voice cut off abruptly.
"Erin, sweetheart~" Zoe Hilker cheerfully gave Erin a bear hug, "Did you miss sister? I’ve brought you some yummy strawberry wine~"
Zoe’s shop sold strawberry sauce wine with very low alcohol content, less than one percent, practically at juice level, and beloved by people of all ages.
Ethan Pond took off his down jacket, revealing the tank top underneath; the man’s tattoos seemed more numerous than before as he quietly followed Daisy to help prepare the hotpot.
This time, Daisy rented a villa after returning but didn’t hire any help; she preferred doing the housework herself while hiring a cleaner to cook.
"Do you want to hire a housekeeper?"
Helping her with the meat, Ethan asked.
Daisy shook her head, "I want to have some quiet time with Erin."
After years of exhaustion, it was rare to have time to rest and she didn’t want any external interference.
Ethan nodded and said no more, simply helping her set up things quietly.
Soon, the hotpot was ready.
Zoe poured strawberry wine for everyone, Erin also got his small glass, and he sipped it with narrowed eyes.
Zoe watched him, her small face full of smiles, "He looks just like his father did when he was little."
"Not really..." Daisy remarked, "I think he looks a lot like me too."
"No way." Zoe couldn’t stop laughing, "You were so mischievous back then, always climbing trees and raiding birds’ nests, Erin is so well-behaved, clearly not inheriting your character."
"But you haven’t even seen his dad when he was little." Daisy was displeased. The child she painstakingly gave birth to, why should he resemble Edward Stephens.
"Well..." Zoe blinked, "I was just guessing."
What she said as resemblance was naturally to Edward Stephens who grew up with them since childhood.
But Erin’s father is not him.
What she said was inappropriate and mistakenly spoken.
Luckily, Daisy didn’t mind. She was busy putting food on Erin’s plate, her gaze and demeanor soft as she did so.
Ethan didn’t eat much, just quietly sitting opposite Daisy, watching her.
Not seeing her for so many years, he almost thought he’d never have the chance to meet again, yet she returned to Banyan City.
Daisy might not have realized it herself, but she has softened a lot compared to four years ago; the life-induced spines on her have disappeared, and she has become warm, gentle, and, just like before, captivating.
She no longer possesses the blinding radiance that stung people’s eyes, more restrained now, but still so outstandingly unique.
She has become even better.
After feeding Erin, Daisy slowly began to eat her own meal.
The hotpot led to conversations about the last four and a half years, they cleaned up the kitchen together, and then bid each other farewell.
Daisy stood at the door, watching the figures of Ethan and Zoe fade into the night. The warm air behind her was swept away by the cold wind from outside, making her shiver, and she suddenly thought of Edward Stephens again.
Always so inadvertently, thinking of Edward.
After every moment of laughter and solitude.
Having one less person by your side, no matter how much you laugh, still feels lonely.
