His Beloved Treasure - Chapter 1815 - 515: Agreed (Part 2)
Xi Meng said something to her.
Zhang Hongyun looked up at Xi Meng.
"When you bring a boy in front of your leaders, bosses, and colleagues, everyone will think he’s your boyfriend. Even that boy might assume you consider him your boyfriend because you always seek him out, right?"
Xi Meng spoke to Zhang Hongyun again.
Zhang Hongyun...
Zhang Hongyun didn’t bother with Tan Yiwen’s thoughts.
"If you don’t like someone, you shouldn’t call them out. Girls and boys should always maintain boundaries in their interactions."
Xi Meng said a few more words to her and noticed her expression wasn’t good, so she stopped talking.
Sometimes Xi Meng felt that girls of Zhang Hongyun’s age really lacked boundaries, were immature, and without elders around to guide them. But then she suddenly thought, what does it have to do with her?
There are too many people in the world who are immature and lack boundaries to manage. Thinking about those who are sensible compared to Zhang Hongyun, Xi Meng felt this brief colleague relationship warranted less discussion.
"Sister Xi Meng, I understand your point. I will pay attention in the future!"
The coldness in Xi Meng’s eyes made Zhang Hongyun wisely agree immediately.
Xi Meng just smiled but didn’t communicate with her further.
"I have to go out this morning. I’m leaving everything here to you. If there’s anything you’re unsure about handling, make sure to call me promptly, okay?"
After arriving upstairs, Xi Meng reminded Zhang Hongyun while walking inside.
Zhang Hongyun nodded: "Yep! Don’t worry!"
After sitting down, Xi Meng first handled some express shipments, reminded Zhang Hongyun again, then hurriedly left with her bag.
"Mu Yichen, I’ve left the office building!"
Xi Meng called Mu Yichen after leaving the office building.
"Okay!"
Mu Yichen was still in a meeting in the South District at that time. In a not-so-large and not-so-tidy meeting room, there were five or six people, including designers and the site manager.
Mu Yichen continued pointing out details on the drawing sheet after hanging up the phone, while the designer alternated between frowning and drawing according to his requirements.
At noon, Mu Yichen finished the South District duties and returned to the city.
Qiao Yi and Zhao Huai also went to Mu Yichen’s office. When Qiao Yi entered, he tapped on Zhang Hongyun’s desk: "Xiaozhang, three cups of coffee!"
Zhang Hongyun was busy with the work Xi Meng left her. Upon hearing Qiao Yi, she nodded immediately: "Okay Assistant Qiao, right away!"
At that moment, Zhang Hongyun was caught in a tight spot. Xi Meng had left her with too much work before leaving, overwhelming her.
After Qiao Yi entered, Zhang Hongyun got up to prepare coffee. She noticed the dust on Mu Yichen when he came back; although she didn’t know where Mu Yichen had been, she felt he must be very tired, so she hurried to prepare coffee.
But when she brought the coffee back, the three men in the office were all looking grim.
After knocking and entering, Zhang Hongyun noticed the two men on the sofa, causing her to feel tense. Instinctively, she glanced at Mu Yichen. Standing behind his desk, he was facing away, his sharp profile appearing somewhat indifferent.
"Mu Yichen, your coffee!"
Zhang Hongyun unconsciously lowered her voice.
"Mu Yichen just received a call from the Li Family. Our multi-million-dollar deal is about to be signed; why did the Li Family suddenly sign elsewhere?"
"What?"
Upon hearing this from Qiao Yi, Zhang Hongyun was immediately stunned. Recently, she had more involvement with the Li Family than Xi Meng.
"Go call them!"
Qiao Yi suggested further, his countenance resembling a menacing enigma.
Zhang Hongyun turned pale, hurriedly placed the coffee on the coffee table, disregarding Mu Yichen’s expression, lowered her head, and called the Li Family to verify.
"Hello? Is that Sister Zhang? Our company isn’t..."
"Don’t discuss it with me. I’m no longer in charge."
After calling, Zhang Hongyun thought she shared the same surname with the woman on the other end, who seemed approachable. But now, she could barely say a complete sentence before the call ended abruptly.
What does this mean?
"Hello? Hello? Sister Zhang? Sister Zhang?"
Zhang Hongyun suddenly felt like she was being fooled, a crisis quickly escalating to her mind.
"Mu Yichen, I can explain!"
Remembering Mu Yichen mentioned firing her, Zhang Hongyun instinctively turned towards his indifferent back to plead.
"Explain? Young lady, indeed you need to explain properly. You’ve been at the company for quite a while, yet haven’t done anything satisfactory. All of that might be forgivable, but now you’ve lost the client – explain!"
Zhao Huai sat on the sofa, arms crossed, looking helpless and distressed, asking Zhang Hongyun to explain.
From start to finish, Mu Yichen remained silent; it was Xi Meng returning later who, upon not seeing Zhang Hongyun at her workstation, went to Mu Yichen’s office door to knock: "Mu Yichen!"
"Come in!"
Mu Yichen replied indifferently, still leaning by the desk, lowering his head, with no additional words.
Xi Meng opened the door, saw Mu Yichen standing, then glanced at Qiao Yi and Zhao Huai, understanding what had happened.
"Sister Xi Meng, save me! You know I’ve always been committed to my job. Recently, I’ve been working hard to secure the Li Family contract, and they had already agreed with us."
Zhang Hongyun, aggrieved, clutching her phone, looked at Xi Meng, about to cry.
"What do you mean? The Li Family signed with another company?"
Xi Meng urgently questioned Zhang Hongyun, her face paling somewhat.
"Yes!"
Tears immediately fell from Zhang Hongyun’s eyes, yet her voice didn’t dare to be louder. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Xi Meng quickly turned to Qiao Yi: "What happened?"
"It was Mu Yichen who personally called the Li Family to confirm they already signed with CEO Hao, saying they hadn’t seen our sincerity."
Qiao Yi, spreading his hands to his sides, lifelessly explained to Xi Meng.
After hearing this, Xi Meng looked back at Zhang Hongyun: "Weren’t you meeting with Li’s secretary continuously?"
"Yes! But when I called her earlier, she told me not to contact her anymore. I... I don’t know what’s going on!"
Zhang Hongyun’s tears increasingly flowed down.
"How do you conduct yourself? With such an important client, you think you can cover it up with a few words? Explain your recent interactions with Secretary Zhang, why did they say our sincerity wasn’t apparent?"
Xi Meng suddenly flipped, coldly interrogating her.
Zhang Hongyun was completely stunned; this was a task she volunteered for upon joining the company, merely wanting to showcase her skills to impress Mu Yichen sooner. But now, ability wasn’t demonstrated, the business was lost – a multi-million-dollar venture. Zhang Hongyun suddenly panicked intensely, feeling herself almost unable to breathe.
The large office suddenly became freezing cold, leaving Zhang Hongyun feeling her arms might actually frostbite, although the air conditioning temperature was just right.
At this moment, with everyone against her, even if Zhang Hongyun had a reasonable point, she couldn’t articulate it, suddenly crying: "I really don’t know what happened, everything was clearly discussed, Sister Xi Meng, you know when they said to set a signing date, I was on the phone with Secretary Zhang while you were next to me."
"So, did you ever meet face-to-face?"
"Meet face-to-face?"
Zhang Hongyun carefully recollected, they did meet once at the very beginning, but didn’t subsequently, only maintained phone contact.
