Heaven, Earth, Me
Chapter 1570. Helping Du Yanyu.
For Du Yanyu, Kali had always been like a guiding light. To be honest, most, if not all poison masters were not welcomed anywhere. Regardless of their affiliations, morals, or even actions, a Poison Master was a dangerous being feared just for existing.
So, even when some alchemy masters specialized in this path out of curiosity and passion, they would be looked at with wary eyes.
When Du Yanyu was about to feel too marginalized and go to a Demonic Sect, Kali appeared. The woman didn’t just research poisons; she specialized in the most looked-down-upon and frowned-upon specialty among all poisons: parasites.
What confused and intrigued Du Yanyu was that Kali was incredibly open about it. When she asked for ingredients, she said, without changing expression, what she needed. When mocked by others, the fox woman would, in turn, raise an eyebrow and ask if they wanted to taste what they were mocking.
Since even poison masters were careful around parasite specialists, normal alchemists became pale with fear at Kali’s antics, eventually leaving her alone and marginalized.
When that happened, Du Yanyu believed that, like most, the isolation would turn Kali into someone gloomier... but the opposite occurred.
The woman walked around with light steps, her verdant green eyes above her veil spirited and happy. She was truly happy to finally be left alone and practice her interest.
Du Yanyu was immediately attracted to that Kali. So, she got close to her as an elder. After all, back then, Du Yanyu was much stronger in terms of power compared to Kali.
Du Yanyu was not the only one; many others in a similar situation noticed, and eventually, the Ancient Forest Sect made an ultimatum from Leral’s part.
Kali was unaffected and, without even a hint of reluctance, decided to leave the sect. Du Yanyu and many more followed.
After creating the Endless Death Poison Sect, a name to signify the infinite possibilities of poisons, Du Yanyu became the Sect Master for a while and recruited poison masters from all around the world with the promise not to discriminate.
Some hidden experts scoffed, but other more eccentric ones joined to see the fun, expecting a fantastic collapse.
Who would’ve thought that a single individual would become the link for all of them?
Kali, who had increased her strength and proficiency rapidly, became a powerhouse that no one could ignore, and soon, she became the Sect Master by Du Yanyu’s recommendation.
After that, Kali fulfilled her responsibilities by going to several Secret Realms, gaining several treasures, fearlessly fighting other sects without becoming enemies, and raising the Endless Death Poison Sect’s image to be comparable to their past home, the Ancient Forest Sect.
Yet... Du Yanyu’s light was suddenly sealed away by an unexpected bond.
The soaring genius who seemed unstoppable and had methods that made most not dare to antagonize her without a very proper reason, sealed herself away.
From that day on, the Endless Death Poison Sect finally realized how weighty that existence was, and soon, it began declining.
Du Yanyu tried her best. She truly did. However, she could not fit Kali’s previous position. After all, while Du Yanyu was talented and powerful, she was a "normal" poison master. Her methods were scary, but they didn’t cause terror like Kali’s.
On the contrary, since her poisons could be countered by similarly skilled alchemy masters, the perception of the Endless Death Poison Sect changed from a terrifying, man-eating beast to a powerful but huntable predator.
Years passed, and under Leral’s constant harassment, the Endless Death Poison Sect was soon pushed to the brink, with half a step above the abyss.
So, they decided to show their fangs one last time. It was at this moment that Yasenia arrived and, unexpectedly and unknowingly, helped Leral by stopping their fight.
With that interruption, Leral was able to retreat and then gather other heroes to finally defeat the Endless Death Poison Sect.
So, Du Yanyu and the few other masters left glared as their defensive formation was gradually breached, unable to do anything. They were basically waiting for death.
Yet, was it Karma perhaps? Was it a coincidence? That Dragon woman, who looked like a force of nature incarnate and unable to be stopped, reappeared once more.
Wearing a seductive red dress, her long black hair fluttered, and her attractive golden slit eyes looked without a smile, even when her lips were faintly arched.
Du Yanyu looked with confusion until Yasenia opened her alluring lips and said something that stunned her. "I am Yasenia Dravory, Kali Dravory’s wife."
’Wife?’
Du Yanyu could barely believe her ears. She felt that she was under an illusion or something. Yet, the dragon woman, as if playing with her helpless prey, revealed to Leral and the rest about the reason for her attitude back then.
’...No wonder. If I heard my wife had a wild soulmate appear out of nowhere, I would be furious too.’
As Du Yanyu looked, she felt a familiar presence with the scent of nature lingering around her, together with a new, sweet floral scent. "Mistress Kali."
Kali sighed, looking at Du Yanyu with a helpless smile. "Haven’t I told you not to call me that way? I am too young to be called like that!"
Du Yanyu, though, didn’t care. She bowed to Kali and spoke, her voice a bit choked with emotion. "Sorry, many of our disciples, brothers, and sisters have perished. I tried my best, but I couldn’t hold your position for the last twenty years. Only less than 10% of our people remain."
Kali sighed, her eyes showing a trace of sadness. While she had tried not to have too many attachments, as she knew she would eventually leave, many decades of interaction slowly seeped into her heart.
Hearing that many of her disciples and companions had died, Kali’s mood turned somewhat gloomy.
BOOM!
An explosion shook the world, and looking over, Kali saw that Yasenia had slashed with Draheart, creating a massive spatial void before her. Many of the powerhouses that gathered were dealt with that way, leaving just a few injured ones and Leral herself.
Yasenia’s dragon tail flicked gently as she turned around, unleashing a few Celestial Sunders to kill everyone else. Then, with quite relative ease, Yasenia punched a hole in the defensive formation and appeared by Kali’s side with Leral grabbed by the nape.
Du Yanyu was stunned as she looked at the hole in their defensive formation. ’What kind of monster is Mistress Kali’s wife?’
Kali also glanced at the hole with a pained expression. ’That formation was quite expensive...’
Angel and the others descended as well, passing through the hole. Angel spoke to Kali with a frown. "What formation fraud did you hire, Kali? Did you get scammed? This formation is full of loopholes and weaknesses. Look!"
Angel pointed at several places, a white beam of light exploding. Then, the entire formation exploded like crystals, making Kali’s gaze turn blank. "...My money."
Yasenia very much agreed with her Baby, though. "It was weak indeed, even by this layer’s standards. I guess that formation masters in this world are quite weak."
Kali looked at Yasenia and sighed, a smile appearing on her lips. "Whatever, whatever. Let’s leave it as me being scammed."
"Huh? Who dares? Let’s go flatten their sect!"
Kali’s forehead twitched, and her hand stretched, grabbing Yasenia’s tail. "Hauga~!"
Yasenia moaned gently, as her tail was never on guard around her lovers. She turned around with a faint blush. "Why did you grab my tail, Honey? Do you want it?"
Kali’s heart almost burst from the quick pounding, and even Du Yanyu and the rest felt heat pooling in their stomachs. ’B-Blushing so demurely with that face is against the rules! Heaven, smite her! Her beauty is too destructiveee.’
Kali coughed, trying to hide her own blush, and answered with a stern yet soft expression. "Let’s forget about those unimportant people. Just leave Leral here for my sect to have some leverage. That way, the Endless Death Poison Sect might have a chance for survival."
Leral’s heart chilled, and she raised her dull eyes. "...Are you going to use your former master as a hostage?"
Kali looked at Leral and tilted her head, her long fox ears flopping to the side. "Master? Hm... If you considered yourself my master, why would you try to kill me so many times? Leral, my biggest kindness was leaving the Ancient Forest Sect intact despite our conflicts. You didn’t want that, so I have nothing else to offer."
Kali, like Andrea, leaned more toward being a gentle woman. She was not righteous per se, but if you didn’t bother her, she would smile and speak kindly to you. On the other side, Kali could become a terrifying devil when angered.
Leral looked at Kali for a few moments before looking down limply again. A trace of resentment appeared in her heart as she spat through gritted teeth. "...You were just lucky to have someone as monstrous as this creature as your wife."
"That’s right."
Leral paused, and Kali answered with a bright and happy smile. "I am lucky to have her. Without her, I would’ve never been able to become who I am today."
Yasenia, tired of Leral’s provoking nature, threw her toward Du Yanyu. "You are Du Yanyu, right? Kali spoke about you. I’ll give you one week to select those who want to leave with Kali and also set up the next Sect Master. After that, we are leaving."
"Leaving...? Where?"
Yasenia pointed up and smiled. "Naturally, to other Heavenly Layers. Don’t worry, we will guide you to a place where you can develop..." Her golden slit eyes squinted with her smile. "I hope you can survive~."
Kali was then swept away by Yasenia and disappeared. When they left, Kali was bewildered. "Why did you add that last sentence?"
"To test their attitudes toward you. I don’t want opportunistic people to follow you. I want those with strong wills and loyalty. The rest... they can rot away in this world for all I care."
Hearing her words, Kali nodded and smiled. "Alright, we’ll do as you say... So, what are you planning to do during this week?"
Yaenia’s eyes rolled a bit as she answered with a cautious tone. "Treasure hunting..."
Kali was a bit confused when Andrea chuckled. "Oh, we are ’hunting’ treasures, alright. We even know where they are."
Kali was still confused when Evelyn laughed. "I wonder if these treasures hidden in the very hard-to-find treasuries will be worth it."
"...Ah." Kali looked at her lover’s face with a helpless yet loving look. "Are you going to ransack the treasuries of those we just killed?"
Yaseinia replied with a face full of injustice. "Ransack? I am carrying the burden of the dead! So, so much burden!" Her mouth watered. "So much burden that I hope it piles in mountains."
Kali and the others laughed.
