Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill
Chapter 409: Severing an Arm to Survive
The Space Mage Roger deliberately attacked the Illusionist’s Shadow Clone.
It was a feint meant to confuse the Illusionist.
The instant the Void Chain shattered the Shadow Clone, he manipulated the chain to strike at the real position.
The Illusionist was also taken by surprise.
’He never expected his opponent to have already discovered his true location.’
Caught by the sudden attack, the Illusionist couldn’t react in time.
He was almost caught by the Void Chain.
Being caught basically meant the battle was over.
Roger could directly teleport the Illusionist out of the arena.
Leaving the arena meant the challenge had failed.
He would be unable to issue another challenge for twelve hours.
At the critical moment, the Illusionist, McCarthy, split into three.
Three figures appeared simultaneously before Roger.
Roger’s moment of hesitation gave McCarthy an opportunity to escape.
WHOOSH!
The Void Chain passed through McCarthy’s body.
Roger’s expression changed slightly. ’It’s a fake.’
He had made a hurried one-in-three choice, and he had chosen wrong.
Roger thought he had chosen wrong.
In reality, no matter which one he chose, it was both real and fake.
McCarthy could switch positions at will, transforming between illusion and reality.
This was his Extraordinary Trait—True Falsehood.
When combined with Illusion Magic, he could maximize the power of his Extraordinary Trait.
McCarthy’s eyes narrowed as he activated an Illusion Technique—Pupil of Fear.
HUM!
The moment he met McCarthy’s gaze, Roger’s eyes went blank, his pupils dilating.
His limbs trembled lightly, as if he had fallen into a bottomless abyss of fear.
Just as McCarthy was about to act,
he found his own legs had gone weak.
His heart leaped in shock as he suddenly realized what was happening.
The Roger before him had taken on his own appearance.
Roger revealed a smug smile.
"Reflected Mirror Surface!"
The power of the Pupil of Fear had been reflected back onto McCarthy himself.
He had been caught in his own trap.
Roger seized the opportunity, unleashing his Void Chain to wrap around McCarthy’s body.
"Space Teleportation!"
HUM!
With a flash of silver light, McCarthy vanished from his spot.
He reappeared outside the arena.
THUD!
McCarthy landed on the ground, staggering a few steps and nearly collapsing.
He looked up at Roger, his brow furrowed.
The moment he realized he was being controlled by his own Pupil of Fear, McCarthy had already reacted and dispelled the magic.
But it was too late.
He had been teleported outside the arena’s boundaries.
His challenge had failed.
He would not be able to enter the arena to issue another challenge for twelve hours.
McCarthy glanced at Roger, then turned and left.
There was no point in staying any longer; it was better to just leave.
Roger looked at the two remaining people, chuckled, and asked, "Do you two want to challenge me as well?"
The Alchemist glanced at him, then turned and left.
He wasn’t confident he could deal with Roger’s Void Chain.
Going up would just be a waste of time.
Li Wei considered for a moment, then walked toward the arena.
"Oh? I didn’t think anyone else would dare challenge me. You seem pretty confident," Roger said, raising an eyebrow at Li Wei.
Li Wei stepped within the arena’s bounds.
The Magic Array activated, and the Space Lock engaged.
He looked at Roger, and Roger quietly looked back at him.
The two stared at each other for a long moment.
Roger asked, "Aren’t you going to make a move?"
Li Wei smiled and said, "You’re right. I’m the challenger, so it’s only proper that I make the first move."
Roger grinned. "That’s more like it."
Li Wei had already figured out most of Roger’s techniques.
He had seen more or less everything while observing the previous fight.
Li Wei raised his right hand, a Fireball materializing in his palm. He threw the Fireball at Roger.
Roger showed a puzzled expression.
"That’s it?"
He didn’t even bother to put up a defense.
He let the Fireball fly toward him.
BANG!
The Fireball was blocked by an invisible spatial barrier.
Roger’s Space Shield.
He shook his head and said, "Is this your way of testing me? What kind of Mage couldn’t handle a test like this?"
With that, he launched an attack on Li Wei.
"Gravity Reversal!"
Li Wei’s feet suddenly felt light, as if his entire body was about to fly up.
And indeed, he began to float upward.
The direction of gravity in the space around Li Wei had been reversed.
It was extremely disorienting, giving him the sense of being upside down.
Roger seized the opportunity to ensnare Li Wei with his Void Chain.
Teleporting Li Wei out of the arena was the most efficient method.
CLANG CLANG CLANG!
The Void Chain shot toward Li Wei like a nimble snake.
Instead of dodging, Li Wei reached out to grab the Void Chain.
Like a drowning man grasping at his last straw.
Roger looked surprised.
Without hesitation, he controlled the Void Chain to surge forward and wrap tightly around Li Wei’s arm.
"Space Teleportation!"
THWAP!
An arm appeared outside the arena.
Before the arm could hit the ground, it had already dispersed into flames that flew back into the arena.
Roger had a stunned expression on his face.
’Gecko Tail Detachment?’
Li Wei gave a faint smile.
CLANG CLANG CLANG!
The same sound of rattling chains echoed from behind Roger.
Roger was still in a daze and failed to react.
Not until Li Wei’s own Void Chain wrapped around his waist.
Only then did Roger realize he was under attack.
He looked down at the Void Chain coiled around his waist.
Looking back, he saw the end of the Void Chain disappearing into thin air.
He turned to look at Li Wei and saw him gripping the end of the Void Chain with his remaining hand.
Flames flew back, reforming Li Wei’s arm.
Li Wei gave a hard tug.
"Void Imprisonment!"
He activated the power of the Void Chain.
It froze and imprisoned the surrounding space.
The Void Chain dragged Roger rapidly toward Li Wei.
Roger tried to break free from the Void Chain, but unable to use Space Magic, he could only rely on raw Power to fight a tug-of-war with Li Wei.
Obviously, his Power was far inferior to Li Wei’s.
With a light tug from Li Wei, Roger was pulled by an immense force and sent flying directly toward him.
"Flame Serpent!"
Li Wei raised his right arm, now made of fire, and spread his fingers.
His five fingers transformed into five Flame Serpents that shot toward the incoming Roger.
Roger’s reaction was also swift.
After realizing he couldn’t break free from the Void Chain, he knew he had no choice but to meet Li Wei head-on.
He too launched an attack without hesitation.
Meeting offense with offense.
"Dimension Slash!"
The Dimension Slash devoured two of the Flame Serpents.
Li Wei did a backflip, easily dodging the spatial rift created by the Dimension Slash.
He even had time to control the remaining three Flame Serpents to continue their attack on Roger.
Li Wei activated his Nuclear Secret Technique.
The three Flame Serpents suddenly swelled in size, their power increasing by a whole level.
In an instant, the small snakes became giant pythons.
The Flame Serpents slammed into Roger but were blocked by his Space Shield.
The three Flame Serpents coiled around Roger, continuously burning his Space Shield and heating the air.
Even if only one ten-thousandth of the heat penetrated the Space Shield,
it was enough to make Roger feel the surrounding air grow increasingly scorching.
Every breath he took felt scalding.
Roger was horrified. ’Just how high is the temperature of these Flame Serpents?’
He wasn’t an Elemental Mage, let alone a Fire Element Mage.
His resistance to high temperatures was limited.
It was not much stronger than an ordinary person’s.
If this continued, he might be cooked to death inside his own Space Shield.
