Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi
Chapter 266: Alchemy Preparation, The Ringleader
Lights burned all night in Sect Leader Liu Xuan’s residence. It was obvious that everyone was taking the matter of White Jade City very seriously, even feeling a sense of threat.
This threat came not only from the Great Zhou Imperial Family but also from the powers of other Sects. It wasn’t until dawn that these Elders and Hall Masters, all Inner Masters, finally departed, their discussions concluded.
Yang Chan, however, was unaware of all this. As the sun began to rise, he was absorbing the morning’s Purple Qi, beginning his daily cultivation of the Purple Qi Body Cultivation Skill.
After returning to the Sect, he was finally able to get a peaceful night’s sleep, a rare luxury indeed.
Yang Chan hadn’t slept well in White Jade City. He was either staying up all night or only sleeping lightly, and his overall mental state was poor. Even on the road back, despite being in a carriage, he remained on high alert, constantly on guard against any faction that might suddenly appear to target them.
Only upon returning to the Cyan Yuan Sect did he finally begin to relax. After allocating his points last night, Yang Chan fell into a deep sleep, and its quality was naturally superb.
His current, refreshed state was proof enough.
Yang Chan really enjoyed this kind of life. ’This is true tranquility,’ he thought, ’a state of low desire.’
In this state, his desires were few, and his efficiency was at its peak.
Once he finished cultivating his Purple Qi Body Cultivation Skill, Yang Chan headed straight for the Medicine Hall’s Pharmacy. He needed to prepare ingredients for refining Elixirs, and he had to restock them from the Pharmacy.
Before leaving the Cyan Yuan Sect, he had refined a large number of Elixirs to trade for Sect Contribution Points. He used some of those points to exchange for a set of Sharp Weapon Level gear, including a Sharp Sword and Armor, as well as some very effective Hidden Weapons, Poison, and traps. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
The combination of Hidden Weapons and Poison proved most effective. He’d used it to take down two Inner Masters; one he cut down directly with little effort, and he had assisted in dealing with the other.
The traps also performed admirably, thwarting a sneak attack by that unknown faction. It was a very reliable performance.
His Sharp Weapon Level Armor hadn’t been put to the test, but just wearing it provided a certain degree of security.
The Sharp Weapon Level Long Sword, on the other hand, had paired with his Sword Intent to decapitate an enemy in a single strike, producing an excellent result.
In short, the items Yang Chan had exchanged for in the Cyan Yuan Sect before leaving had all played a significant part in his safe return. They were by no means a waste.
After all, in Yang Chan’s mind, his own life was priceless. ’No amount of money can buy that.’
Yang Chan headed straight for the Medicine Hall’s Pharmacy. His remaining Contribution Points were enough to get the ingredients for three types of Elixirs: the Lantian Jade Refining Pill, the First Revolution Nourishing Viscera Pill, and the Cyan Spirit Pill. For now, he only planned on refining these three.
As for the Guiyuan Pill and the Qi Replenishing Pill, he would put those off for later. This was because watching others refine the Cyan Spirit Pill during the Pharmacist Assembly in White Jade City had given him significant insight, making him most confident in his ability to craft that one.
The Lantian Jade Refining Pills and First Revolution Nourishing Viscera Pills were to replenish his personal supply, with a portion set aside for trade. After all, he couldn’t just live off his reserves; he needed to prepare extra to avoid being caught unprepared.
If his refining attempts failed and he was left with no Contribution Points or ingredients, he would be in a very tight spot.
Inside the Medicine Hall’s Pharmacy, Yang Chan saw a familiar Steward. After a brief exchange, he stated the purpose of his visit.
His luck was good. To be precise, he knew the Medicine Hall’s Pharmacy had just received a new shipment of medicinal ingredients, which was why he had come now. He’d gotten this information from Han Bingyu and was taking advantage of the timing to make his exchanges. If he had come any later, the ingredients he needed would likely have already been taken by someone else.
He was still just a Basic Level Pharmacist, so his priority for exchanging ingredients was lower than that of the Intermediate Pharmacists. Yang Chan clearly remembered the actions of Gao Yuanlong and the other Intermediate Pharmacists last time—they had been trying to spite him.
Now that he was back from White Jade City, those people might try to give him trouble again, so it was best to act preemptively. He had no desire to waste time on such people and their petty squabbles; for him, it was completely pointless.
He would much rather spend his time reading books like the *Pharmacopoeia* or practicing his Fist Technique and Swordsmanship. Those were things that were actually helpful to him.
Conversely, getting into squabbles with Gao Yuanlong and his ilk was the most foolish behavior imaginable.
With the help of the Steward at the Medicine Hall’s Pharmacy, Yang Chan exchanged all of his Contribution Points for the ingredients to make the Lantian Jade Refining Pill, the First Revolution Nourishing Viscera Pill, and the Cyan Spirit Pill. The quantity was quite large, encompassing all the materials he planned to use for refining.
The Medicine Hall’s Pharmacy assigned four Servant Disciples to help Yang Chan carry the ingredients to his residence. As he was leaving the Pharmacy, he spotted Gao Yuanlong, who was flanked by two Pharmacist’s Assistants. Clearly, they were also there to exchange for ingredients.
Upon seeing him, Yang Chan simply gave a polite nod and walked away. He had no intention of engaging with the man and offered no opportunity for conversation.
’People like him are shameless,’ Yang Chan thought. ’I don’t want to waste energy feigning civility, only for him to start whining and then begin eyeing the ingredients I’m carrying. It’s best to avoid contact altogether and eliminate the possibility.’
When it came to avoiding trouble, Yang Chan had plenty of experience, and he put it to use with practiced ease.
The group moved quickly, and before long, they had vanished from Gao Yuanlong’s sight. This left Gao Yuanlong, who had been hoping to cause some trouble for Yang Chan or at least taunt him a little, with a sour look on his face.
He was, of course, aware of what had happened in White Jade City and was immensely relieved that he hadn’t gone to participate in the Pharmacist Exchange Conference. Otherwise, he might have been in grave danger as well.
He had heard from Xu Gaocen that all sorts of dangers had befallen those in White Jade City. If not for good luck, he might have ended up buried there.
’Compared to pleasure and prestige, one’s life is obviously more important.’
That was why Gao Yuanlong had intended to mock Yang Chan and make a few gloating remarks to vent his own resentment. After all, he had been the one to lead the charge in vying for the spot at the Pharmacist Exchange Conference, only to be subtly shut down by Elder Hua.
Although no one said anything to his face, he suspected that many people were laughing behind his back, mocking him for overestimating himself.
He was so certain because he had caught wind of such talk. However, since people only whispered about it in private and avoided him, he had no good reason to go looking for trouble.
Besides, in the eyes of many, he had brought it all on himself.
Afterward, the Medicine Hall Master, Gu An, had even sought him out to discuss the matter. The message between the lines was clear: behave himself and stop looking for trouble. Otherwise, Gu An would *find* something for him to do.
There were plenty of missions down the mountain that required a Pharmacist’s support. If Gu An assigned him to one, Gao Yuanlong would have no choice but to obediently go and complete the task.
