Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World
Chapter 134: The Secret to Permanent Dragonification! The Progenitor’s Hit List
"What do we do?" Sylvia asked, glancing at the rising meter.
"There is nothing else to do. Let’s run," Caelus said. "There should be a statue nearby."
Statues of a god named Ullr were scattered throughout the Land of Snow. They healed players and actively decreased the Frostbite meter.
Before sprinting, they swiftly claimed the loot from the last rare treasure chest.
Ding!
[You have obtained: Weapon Card (Rare, 3-Star)]
Both of them received a card. This item allowed the user to instantly generate a specific weapon type. Caelus immediately chose a longsword. Sylvia did the same.
"Give yours to me."
Caelus grabbed the blades. Using his blacksmithing prowess, he swiftly removed the impurities from the silver weapons, forcefully upgrading them to the Epic grade.
Ding!
[You have equipped: Frostbite Longsword (Epic, 3-Star) (Silver I)]
[Effect: When a target is hit, applies Frostbite Damage over Time (DoT). Grants +10 additional DoT damage if you possess a frost-related talent.]
[Combat Score: 12.95 -> 15.95]
They both equipped the exact same weapon.
While his Origin Light set was useful with the burst damage, its durability would instantly hit zero against actual Silver rank monsters.
’This will not do. My low tier creations are practically useless at a higher rank. There must be some way to bypass my current rank and uncap my overall blacksmith level.’
However, now was not the time to think about crafting limits.
PROJECTION FRAME!
Caelus and Sylvia blurred as they ran. They shot through the thick, freezing snow, desperately searching everywhere for a statue.
Ding!
[Frostbite Bar: 99%]
Caelus’s heart beat like a war drum. If it hit 100%, he would die without a doubt and lose everything they had just farmed.
Suddenly, a warm orange light shimmered through the blizzard ahead. A stone statue!
Ding!
[Frostbite Bar: 100%]
Caelus’s expression turned entirely grim.
However, the worst did not happen. The exact instant the bar maxed out, they breached the statue’s radius. A warm, divine light washed over them, forcefully pushing their Frostbite meter back down into the safe zone.
Subsequently, Sylvia’s HP and MP rapidly healed. Caelus’s CA recovered as well.
As soon as the danger passed, Caelus sat cross-legged in the snow and focused inward.
Draconic energy was still wreaking havoc inside him from his forced transformation. If not treated, his HP would never fully recover. He used his Mind Power to forcefully guide the chaotic energy.
Surprisingly, he noticed something new. Inside his body, a complex, circuit-like diagram connected all his organs. That was exactly where the dragon energy was going wild. It was slamming into the walls of the circuits, trying to break out rather than flowing smoothly.
It was like a speeding car locked on a straight highway. Igniting his Chaos Dragon Body had violently shifted the car’s trajectory. Since it could not steer properly, it just kept crashing into the guardrails.
’So this is the true essence of my Chaos Dragon Body.’
Using his Mind Power, he carefully fixed the pathing issue. The draconic energy immediately began flowing smoothly once more.
The next instant, the statue’s healing light fully restored his HP to the brim.
’But where does this draconic energy actually come from?’ Caelus wondered.
To test his theory, he forcefully ignited his latent Chaos Dragon Body again.
The draconic energy inside his body turned into violent sparks. It rippled through his muscles, undergoing a qualitative transformation before completely fading into nothingness.
At the exact same time, the Chaos Ring near his heart trembled. Draconic energy slowly began restoring itself from the ring.
’The ring is what generates the power to make me stronger,’ Caelus realized.
Then, should he not focus on the ring? But how was he supposed to train it?
His normal Aura had also fully restored. Out of pure curiosity, he sent his Aura directly into the Chaos Ring.
Ding!
[The Chaos Ring has received a regenerative boost of 200%.]
The draconic energy began restoring rapidly, much faster than before.
’I just need to circulate Aura within myself and make it touch the ring.’ That made perfect sense.
What if he used his Aura on the newly discovered dragon circuits?
Previously, his Aura just revolved around his main nerves. Now, he forcefully circulated it through the dragon circuits and the Chaos Ring simultaneously.
Ding!
[The cooldown for the Chaos Dragon Body has decreased by 1 hour.]
[Your maximum usage time has permanently increased by a bit.]
[The dragon circuits of your Chaos Dragon Body have widened.]
"Aura is the key to training it," Caelus muttered in realization.
Aura was his path to eventually achieving permanent dragon transformation. For now, circulating it would restore his energy and reduce his cooldowns at 200% efficiency. If he advanced his Aura rank later, the permanent benefits would surely double. He might even be able to push his transformation limit to six minutes in a day or two at most.
"Are you alright, Caelus?" Sylvia asked, crouching down beside him in the snow.
"Yeah. I just figured out how to properly train my Chaos Dragon Body," Caelus said excitedly.
Maybe he really was a genius.
"Good job," Sylvia smiled sweetly, patting his head. "I am glad you did. As a reward, what do you want? A hug or a kiss?"
Caelus looked at her and immediately pounced on her.
"I want you," Caelus said, a small grin forming on his face.
"I want you too," Sylvia whispered, caressing his cold cheek. "I will never, ever let you go."
She then suddenly batted her eyelashes, feigning innocence.
"But Caelus, we are in a public place. Showing so much affection out in the open... Are you going to do naughty things to me right here? I will get too shy."
Caelus clicked his tongue. This little vampire never missed a single chance to tease him.
He stepped back and turned his attention to the glowing statue to check its inscriptions.
While he was completely distracted by the stone figure, Sylvia kept a sweet smile on her face. However, her inner thoughts took a very dark turn.
’That woman, Isolde. I will have to deal with her personally.’
A murderous glint flashed in her bright red eyes, hidden perfectly behind her cheerful smile.
Why were all these women out to kill her man? First Mia, and now Isolde. Were they trying to steal him away by acting murderous? How incredibly rude!
She obviously could not let that happen. The only logical solution was to eliminate every single person who stood between her and Caelus. She had already considered assassinating Sarah from Town 513 at least five times this week, but she simply hadn’t found the time in her busy schedule.
Caelus continued to inspect the statue, completely unaware of the deadly hit list rapidly forming in his girlfriend’s head.
Sylvia watched his back with the most loving expression in the world. Now that their relationship was official, she really had to work extra hard. Being a good girlfriend meant loving him, supporting him, and making sure every other woman in his life accidentally tripped and fell into an active volcano.
