Dungeon Of Greed
Chapter 45: The Goblin Blessed
’Poor soul...’ Shaking his head, Dhruv dug into the runeshard’s skills list and observed the distribution of its stats. The stats and skills appeared ordinary, but one thing immediately stood out to him.
There wasn’t just one type of rune stone the runeshard could possess. There were five types in total.
During summoning, fire has the most chances to appear, followed by water and stone. Goblins with air rune stones were rare, while in extremely rare cases, a monster could even spawn with a lightning rune stone.
For some reason, his hands began to itch, finding an opportunity to gamble like this.
’Should I summon the monster right now...’ Biting his lips, he hovered his hand over the summon option, but in the end, Dhruv managed to calm himself down.
He was going to summon them, but seeing their high cost and their nature of dying rapidly, he only added five of them to his list.
Goblin siegebreaker was something one uses to take down an outpost. Not having much of its use here in the dungeon, Dhruv skipped over it and moved to the warshaman.
[Goblin Warshaman: A little tame compared to the witch doctor, the warshaman wasn’t someone to be taken lightly. He is a monster that fuses battlefield with debilitating hex-totems, cursing entire formations at once. Enemies near it find their limbs sluggish, their courage thin, and their wounds slower to clot. A single one is enough to make one cry in fear.]
Reading the description, Dhruv found this monster really intriguing.
’How would he craft the totem...’ Seeing the dash that was presented in the system, he shakes his head, ’I can’t see them here at least.’
According to my understanding, the totem not being here clearly means that it is not fundamentally part of the monster... if that is the case, then it has to craft it itself or make someone craft it.
But the issue if it is something that needs crafting, it requires material, and how do I know whether the material is in the dungeon at the moment or not? And if the monster can craft the totam... I can use them even when it is not alive anymore.
Collecting his thoughts, Dhruv began pondering over whether it is worth the risk or not.
’Hmm!! It’s really tempting...’ thinking he looked at its 100 dungeon points cost. From this price, he could buy healers, lurkers, and many warriors. A new group can form with the cost it took to summon a single Warshaman.
He was contemplating it when a smirk appeared over his mouth.
’Fuck it... let’s take a risk. Life is the game of risks; there is no thrill otherwise.’ In the end, he decided to bet on his greed.
Not putting any numbers on them, he moved to the next monster.
[Goblin Dreadcaptain: Only after killing a thousand did the monster decide to evolve. The goblins aren’t just monsters; they’re machines that love the carnage and rule through absolute terror. Lesser goblins do not follow it out of loyalty but out of the knowledge that disobeying it is a slower death than anything the enemy offers.]
Why are all of them obsessed with killing their own type...’ Dhruv was thinking when he suddenly felt hypocrisy oozing from himself.
’Heh! What am I talking about... they seem tame compared to humans.’
He was about to ignore the monster first, but seeing its stats, he had to think otherwise. Nodding his head, he put it on his list and moved to the last three of the options.
They were too expensive to provide any real meaning to their summoning, but Dhruv still took a peek in case something caught his attention.
[Goblin Soulreaper: An assassin that does not merely kill, it reaps the soul out of it. Grinding the soul, he eats it and prepares for the next evolution.]
Hmmm!! What a weird description...’ Dhruv couldn’t help but scratch his head reading its description. This was the first time the description had managed to say things clearly and still be vague about them.
The stats are good with okayish skill... ahh! I mean, not great for something costing this much, but there is something more to it.’ Pondering over it, Dhruv was about to bend over to greed, but seeing its price, he quickly clicked on the next description.
[Goblin Worldbreaker: A living siege monster fused with ancient war-magic through means no longer fully understood, including by itself. A beast, both the product of craftsmanship and strength, it can flatten fortresses unaided. If not constantly in war, the monster can barely be controlled even by those who summoned it.]
’Unceasingly dangerous for its own good...’ Giving it a passing remark, he moved to the next option.
[Goblin Queen: The child born on the rare night of a full moon has the chance of becoming a queen. She is a rare and sovereign presence whose worth is not measured in life sustained. She does not fight, and none dares make her. When both a King and Queen preside over the same colony, the goblins can begin their progeny.]
So, this is one of the requirements for birth... I did well not summoning a king. Kings and queens my ass... they are just fucking freeloaders.’ Dhruv rolled his eyes in disdain as he clicked on the last option.
[Goblin Blessed: A goblin touched by one of the divine made him something that loosely resembles what it once was. No two blessed are ever alike. Preaching the teaching of the divine carries a purpose that bends the world slightly around it. Approach only with overwhelming force, and even then, pray.]
’Why are they so expensive...’ Finding no mention of strength in their description, Dhruv was puzzled why this one cost 1500 points.
Thinking he opened its stats, his eyes dazzled in shock as he looked at its vast array of spells.
’Ohh!! So that’s why...’ Wiping the sweat of his head, Dhruv started finalizing the final list.
While he was busy summoning monsters, someone was moving steadily inside the church, preparing for the doom that was about to befall.
