Gabriel Miles took the divorce agreement, glanced at it, and said nothing, his face darkened. đđ§đđŽđđŽđđŁđ¸đđđ.đđđ
"Miss Shaw, please sign." The lawyer said calmly.
"I will not sign this divorce agreement." Eleanor Shaw said angrily.
"Miss Shaw, Mr. Miles said, if you donât sign, donât blame him for showing no mercy."
The lawyer repeated Hunter Milesâs original words.
Eleanor Shawâs breathing hitched, glaring angrily at the lawyer without speaking.
No need to spell it out, she knew what Hunter Miles meant.
If she didnât sign this divorce agreement, then her affair with Gabriel Miles would become public knowledge.
"You go back first, let me think about it,"
Eleanor Shaw suppressed her inner anger and spoke.
The lawyer glanced at her, said "wait a moment," and went outside to call Hunter Miles.
"Mr. Miles, Miss Shaw said she needs to consider whether to sign this divorce agreement."
Hunter Miles on the other end of the phone snorted coldly, "Tell her Iâll give her two days to think. Iâll be waiting at the civil affairs bureau on Monday. If she doesnât show, then everyone will be watching the show."
After hearing this, the lawyer turned back into the room, relayed the message to Eleanor Shaw, and left the divorce agreement behind as he departed.
Eleanor Shawâs face was extremely grim, she wanted to rip the divorce agreement apart.
"That heartless Hunter Miles, Iâve been with him for so many years, and he wants me to leave with nothing, even taking back the shares he gifted! Has he forgotten who managed the Miles family for him? Who served him meticulously? Just because I made one mistake, does he deny my contributions completely? Even taking back the shares of the Grant Family, who is he giving them to? Elara Don?"
Eleanor Shaw yelled out loud, venting her inner resentment.
She used some cunning back then to make Hunter Miles marry her, but ended up with nothing in middle age!
How could she be willing?
Itâs all because of that damned Lina Quinn!
Why canât she rest in peace even after death!
"Does Hunter Miles know Elara Don is his daughter now?"
Gabriel Miles picked up the divorce agreement from the floor and asked calmly.
"I donât know! Maybe soon he will!"
Eleanor Shaw said irritably, "Hunter Miles isnât stupid, the reason I could fool him all these years was because he trusted me."
"Now that he knows Samantha isnât his daughter, heâll surely connect the dots to the past. Back then, he thought the one he slept with was me, thatâs why he married me under all that pressure."
"But now, if he thinks back carefully, he will definitely realize, maybe it was Lina Quinn he slept with. And if Elara Don is Lina Quinnâs daughter, heâll certainly suspect whether Elara Donâs biological father is himself."
"If he does a genetic comparison, the result would be obvious."
Thinking of the past, a trace of jealousy flashed in Eleanor Shawâs eyes.
Back then, Lina Quinn was just a small clerk, how did he catch Hunter Milesâs eye?
The two secretly dated, and Hunter Miles really wanted Lina Quinn to be Mrs. Grant.
But Hunter Milesâs mother favored her, and she, a prestigious actress, also favored Hunter Miles.
So, she found an opportunity to tell Hunter Milesâs mother that Lina Quinn was overreaching, seducing Hunter Miles.
Hunter Milesâs mother certainly wouldnât let someone with no background like Lina Quinn marry her son, so she went to Lina Quinn and bitterly mocked her.
Though Lina Quinn came from humble beginnings, she had pride.
But after Hunter Milesâs mother approached her, she did not break up with Hunter Miles.
And she kept observing, until she found a chance when Hunter Miles had drank too much and been with Lina Quinn, and she found an excuse to have Lina Quinn transferred to work out-of-town overnight while she sneaked into Hunter Milesâs room and lay beside him.
When Hunter Miles woke, he thought the person he slept with was her and was very upset.
Seizing the moment, she called for Hunter Milesâs mother, thus forcing Hunter Miles to marry her.
When Lina Quinn found out that Hunter Miles was getting engaged to her, she was very angry.
So she spoke to Lina Quinn once.
She told Lina Quinn that even if she married Hunter Miles, given his status as an award-winning actor, beautiful women would be abundant around him. Was she sure sheâd be able to handle it?
Furthermore, their statuses were vastly different, the Miles family wasnât only about Hunter Miles.
If Hunter Miles genuinely wanted to marry her, a commoner, given his motherâs strong personality, maybe the family would cut ties with Hunter Miles.
Lina Quinn must have loved Hunter Miles deeply, yet she also had pride.
And so she broke up with Hunter Miles.
As she wished, she married Hunter Miles.
She felt accomplished because she got all she wanted.
Hunter Miles was modest and easy to control.
She confidently sat as Mrs. Grant and secretly sought thrills with Gabriel Miles.
Clearly she was the winner in life, so why did Lina Quinn have Hunter Milesâs child!
Why did she have to discover her affair with Gabriel Miles?
If it werenât for Lina Quinn, she wouldnât have had someone run her over.
This secret wouldnât have been exposed one day either!
Then she would have remained as Mrs. Grant forever.
This was all Lina Quinnâs fault!
Eleanor Shawâs face turned monstrous.
"Eleanor, if you want to preserve your current life, itâs not impossible."
Gabriel Miles brewed a pot of tea and interrupted Eleanor Shawâs recollections.
Eleanor Shaw came back to herself, "Luke, how can you possibly make sure my life isnât affected at this point?"
"Make Hunter Miles die."
Gabriel Miles took a sip of tea, a chilling glint flashed in his eyes, diffused with the steam.
Eleanor Shaw was shocked, staring at him blankly, "Make him die?"
"Yes, only if he dies will everything return to its place. You will still be the glamorous Mrs. Grant, not a rejected woman. The shares of Grant Family in your hands will remain, nothing changes."
Gabriel Miles looked at Eleanor Shaw, his gaze burning.
Eleanor Shaw sat on the sofa, momentarily speechless.
Slowly, Gabriel Miles set down his teacup, picked up the teapot to refill his cup, enveloped in a shroud of shadow.
"What? Canât bear to let him die? Donât forget, if he doesnât die, youâll leave with nothing, you can stomach that?"
Eleanor Shaw returned to herself, inhaled a deep breath, and said, "How could I? Luke, when he had his attack, I actually wanted him to die from a sudden heart attack. If it werenât for Evan Ford suddenly returning, weâd be having his funeral now."
Even if she did love him, all these years had become bland as water.
Moreover, sheâs harbored resentment all along.
Because she knows she isnât Hunter Milesâs most beloved woman.
After all these years, they only maintained a courteous relationship.
With such a man threatening to destroy everything she possessed, what was worth nostalgia?
"Good then, Hunter Miles is in the hospital now, right? Iâll have someone take care of this matter, you just wait."
Gabriel Miles heard Eleanor Shawâs words, smiled slightly, sat beside her, and offered her a cup of tea.
Eleanor Shaw took the teacup, looked at Gabriel Milesâs well-maintained face, and suddenly felt an impulse.
She wanted to be openly with him.
"Luke, if Hunter Miles dies, then we..."
"Mrs. Grant, why donât you come in?"
A service staffâs voice suddenly sounded at the door.
Eleanor Shawâs voice abruptly stopped, her expression changed instantly.
Mrs. Grant!
Iris Nash, Gabriel Milesâs legitimate wife, had arrived!
