Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts - Chapter 363 - 152: The Jumping Clown (Part 3)_1
The battle was intense.
The fight of the three super powerful experts had the entire military headquarters building continuously shaking and trembling.
Fortunately, due to an unknown defense mechanism, the military headquarters building was still intact for now.
Moreover, around Lin Haifeng’s body, an additional unknown defensive force allowed Lin Haifeng to leisurely sip tea while being so close to the battlefield.
This old fox, Lin Haifeng, would never entrust his safety to others.
Sequence Number 5, Yang Pengguang, was in the late stage of Level 4. He had gained much in the outpost treasure land, and all of his gains had been fully digested and transformed into strength.
While Fang Bai’s power was slightly weaker, he was a super powerful expert cultivated by the military itself, and his skill set was excellent. Even one-on-one, Yang Pengguang would not be able to quickly defeat Fang Bai.
Not to mention Qin Min.
The frightening power unleashed by Qin Min even drew side glances from both Yang Pengguang and Fang Bai.
Sequence Number 7—Qin Min, Peak Level 4 strength!
...
Sequence Numbers 5 and 7, their sequence numbers were not far apart.
However, having an earlier sequence number did not indicate greater strength. In fact, even Wen Yu was unclear about what the sequence actually represented.
Potential? Strength? Or some unknown factor? Probably only the Dominator could provide an answer.
But one thing was sure to the watching Lin Haifeng!
Qin Min was stronger than Yang Pengguang!
Merely in physical prowess, Qin Min was far superior to Yang Pengguang. Coupled with his skills being no less proficient than Yang Pengguang’s, when Qin Min entered the fray, the battle situation immediately became clear.
Under the joint attack of Fang Bai and Qin Min, Yang Pengguang switched from initially trying to complete the mission on his own and eliminate Lin Haifeng, to now maneuvering in every direction, wanting to leave the room.
Unfortunately, it was now too late.
...
A hand picked up the teacup next to Lin Haifeng and began to savor it.
Then, Sequence Number 1 frowned.
"It’s cold."
"Just drink it. I can’t make any big moves right now. If I do, my skill state will be broken. They might even tear this building down!"
"I understand."
Sequence Number 1 frowned but still finished the tea in his hand.
Seeing the deliberately aloof stance of Sequence Number 1, who was standing by his side, Lin Haifeng found this guy somewhat interesting.
The two had not been in contact for long, and communication had mostly been conducted through communicators, so Lin Haifeng’s understanding of Sequence Number 1 was naturally insufficient.
But from today’s interaction, Sequence Number 1 was not as cold and arrogant as he had sounded over the communicator.
Or perhaps, his cold arrogance was just a defense mechanism against others. Hidden beneath that facade was a personality that followed his heart and desires.
Quite an interesting guy.
Lin Haifeng quietly mused, then asked, "Have you dealt with the problem?"
"Yes."
Hearing Sequence Number 1’s answer, Lin Haifeng knew that the Demon Worship Sect incident had essentially been resolved.
"Then I’ll need you to take action," Lin Haifeng said to Sequence Number 1, looking at Yang Pengguang, who was increasingly at a disadvantage but still "standing resolutely."
Then, an eerie energy fluctuation filled the entire office.
"Hold!"
With a thunderous cry from Sequence Number 1, Yang Pengguang, who was resisting Qin Min’s attack, suddenly stiffened. He stood stupefied, unmoving, allowing Qin Min’s fist to smash a bloody, mangled hole into his body.
Seeing this, Lin Haifeng’s eyes flashed with amazement.
Although he had long witnessed Sequence Number 1’s abilities, each time he saw this power akin to "command follows words," Lin Haifeng was still moved.
Seeing Sequence Number 1 take action, Qin Min immediately halted his movements. He also pulled back Fang Bai, who still wanted to continue the attack, and they quickly retreated to Lin Haifeng’s side.
"We need him alive, right?" Sequence Number 1 asked calmly, as if capturing Yang Pengguang alive was a trivial matter.
"That’s right."
Having received Lin Haifeng’s reply, Sequence Number 1 opened his mouth once again.
"Shatter!"
As soon as the word ’Shatter’ fell, a series of CRACKS emanated from the body of Yang Pengguang, who was frozen in place. Then, like a pile of soft mud, he collapsed to the ground, utterly immobile.
"Mission accomplished."
Beneath Sequence Number 1’s seemingly aloof exterior, Lin Haifeng detected a hint of a boastful tone. He remained silent for a long moment before finally saying, "Thank you..."
...
Yang Pengguang was dragged before Lin Haifeng like a dead dog.
The pain from his shattered bones made Yang Pengguang tremble uncontrollably, fresh blood flowing from his mouth. Yet, he clenched his teeth and remained silent.
Looking at Yang Pengguang, paralyzed on the ground, Lin Haifeng sighed.
"Join me. I can give you the status you deserve, instead of having you hide in the sewers like a rat, enduring the scorn of the Human Race."
Yet, Yang Pengguang showed no reaction.
"Peng Jun is dead."
Upon hearing this, Yang Pengguang barely managed to raise his head. He looked into Lin Haifeng’s eyes, his own seemingly devoid of all vitality, and mumbled, unable to form coherent words.
"Join the military. What happened just now can be completely expunged. The military needs your strength, Cathay needs your strength, and this world needs your strength too."
Hearing Lin Haifeng’s words, Yang Pengguang let out a faint sigh and mumbled, "General Peng saved me three times. All the power I have now was given to me by General Peng. Although I never wanted to be a traitor to humanity, a debt of gratitude must be repaid. I don’t know if what you said about General Peng being dead is true or false, but I... haven’t lost yet."
Yang Pengguang’s words were unclear, but his increasingly frenzied gaze put Fang Bai and Qin Min, standing nearby, on alert.
It was clear that Yang Pengguang, or rather Peng Jun, had other hidden measures.
The next second, Yang Pengguang suddenly spurted out a mouthful of fresh blood. His aura grew weaker and weaker, and in no time at all, he collapsed on the ground, unmoving.
He had committed suicide. And then...
...
BOOM!
A violent explosion resounded from outside the Yanjing Assembly Site. A huge mushroom cloud shot up into the sky. Unfortunately, it was too far from the Yanjing Assembly Site. Let alone harming Lin Haifeng, the shockwave did not even reach the outer walls of the Yanjing Assembly Site before it dissipated completely.
"That packed some punch," Sequence Number 1 pouted, mumbling.
Lin Haifeng nodded in agreement. "If that had exploded under my feet, I would’ve been dead. But thankfully..."
"Thankfully, I’m here, right? You’re welcome," Sequence Number 1 interjected before Lin Haifeng could finish.
COUGH, COUGH.
Lin Haifeng coughed pointedly.
"Actually, I wanted to say, thankfully the entire Yanjing Assembly Site is within my perception range. That’s how I was able to detect the bomb they had placed in the basement in advance... But still, thank you."
"..."
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
The knocking on the door broke the awkward atmosphere. A tall figure then opened the door and walked in, carrying a small box.
"Captain, Commander Lin."
Zhang Ziping greeted Lin Haifeng and Sequence Number 1 before placing the small box on the ground.
"I’ve found the person who planted the bomb. Here’s his head."
"Thank you."
Lin Haifeng nodded at Zhang Ziping with a smile.
