Apocalypse Lord
Chapter 227 - 158: Victory to the Ark! (Part 2)
Coincidentally, the horizon brightened, and the morning sun rose at this moment, casting a layer of light over the gray-haired boy’s hair and shoulders.
"Citizens of the Ark Kingdom! The arrogant Alliance Legion has hit a hard wall, and Commander Horn has already paid the ultimate price for his sins!"
A strong and powerful voice echoed in everyone’s ears.
"We have proven to the world that the Ark People are not to be messed with! Our warriors have defeated the greedy jackals with absolute strength!"
The Ark Leader did not speak to the people about ideals and future aspirations, nor did he use the victory to shape his own image.
Instead, he straightforwardly narrated the facts that unfolded before the people’s eyes.
This was enough.
"I declare—"
Lin Lan slowly raised his fist: "The Ark Kingdom has won again, and it is an overwhelming victory!"
The next second, a wave of cheers erupted from the coastline like a tsunami!
"Long live the Ark! Long live the Ark! Long live the Ark!!"
The Sun Warriors and hundreds of Ark militia simultaneously slammed their right fists towards their hearts. The cheers spread like wildfire, reaching the city illuminated by the morning light.
"Long live Lord Lin Lan! Long live Lord Lin Lan!"
"What the Ark Newspaper said is indeed true. I knew those greedy guys wouldn’t meet a good end!"
"Does this mean we will never have to worry about going hungry again? That’s great!"
The exhilarating emotion spread to every corner of Seagull City with the wind.
Although the people of Seagull City hadn’t slept all night, the gloom hanging over their hearts had entirely dissipated.
No one wants anything but to have a good life in the future.
However, a few among the crowd still had sour expressions.
Three Alliance journalists looked as though they were mourning, surrounded by several Golden Armored Warriors holding Ash Soil Giant Swords. They trembled as they held their alchemy cameras, capturing everything at the docks.
"Make sure the shots look good."
Centurion Glen patted one of the journalist’s shoulders: "Once we clean up the battlefield, you can leave behind the photos and cameras and go."
Compared to the two-meter-tall Sun Warriors, these journalists looked like frail little chicks.
A man resembling a skinny monkey shivered from being patted.
"Sir... Sir... Are you really willing to let us go?" he asked, trembling.
"Since you haven’t violated the current laws of the Ark, we will certainly let you go back."
Glen looked at the journalist coldly: "Though I know you lot enjoy twisting facts to smear others, the Ark Kingdom’s laws are not yet perfect in terms of the news, so you’re lucky that only your cameras have been confiscated."
"In fact, when you go back, you could fully describe our image as more terrifying."
Another Decurion joined the conversation, smiling cheerfully.
"How could that be? We always respect mighty and brave warriors! How could we defame you?"
The skinny monkey journalist quickly bowed, nodding incessantly while forcing a hard-to-look-at ingratiating smile: "I always believe King Linlan is supreme!"
The Ark Warriors immediately burst into laughter; one must admit, these Alliance journalists indeed had a knack for amusing people.
"Dear sirs..."
Then, a journalist cautiously inquired: "Does Mr. Ford, our chief editor, also have a chance to go back?"
"You mean the guy who disguised himself with his collection, tried every trick to bypass guards, and sneakily photographed the Ark Kingdom’s core factories?"
Glen snorted: "He’ll still have to stay confined."
The skinny monkey journalist swallowed hard: "But didn’t you say the Ark laws—"
With a clang.
Glen took a step forward, forcefully stabbing the Ash Soil Giant Sword into the ground in front of the journalist, its warm bloodstains still undried.
"You should be able to distinguish ’intelligence’ from ’news,’ should you not?"
He leaned down, narrowing his eyes: "What? Do you have opinions on Lord Lin Lan’s methods?"
"No, no, no, absolutely not!!"
The journalist from White Oak jumped up immediately, clapping hard: "I mean to say it’s well confined! Just perfect!!!"
·
Watching as the crowds went lively on the shore, Lin Lan breathed a sigh of relief.
This battle was indeed beautifully fought; the Sun Legion had no casualties except for a few warriors newly acquainted with second-generation armors who got burned on their chests by the fully powered furnace.
He turned back, the corpses of the hellhounds faded in the morning light, their dark flames shattered in the beams, exposing young and twisted faces.
Lin Lan had originally intended to present Horn’s entire corpse to the people.
Unfortunately, the moment his heart exploded, the deep flames engulfed the Silver Wing Commander’s body from inside out, leaving only a pair of dull red horns.
One must admit, the Alliance Commander was indeed a character.
Until the moment of his dissolution, this demon felt no remorse for his greed.
Lin Lan did not have a bizarre habit of collecting body parts, so he casually tossed those horns into the sea.
At that moment, a dozen Sun Warriors were vigorously ’rescuing’ the disassembled Alliance flagship.
Horn’s flagship was virtually piled with luxury items Lin Lan couldn’t recognize, but he was uninterested in this useless junk, preferring the materials used to build the ship.
Ansel pulled on the heavy sunken ship hull, countless crystalline fragments were meticulously salvaged by the warriors.
Lin Lan nodded with satisfaction.
This was a real profit! 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Not far away, Ed stood beside Jay, seemingly admonishing him patiently.
With Horn’s death, Ed thoroughly unraveled his heart, his tone much gentler than before.
"I noticed quite a few new recruits have gotten carried away, Jay."
The devil instructor habitually maintained a stern face: "You must ensure your warriors remember that while we’ve achieved some results, the complacency following victory is even more worth our vigilance."
"Rest assured, Lord Ed."
This time, Jay didn’t instinctively avoid his superior’s gaze, speaking solemnly: "The warriors’ training certainly won’t be neglected; from today on, I will also train new Sun Warriors in a stricter manner."
Only through battles of life and death can the warriors truly appreciate the importance of mine shaft training.
"Very good." Ed nodded, a hint of comfort appearing in his eyes.
Through repeated practical exercises, these young men have finally been molded into resilient and excellent warriors.
"Can we go back now?"
Eleanor lazily yawned, looked at Lin Lan, and upon his nod, she adeptly grabbed the boy’s hand, flapped her black wings, and in a blink, they were on land.
Charles had long awaited them at the shore, his face blooming with smiles, as if already seeing piles and piles of resources being loaded onto ships headed for the Ark.
"Actually, there was no need for you to personally come and dirty your hands. Wait... this smell..."
He moved his nose, eyes brightened: "Did you find ’Twilight Blood’ on Horn’s ship?"
"No." Lin Lan spread his hands: "Horn had already squandered it all."
"Ah... what a pity..."
Charles smacked his lips: "I’ve always wanted to taste what the thousand Bright Gold Coins’ spirits are like..."
"By the way, where’s Lucia?"
Lin Lan looked around; logically, that petite blond Witch should have come running by now.
"Lin Lan~ I’m here~"
A head popped up from the edge of the Alliance Battleship, the girl waving her arms, displaying a super cheerful smile: "Come over quickly, I’ve found some really interesting little things!"
Although the docks at Seagull Port were destroyed again, the Ark Kingdom gained three entire Alliance Battleships!
"It truly feels hopeful to mix in with the Ark Kingdom..."
Beside him, the Pirate Leader also had bright eyes: "Randomly making a big profit here is much better than robbing those poor pirate bastards!"
