Chapter 23: A Sword of Shattered Stars.

With a wide smile on my face, I willed myself to exit the space.

The soul of the founder was long gone after the deal we just made, becoming dormant once again within that unassuming stone he used as a medium, but his status window remained visible before me as I had used the [[Insight]] talent on him.

The talent was still new and, honestly, even if it was useful, I was still getting used to it, so sometimes I forgot to use it. But nonetheless, I was slowly getting used to it now.

════〔 STATUS 〕═════

▸ NAME: ⟦ Rian Runbringer ⟧

▸ TALENT: ⟦ 1. Lucky Failure 2. Reincarnation ⟧

▸ Core: ⟦ Tier I Transcendent ⟧

▸ Note : ⟦ A genius storyteller born a coward, yet possessing the grit of a survivor and luck of heavens, his life was cut short by an unforeseen tragedy. At the end of his life, he embraced a curse never meant to be touched by humans. Becoming a reincarnator, he now seeks revenge against those who wronged him. Befriending someone like him is wiser because his cowardice grants him an exceptional sense for danger and given your pitiful physique, it would be wise to stay close to someone who knows when to run.⟧

Naturally, I ignored the last remark. By this point, I was fairly certain that, although the talent had been copied from Aurelion, its personality had adapted to my own soul, as all talents were linked to the soul.

Which explained why it seemed to enjoy roasting me.

Still, a frown appeared on my face as my body turned into dots of light before vanishing from the endless expanse of white, my mind focused on something far more important.

So, he did get the talent of reincarnation, but how? Were such broken talents really so easy to obtain?

I couldn’t help but wonder.

I had always considered my reincarnation into this world a miracle and my one-time regression a cheat granted to me... but now the world was showing me a guy who had obtained a talent far more broken than mine through some artifact?

Yeah, like hell I would believe that.

Especially since I knew that narcissistic Goddess wouldn’t hand out something this overwhelmingly good merely for unifying a few races.

She was too stingy for that.

Not to mention, what was the curse the note mentioned? Was it referring to the talent of reincarnation or something else entirely?

My eyes narrowed naturally.

Something was definitely shady and it seemed that even the founder didn’t know the truth either.

But before I could waste any more brain power onto this matter, my body arrived back in the treasury hall from where I had left.

In my hand was the hilt of the sword, its blades still scattered across the platform just as broken as before.

I shrugged off the useless thoughts conjured by my chaotic mind and looked at the hilt of my sword while activating my [[Insight]] talent. Immediately, its status window appeared before me in response.

════〔 STATUS 〕═════

▸ NAME: ⟦ — ⟧

▸ Type: ⟦ Soulbound Demonic Sword ⟧

▸ Core Trait: ⟦ Living Weapon — The sword becomes extension of your body. ⟧

▸ Secondary Traits : ⟦ Resonance (A), Dimensional Treasury (S), Absolute Recall (S), Spatial Shift (D) ⟧

▸ Note: ⟦ A sword forged from an unknown metal discovered within a meteor that fell from the vastness of space. Should its wielder lack a strong enough will, the sword may devour their very soul. It craves the blood of enemies, all the more so after serving a master who never once drew it in battle. The blade similar to you is in a pitiful and broken condition, making it a perfect weapon for you.⟧

▸ Current Master : ⟦ Zenith Von Runbringer

Seeing the status window of an artifact was nearly impossible without an Appraisal Talent or artifact.

Fortunately, [[Insight]] spared me from wasting millions of Palova on those overpriced scams again because most of them couldn’t even analyze high-level artifacts.

I had to waste months experimenting with artifacts just to learn their features in my last life.

Shrugging away the frustration from my previous life, I swiftly checked the details.

The abilities were the same and self explanatory as in my previous life.

I also noticed how the system had changed my name from Ruinbringer to Runbringer but that was to be expected since it recognized names based on one’s perception.

And knowing the real history, thinking of myself as a Ruinbringer was kind of difficult to do now.

The name of the sword, however, was empty since I hadn’t named it yet.

So, without any further hesitation, I raised its hilt into the air and pushed a small amount of my vector mana through it.

The fragments of its blade immediately began to vibrate before flying into the air and gathering above the hilt.

They did not reconnect and instead, hundreds of white shards arranged themselves into the shape of a blade, each fragment floating a hair’s breadth apart as my Vector mana pulled their trajectories toward one another.

From afar, it looked like a complete sword but up close, however, it was nothing more than countless floating pieces pretending to be one.

"Kosetsu!"

I declared as the blade vibrated in response, accepting the name I had given it as a small star mark appeared on the back of my palm.

The Living Weapon effect made the sword an extension of myself while Resonance infused every fragment with my affinity automatically without any mana cost.

Had I possessed a fire affinity, the blade would have burned endlessly but instead, my Vector affinity constantly pulled the fragments together, making it seem like the sword’s power rather than mine.

In a way, this broken sword was the only thing capable of enduring my vector mana since most other weapons shattered under its force.

Though after meeting the founder, I couldn’t help but wonder.

How the hell was this blade broken if that guy hadn’t even used it once?

Just as I was busy admiring it, the sound of something shattering came from behind me.

I turned around only to see a snail floating through the air, carrying an empty saucer. The cup it had been holding had fallen to the ground, spilling bright orange liquid all over the floor.

"H-how...?" the snail stammered. "How is that possible?"

"How could you tame my master’s sword?"
