"Never managed to hatch it?" Lin Fan slowly repeated before turning back to look at the egg.

But thinking about it, it did make sense.

If the female elder had been able to hatch this egg, was there a reason that she would have kept it in this form all this time?

If she could have hatched this thing, she would have already hatched it a long time ago.

Even an elder of the Dao Sect was helpless when trying to hatch this egg, so it really didn’t seem like it would be an easy thing to do.

Lin Fan couldn’t stop the bitter smile from appearing on his face.

If there was one thing that his system was known for, it was the terrible timing that it had.

When he didn’t want it showing him something like this, it had suddenly activated itself and was already writing down the method for him. From what he could see, he could already tell that this wasn’t a simple method and the worst part was that it was still going.

There were lines and lines of text that were appearing in front of him as the system kept writing out the method for him.

Just a quick glance told him how complicated and convoluted this entire thing was.

But then again, it wasn’t as if hatching a dragon with a true bloodline would have been easy in the first place. If there wasn’t a parent here, then it would certainly be hard to simulate the hatching conditions with other things.

With his bit of knowledge, Lin Fan could tell that this was the case with the method that the system proposed.

"What is it? Did you think of something?" The female elder naturally didn’t miss the change in Lin Fan’s expression.

Though the way that she said this almost seemed like she had picked up something else from how Lin Fan reacted. After all, there was a trace of hope that was in her voice as she said this.

It was as if she had been convinced by everything that Lin Fan had shown just now that she believed he would have a method to solve this problem.

There was this moral dilemma that filled Lin Fan when he heard this.

There was a part of him that did want to hatch this dragon now since everything was already gathered. At the same time, it would surely solve one of the regrets for this female elder.

But he also didn’t want to do it here since it would mean giving some hints about things he didn’t want others to know about...

In the end, Lin Fan said with a sigh, "I’ve thought of one method that I’ve read before that we can try."

The female elder’s eyes lit up when she heard this.

With a wave of her hand, there was this secret room that opened up all of a sudden that caught everyone by surprise. However, the female elder didn’t seem to care at all that they were surprised by this as she said, "Use what you need from here. It would have been yours anyway after I handed control of this forest over to you, but now I can see this egg hatch as well."

Lin Fan couldn’t help shaking his head with a wry smile when he heard this.

After all, what the female elder was saying made things a bit awkward for him.

At the same time, he didn’t expect her to be this petty in the end.

Still, he could tell from the spiritual energy that came out of that room that this room was filled with quite a few special things. They were similar to the special things that Xiao Mu had found when they had scavenged the forest.

"They weren’t taken during the disaster?" Lin Fan couldn’t help asking after looking over these things.

A heavy look appeared on the female elder’s face before she said, "They didn’t play a use during that time. You should be able to see what kind of things are gathered here, so you won’t need me to explain it to you."

After looking closely, Lin Fan could understand what the female elder meant by this.

The things that were in this storage room were elixirs, but they weren’t the normal kind of elixirs. They were certainly useful things, but the ones that would be able to use them were spirit beasts.

They were elixirs that had the greatest effect when used on spirit beasts.

When the Dao Sect faced their disaster, the ones that went to face it were mainly the cultivators of the Dao Sect.

If there were some that used spirit beasts, they made up the minority of the Dao Sect. So it wasn’t as if they required that many elixirs in the first place and they most likely took the ones that they needed.

The rest were naturally all left in this place.

The fact that there were even elixirs for spirit beasts in the first place went to show that they didn’t look down on spirit beasts and accepted them as part of the cultivation world. It went to show that they recognized the power that spirit beasts possessed.

But the Dao Sect was still a human sect.

After taking stock of all the things that were in the storage, Lin Fan started pulling out the things that they needed to hatch the egg.

"Are you sure that you need all that?" The female elder couldn’t help asking when she saw what he was doing.

If it was just a few things, then she wouldn’t have cared at all.

Even if he filled his arms with elixirs, she would have just accepted it as part of the process.

However, Lin Fan started bringing out elixir after elixir as if he was determined to completely empty out this storage room. It was almost as if he was planning on using everything that was in the room to hatch the egg.

"The more that we use, the higher the chances that we’ll succeed."

The female elder didn’t seem fully convinced, but it wasn’t as if there was anything that she could say to refute this. She was the one that had asked him to test it out, so it wasn’t as if she could stop him now.

In the end, the only thing that the female elder could do was watch as Lin Fan used his method to hatch the egg.

But as this was happening, the female elder was slowly understanding what he was doing. After all, she was the one that had taken care of all these spirit beasts in the first place, so it was only natural that she would have a deep understanding of spirit beasts.

She knew that he was using the elixirs to create an environment that would simulate the one that the true dragon would live in.

It was a strange method to use the elixirs in this way, but the female elder was certainly impressed since it didn’t seem like it would fail. The way that everything worked together gave her even more hope that this would work.

As if to prove her right, there was this cracking sound that came from the egg.

This crack wasn’t a sign that things had gone wrong. Instead, this crack was a sign that Lin Fan’s method was working and the dragon inside of the egg was hatching.

It didn’t take long for that crack to spread and it really seemed like the dragon was going to come out soon.

Only the cracking that formed along the surface soon stopped.

"What’s going on? Why did it suddenly stop?" The female elder asked with a worried look on her face.

Lin Fan didn’t say anything as he watched this egg in silence, but in reality he was reading the instructions from the system.

The one problem that he faced now was that the last thing that he needed was missing.

The only way to get it was to exchange for it from the system and it wasn’t a cheap item, but it wasn’t as if he couldn’t afford it. The real problem was that he couldn’t take it out in front of everyone.

"I’m heading into the Minor World for a moment. There’s something in there that I need to help this egg hatch."

Before anyone could say anything, Lin Fan disappeared into the Minor World.

When he came out, he had a bottle that he was holding like it was something very precious.
